"LIPS OF AN ANGEL"
When I opened my eyes, I saw Marius's handsome face. His eyes were speaking, gazing at me with admiration. I couldn't help but blush; his admiration was evident in the way he scrutinized every angle of my face.
"Sorry, I dozed off," I replied, quickly fixing myself.
I straightened my posture and tidied up my disheveled hair.
"Come on," Marius responded, his gaze still fixed on me.
At that moment, I moved to unbuckle my seatbelt, but it turned out we had the same idea. We both reached for the buckle of my seatbelt simultaneously, causing our hands to accidentally touch. A jolt of unexplainable electricity surged through every fiber of my being.
"Sorry."
I heard Marius apologize as my breath escaped me with an unintentional gasp.
I didn't respond. Instead, I just smiled at him, unable to hide the slight avoidance in my gaze.
Tension quickly enveloped the interior of the car, and I could feel it. Wanting to avoid the discomfort the situation brought, I made my movements appear effortless.
I overcame Marius to unfasten the seatbelt, then decided to push the car door open.
I successfully managed to avoid Marius.
I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I've been eagerly anticipating a kiss from Marius for a long time. However, due to my condition, I thought it would be wrong to give in to my feelings.
I genuinely miss the touch of his lips.
But with the way things unfolded, I couldn't help but think that it might have been a mistake to succumb to my feelings.
I sighed heavily at the thought of getting pregnant by Marius before marriage. Then, I looked at him and smiled.
What I mean is, maybe I was head over heels for Marius back then.
Perhaps with just one kiss from him, I would have surrendered, which is why my condition is like this now.
Maybe I didn't use my head and chose to listen to what my heart was screaming.
"And for me, that's not right."
"Come on," I said after a while, taking the lead as I descended from the car.
My attention immediately focused on an old, beautiful, and large house standing before me.
As I gazed at it, it felt like there was an indescribable yet positive emotion that swept over my heart.
The house was beautiful. Honestly, for someone like me who loves classics, it's stunning.
Its style resembled the houses from the Spanish era. And since I recalled Marius mentioning that his grandparents were the original owners of the house, it's likely that it was built during that time.
"You know, I love old houses," I said while looking up at the house.
When I felt Marius turn his gaze towards me, I smiled and continued what I wanted to say.
"They have a lot of interesting stories to tell," I remarked.
Marius nodded, his eyes sparkling and a sweet smile gracing his lips.
"Does that mean you like it here?" he asked.
"Yes," I replied, unable to hide the joy in my voice.
Marius's eyes became even more beautiful in my sight. Beyond that, the happiness in his reaction added to the beauty of the moment.
*****
Marius couldn't quite figure out what hit him, considering Sam's words were seemingly simple.
Perhaps it was because he loved the girl that his heart was now filled with joy.
He was thrilled to hear that she liked being in his world. And it wasn't just because Sam said it or because it came out of her mouth. It was because he saw it in her eyes, and he knew it was genuine.
"I'm glad to hear that. So, shall we? I'm sure Aling Lourdes has prepared lunch," Marius said, carefully holding Sam's elbow.
Just like earlier, he caught the soft sigh she released, caused by that simple skinship. He couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement.
Yes, he was a man, but he felt giddy. And it was the first time he experienced such a feeling.
"Are you okay?" he asked her.
Marius noticed the slight blush on Sam's face and her hesitant gaze. He also noticed her attempts to meet his eyes, which caught his attention and gave him hope.
Yes, even though Sam agreed to come with him, he didn't want to be too complacent.
He knew there were many ways she could change her mind. Many things could happen for her to leave him, including taking their child. And he didn't want that to happen.
Andrew was angry with him, and that wasn't surprising.
He knew it was probably Lana who convinced Sam to come with him.
But if there was one thing he truly feared, it was the possibility that Sam's memory might return at any moment.
He didn't know if it was right to pray for her to stay in this condition. But the truth was, he was afraid of everything that could happen once Sam remembered.
He was sure she would be angry with him.
And even though he didn't want to think she would leave him, that was still the thought that haunted his mind.
"Thank you, Sam." Those words slipped from his lips involuntarily.
Sam's ears perked up, and she looked at him. They were on the balcony of the house, and her flat shoes made a noise on the narra plank floor.
"Thank you for what?" Sam asked him.
Marius looked into Sam's beautiful eyes. Then he released a heavy sigh that constricted his chest.
"Thank you for giving me this chance," Marius said.
Marius saw the sudden confusion that appeared on Sam's perfect face. So he expected her to ask something in response. But that didn't happen. Instead, Sam just smiled at him. And unexpectedly, she leaned forward and planted a soft kiss on his cheek.
An unexplainable nervousness gripped Marius' heart because of Sam's actions. It felt like he was floating on clouds, despite the simple gesture.
Many things had happened between him and Sam before. That was the truth, and he wouldn't deny that he wanted everything to happen again. But he couldn't explain why he felt this way now.
There was an overwhelming happiness in his heart because of what Sam did. And never had it crossed his mind that his entire being could be filled with excessive joy from a simple gesture like the one Sam did to him.
"You know, I think I was head over heels for you before the accident happened. So I thought it was only right to give you a chance—not just for me, but especially for our child," Sam replied.
Once again, an unexplainable joy enveloped Marius' heart. Then, as if his hand had a mind of its own, it pulled Sam's arm and hugged her tightly.
It was a tight embrace that he hoped would convey to Sam what he truly felt for her. How much he loved her.
"When you love someone, a simple kiss on the cheek and a tight hug can make you happy." Those were the words that slipped from Marius' lips, not realizing that Sam responded with an even tighter embrace.
