Chapter 67
ZAVIER [Zero]
Her cheeks heated, "You're staring at me like you want to d-devour me."
I chuckled, unable to help myself. Then, I drew her onto my arms and kissed her. She mumbled something before she melted into me and kissed me back.
When I pulled away from her, I nibbled at her ear. "Your analysis is dead accurate." I whispered to her and she moaned low on her throat.
I lifted her up then and she gasped. "I've got customers coming over!" She protested.
"Don't worry, Mrs Ryker, I'm not about to ravish you...yet." I flashed my teeth, "I want to get you off your feet because you've been standing on it for quite some time now."
"Oh...." She averted her eyes shyly and I laughed again.
My wife is a unique character on her own.
I carried her to the nearest chair and lowered her to the cushion, propping two pillows behind her. She sat with a sigh of contentment. "Thank you so much, honey."
I walked to the bathroom and got some water. "Where are those peppermints and lavender oil?"
"In my bag!" She called out.
I withdrew them from her bag and mixed them with the water. She'd already rested her legs elevated at the cushion in front of her. I sat beside her and took the legs into my hand.
I started massaging it with my hands. "Morris called me in the morning, when I was in the office. He said he's coming over tomorrow."
Lani's eyes widened, "Really? Miranda gave me a similar call. Said she'll coming the day after tomorrow."
I paused and stared at her, "Seriously?"
She nodded, laughing softly. "I don't know what's going on with that two. Miranda told me that she's finally out from the orphanage. She studied veterinary, you know. So, she's very good with animals."
She sighed again, flexing her toes as I massaged. "I'm thinking of talking her into staying here in Jacobville and putting down roots. Oh, how I'll love it! She's my closest friend and I know that there are some hospitals here in Jacobville she can work in."
"We seem to be having similar thought lately, doll. I was thinking of getting that bastard Morris to stay right here. In fact, I already spoke to Cole about him, and he promised that he'll do something positive." I groaned, picking up the second leg.
"Really?" She smiled widely, "Morris working as a sheriff would be a really good thing! But he might not like it."
"He won't, that asshole. But I ain't giving him no chance." My lips twitched, "You know, it's been both of us for so long, Morris and I. He's always been my side dude, and so fvcking rock solid. Always cleaning after me, and cursing the shit outta me as he does it. I miss him."
"Mmmmmh....I can't wait to tell him this." She lowered her voice and whispered mischievously "I'll tell him how you've been singing his praises and saying you missed him."
I smiled at her radiant face, "He'll never believe you."
"So, from tomorrow there'll be more drama in our house because of Morris and Miranda?" She chewed on her bottom lip worriedly, "I wonder what's going on between the both of them."
I bit my lip to cut of the smile. Lani...my little innocent wife.
I know for sure that the only shit happening is that that assh0le Morris is on his way to falling on his ass in love with the sharp-mouthed girl.
They're just going about it the aggressive way but that's the goddamn end-point I know for sure. During our wedding, I caught him several times fvcking the girl with his eyes when he thought no one was looking.
"What is it?" Lani drew my attention.
"Huh?"
"You're smiling."
"Just thinking about Morris, doll." I put away the water and wiped her legs clean, "Don't worry about them, they'll be fine, okay?"
"Alright." she paused, "Has he been caught? The bad man that hurts children."
"No but he'll soon be. Bastard's being too careful but he'll make mistake one of these days and I'll catch his ass."
"Please, be careful, okay?" Worry and concern dripped from her voice.
"Trust me honey, I'll be. You just focus on keeping safe." I kissed her leg and her hand found mine and squeezed slightly.
"I'll be. I promise." She whispered. I pulled closer and kissed her softly, tenderly. Damn, I want her in my arms.
Seems like I'll be counting seconds again until I have her alone and in our private time.
"I'll have to go back on the road now before they start looking for the sheriff on patrol. You need anything---"
"I'll call, I know." She smiled again, putting her hair back from her face.
I nodded once, "Exactly. You know how it goes on days like this, I'll be working late---"
"But you'll be home before 7pm. I know, honey." She completed. "I'll pick the twins up from school today. Valerie went for a job interview and would be home late."
"Alright." I got up, and helped her up. Almost immediately, a customer was at the door ringing the doorbell and pushing the screen-door open.
I pulled her into my arms, and wrapped my arm around her. "Call me if there's any problem." I can't stop saying that.
"I will." She whispered.
I knelt down to become eye level with her swollen belly. I caressed the bum tenderly, and kissed it lovingly. "You both take care of your mother, okay? Daddy loves you."

He stood in the shadows and watched them all shrieking and laughing and playing.
Sweet innocent looking things like them.
School has dismissed and they were trooping out of the gate with their guardians. A's eyes stared at all of them passively.
Until she came out and his eyes flashed lustifully and evilly. He couldn't take his eyes off the little one.
Her platinum blond hair caught the sun as she walked, and shone like diamond.
Her twin brother was playing with her about something and she was pouting begrudgingly with that sexy little lips. Then, she was yelling her report to the guardian.
A's eyes took in the incredibly beautiful pregnant woman. He'd heard that her husband is sheriff.
Dumb set of people, them sheriffs. They can never catch him no matter how they tried. He's not Normad. He's more sneakier.
The pregnant woman held the twin in each hand, walking and talking and smiling to them. A couldn't make out what they were saying.
All he knows is that the preggi is the only person currently standing between him and his little quarry.
He really doesn't like roadblocks. He never has.
