Seeing Ling Chuxi keeping calm with a faint smile, Jiang Wuhen and Li Shaoqiu felt an unprecedented steadiness in their hearts.

“Where? Where?” chanted a group of soldiers who dreamt of being promoted and making it rich. They rushed over at great speed as if they had been injected with chicken blood, surrounding Ling Chuxi’s group of three. A few of them even went the fastest they could go to notify the city lord of this development.

Looking at these soldiers with their eyes blinking green, Li Shaoqiu trembled. An odd feeling arose in his heart. This person was a total idiot! Ling Chuxi made this assessment immediately. Since anyone could openly walk through the gates of the city, they were naturally confident in their ability to protect it. The city lord shouted orders for some time but still not one soldier dared to make a move, yet he still did not notice that something was off and became even more furious, “Are you all deaf?! Why aren’t you taking them away?!”

“Are you the city lord of Gu Yang City?” Ling Chuxi finally could not hold back and began speaking to break the standstill they found themselves in.

“And you are?” It was only at this point that the city lord noticed there was an extra person alongside the duo he so desired to capture, and furthermore that it was a charming and tender peerless beauty. He salivated and his yellow bean-like eyes did not move from Ling Chuxi. As Gu Yang City was remote, when had he ever had the chance to see such a peerless beauty? Seeing Ling Chuxi’s facial features and slim figure, there were waves in the city lord’s heart like spring waters overflowing into an ocean.

“Prepare ten fast horses, ten catties of clean water, ten catties of dry rations, and ten catties of beef for us,” said Ling Chuxi. She did not respond to the city lord’s question and instead listed the items they needed to continue their journey after making the calculations in her mind.

“What?” It was a good thing that although the city lord was a little foolish and lustful, he wasn’t a total idiot. Upon hearing Ling Chuxi’s words, he immediately regained his senses. Looking at the postures of these three people, it was obvious that Ling Chuxi was a companion of Jiang Wuhen and Li Shaoqiu.

“We are not. Remember, the horses should be the best ones you have, the water must be clean and the beef must be fresh,” said Ling Chuxi as her gaze turned cold.

“Death is right before you, yet you actually dare to order me about. Guards, take them away. Take all of them away and jail them until further instruction! Oh, but wait. Don’t lock the girl up. Send her directly to my manor instead. I want to personally interrogate her,” sneered the city lord. He was angered by Ling Chuxi’s attitude till he couldn’t help but sneered continuously as he waved his short hands and gave orders.
