Chapter 719 - The Woman Who Loved Him

An enormous wolf stood before them, its eyes blood red and its body enclosed in a bony frame. Its fangs dripped saliva as its rancid breath washed over them.

This was no ordinary wolf—it was a Level 9 monster beast, the Blood-eyed Bone Wolf. Even if the tribesmen did not have much understanding of the levels of monster beasts, just looking at it was enough to tell that it was a truly fearsome creature.

The three hunters and the Bone Wolf stood opposite each other as they locked gazes. Chills ran down the hunters’ spines, and they gripped the hilts of their blades so tightly that their fingers turned white and their palms were sweaty.

The Bone Wolf suddenly raised its head and let out a long, melancholy howl. It abruptly charged at the tribesmen, and they all shouted and desperately slashed at the Bone Wolf with their hunting knives.

A terrible stench assaulted their noses, and their knives didn’t hit anything. Clang! Their knives all fell to the ground at the same time, as if the last bit of strength in their bodies had just been sucked out of them.

The Bone Wolf picked up the roe deer above the bonfire in its massive jaws, and ran towards the swamp, leaving behind only a faint shadow.

“A-Are we already dead?” The young man sat up, still in shock. His hands were still trembling in fear.

“We are alive! It is all thanks to the divine people’s protection that we are still alive,” the older hunter exclaimed in awe.

“Just now, that wolf…” Recalling that strange wolf that was covered in bone, Ah San unconsciously shivered.

“That must be a divine beast that the divine people rear. Yes, that is probably it. Good thing we didn’t injure it, or we would definitely be punished by the divine people. Though her forehead had no wrinkles, her silver hair indicated that she was probably not that young. Even so, through her face and brows, her charming youth could still be seen.

The woman was looking at a portrait on the table, her gaze sometimes tender, sometimes pained, sometimes angry, and sometimes sorrowful.

That portrait was so old that it had already turned yellow, but the middle-aged man in it could still be seen. The man looked handsome and majestic, but there was an undeniable gloominess in his eyes.

The person in the portrait was actually a young Chu Fengyun!
