Chapter 71
LEILANI.
Three months later, I woke up feeling terrible.
Since I entered my ninth month of pregnancy, I feel so terrible all the time. My back hurts all the time. My belly is as big as a house. My waist hurt occasionally. Everywhere hurts.
But all in all, I'm the happiest woman in the world, knowing that very soon, I'll carry my kids in my arms.
I felt a kick in my belly and I gasped softly. Raising my nightie, I stared down at the small feet I can see the imprints.
"Good morning, my darlings." I whispered sleepily, a radiant smile crossing my face.
Gently, I made my way out of bed to start the day. Getting out of bed is very stressful but I finally managed it with a groan.
The living room was empty and I know that Zavier must have gone out to make breakfast again.
For some months now, there's been division of labour around here. Morris, Miranda and Zavier did most of the works in the house, and it made me so grateful to them.
The way I feel these days, it takes sometimes before I can do the smallest of things.
I walked outside the bedroom and followed the familiar voice of Morris and Zavier talking. They were in the kitchen when I walked in.
Zavier was cooking while Morris did the dishes. Miranda was sweeping.
When I walked in, a smile spread across my husband's features. I walked straight to him and kissed him on the lips. "Good morning, honey."
"How are you this morning?" He asked, concerned.
"I feel terrible. But better than yesterday." I whispered truthfully, before pulling away from him.
My eyes found Morris who grinned up at me while still doing the dishes. "Good morning, wifey."
Zavier smacked him over the head. "She's my wife not yours."
"Stop smacking him." Miranda protested at Zavier, and then, she gave me a smile. "Good morning, Lani."
"Good morning, everyone." I answered tiredly, going over to the coffeemaker.
"Did she just defend me?" Trust Morris to pick out that detail.
Miranda flushed on the cheeks but raised her head defiantly, "I did no such thing."
"I think you did." Zavier groaned.
"I think you did." I added.
"Aaaargh!!" She threw her arms up and walked out of the kitchen while we chuckled, especially Morris.
"I love you too, honey." He shouted.
"Leave me alone, Morris!" Miranda shot from the living room.
"Ain't holding you, babe!"
"I'm not your babe!"
"Alright, baby!" Morris called.
"Not your baby, either!"
I shook my head, drinking my coffee. These two won't kill me around here, I thought with a smile.
The relationship between them has gotten better. They no longer attack each other with words, but they still argue.
The day I found out that they are attracted to each other is the day they argued so much and everywhere became silent. I came out to make sure they haven't killed each other.
Turns out Morris was kissing poor Miranda's brains out.
Since that day, another kind of relationship developed between them. Still lethal though.
As I walked to the other side of the kitchen, I found Morris staring at me amusingly. I know what he's gonna say, and I glared at him.
"Don't say it!" I hissed, trying to stop him. He said it anyway.
"You waddle like a huge duck, honey." He laughed out loud, "I never thought waddling can look so sexy though."
"Morris!" I cried, exasperated.
Zavier came my rescue, cocking him at the back of the head with a cooking spoon. "Stop making fun of my pregnant wife, you assh0le."
"Ouch!!" Morris robbed his poor head and glared at Zavier.
"Apologize to her now." My husband glared right back at him.
I crossed my arms and waited for him to apologize.
"I'm sorry, honey." He drawled but his eyes was laughing.
I pouted before I faced the door and started out of the kitchen.
I already passed the door before I heard him say, "You still waddle like a duck though."
"Morris! Wicked man!" I shot at him as I walked away.
Miranda stared at me pitifully, "Don't mind him, you walk just right." But I can see she's trying not to laugh.
I huffed and started towards the exercising room Zavier set up for me as adviced by the doctor. I kept wondering why the whole world is against me!
