Chapter 46
ZAVIER [Zero]
"Now, I want more. I want out of the goddamn life I've always known and into hers. Hers is just so damn beautiful like her." I shook my head, "Don't know if I'll fit in."
Morris touched my hand. "Hey, man. You'll do just great, I know this. I'll tell you the goddamn truth. You've changed these past few months, and damn if the change ain't so good. If any man told me you'll be this way five months ago, I'll personally herd the bastard off to a mental doctor and get his head checked."
"That much, huh?" I asked reluctantly.
"That much and it's a great thing. You're a stick in my ass and you can be a good asshole without practicing it, but I want the goddamn best for you."
I ran my tongue through my teeth. "So, what do you suggest I do?"
"Take her so far away from this life and start a new life with her. Stop taking missions. Stop killing. Just be with her and so far away. The next thing to do will come to you." He stated sagely.
I contemplated his words and committed it to memory. "Take her far away. Start a new life. Got that."
"You know you have to marry her first?"
"What's with that word again? I've heard it a lot today. Is it so damn important?" I asked, truly curious.
"Yes, it is, Zee. Once you marry her, she's yours forever."
I cocked my head to the side. "But she's mine forever, now."
He shook his head. "No, she isn't, Zee man. Another man can still take her from you because she isn't bind to you and she isn't yours legally. You can loose her anytime."
Just the thought of it, had my chest tightening in rage and I snarled. "Any bastard that thinks he can take her from me is free to try. It would end with his shoulders without a head and I'll enjoy it."
Morris sat up, "Woah, take it easy. No one will take her from you, but when you marry her, no one will ever be able to do that. Also,Lani will really love to get married to you."
That, caught my attention more than anything else. "She will?"
"Hell, yeah. You know where she came from, right? Women, those alien creatures, were thought when they were very little to never give themselves to a man who's not married to them. It's just that the world is so damn bad these days, women become fvcking whores. But there are still those ones that had very sheltered and religious life like Lani. Fvcking and living with a man who ain't their husband is like a big bad sin to them." He explained patiently.
"Really?"
"Hell, yeah. Bet she gets sad sometimes too and it worries her. But, that girl is just so shy and you're a damn hard man so she can't tell you about it." He spoke so sagely and smugly.
Suddenly it made sense. Could this be why she gets sad sometimes? The more I thought about it, the more I think that must be the fvcking reason because that abhorred look always crosses her face whenever I try to make love with her.
"So, if we get married, the world will know she's mine and I also get to make love with her without her feeling bad about it?" I asked in comprehension.
"Exactly." He said, snapping his fingers.
"How is marriage done?"
He scratched his head. "Uhm, that part is hard for poor Morris, but I think it's in the church and a priest get to do a lot of fvcking things and make you two recites some damn words."
"Then, we get married immediately. This afternoon. I'll wake her and take her to the priest." I got and headed for the bedroom like a man on a goddamn mission.
"Jesus, fuck! No like that at all!" Morris raced after me and dragged my hand, stopping me. "You'll only scare her that way,you assh0le it's not done like that!"
"Oh." I followed him back to the seat and sat down. "How the fvck is it done?"
"You do it romantically."
"What's that?" I asked, baffled.
He exhaled deeply. "You know what? Make use of the damned laptop. That's what the shit is there for anyway, to provide us with goddamn informations."
He patted my hands. "Research these keywords. 'Marriage.' 'Love' and 'How to make a good husband.' They are very important. Trust me, you'll figure the rest of the shit out, you're a smart man after all."
I nodded in all seriousness. "Thanks, Morris."
"Wait, what?" He grinned, "Did you just say that word!? Speak up please, Morris at the damned back of the classroom can't hear you!"
I smiled then, I couldn't help myself. "Thank you, Morris. You've been.....a cool friend, even though you can be an ass."
"Oh, honey. What are friends for?" He drawled.
I shook my head at him, feeling more relaxed than I've been in a damn long time. The assassin is dead and I've got the answer to all fvcking problems.
"So, do I get a kiss now?" Morris asked.
I punched his shoulders instantly. "I'll kill you for shit like that."
"Ouch!!! I don't mean you, asshole! Eeww! I meant Lani. Can I get one kiss from sweet lani before you tie the knot for-fvcking-ever?"
Before he was done talking, he was laughing and running away to avoid the jar I carried swiftly.
After he disappeared, a smile crossed my face again.

Hours later, the sun has gone and night has crept in. Lani was still sleeping. She woke up twice to urinate and one more time I forced her to eat...that time was most difficult.
She didn't want to eat. Said lasagna was suddenly making her feel like vomiting and she doesn't like the smell of the salad.
That confused the goddamn hell outta me because those shits were one of her favorite foods.
She went back to sleep, I got out and bought the food she said she wanted to eat, wake her up and she ate. Then, she went back to sleep.
I used that time to make the goddamn research and I found out a whole lot of things.
After three hours of cruising every website in the whole damn internet, I knew three things for the goddamn fact they are.
I love Lani.(Not that I'll admit it to that bastard, Morris).π
I'm going to marry her.
And I'm gonna spend the rest of my damn life, being the best damn husband I can, and keeping her happy.
I shut down the laptop and got up. Stared at the clock. 8:00pm.
Not too late to go a ring, I thought and headed out.
