24. Sinful Book 2
I looked up at the sky from the mat I had laid out for Diego and I; Diego was sleeping, cuddled up on my body. The weather had been great this afternoon, I guess that should've told me that the rain was going to fall later.
The clouds were dark and heavy; the weather was changing fast, and soon, it became windy; the indication that it was going to rain hard. I hurriedly carried Diego into the house, while the maid packed up the mats and books I had taken out with me.
I looked around the kitchen and living room, even Diego's room, but Samantha wasn't any where. She had come today for her weekly visit, and while Diego and I were in the small garden at the back of the house, Samantha was sitting by the back door, at least that's the last place I saw her sitting before she disappeared.
My eyes widened at the realization that she might be in the room Antonio and I share; I ran there immediately pushing the door open with so much force, but she wasn't there. I let out a sigh of relief, leaning against the door frame.
I ran back downstairs with one thing in my mind; I had to find her to remind her that she has to get going before the rain starts falling.
Maybe she has gone? I highly doubt that.
When I got downstairs, Samantha was with her black sling bag hanging from her shoulders, and a small smile on her face directed at Antonio who just stepped into the house.
"I went around looking for you," I was looking directly into her eyes. There was something there, some type of plan, but she was trying hard to push it back, she was trying hard to not get excited by whatever she was planning.
"Sorry, I went to the restroom. I must've had something bad, I keep going into the restroom," Samantha's face showed great discomfort as she cradled her stomach area. Was this the plan? The rain was about to fall, the winds were a little more aggressive now, and she's bothered about her stomach instead of going home?
"Aah, sorry. I need to use the restroom again," Samantha said the words but I barely heard her, after which she ran to the guest restroom around the corner. I looked towards Antonio who kept watching me like he's trying to understand my thoughts. I smile at him.
"Welcome home darling," I walked to him and pressed my lips on his, inhaling him as I did. Antonio dropped his cost to the ground, then pulled me flush against him, with a lazy smile playing on his face. He had a very long day, and he was tired.
"Go get yourself cleaned up, you smell like papers and meetings," I pushed him away from me, bending to pick up his coat from the ground. Antonio smiled but he didn't make any move to do what I asked.
"No, I want to kiss you some more. I missed you," Antonio pressed, and pulled me back to him, resting his chin on the top of my head. I laughed at how cute he was being.
"Did you have a bad day?" I asked him, wrapping my arms around his waist while his hands hung loosely around mine, tapping my but lightly.
"No, I didn't. I just had a lot of work to do, and I couldn't wait to come back to you," Antonio hugged me even tighter and I could feel my heart melt. I love this man.
"Well, you're home now, so get cleaned up," I smile at him. Just as Antonio was about to make his way to the stairs, lightning struck and immediately rain started pouring. My mind turned to the direction Samantha walked towards. She was still in there, and the rain had already started. I was getting hints from my subconscious that this was what Samantha wanted, but I shook the thoughts off, she might really have eaten something bad and had an upset stomach. But the look in her eyes... I shouldn't be gatekeeping her facial expressions.
"Samantha is still in there, isn't she? It's raining kinda hard," Antonio said. I looked up at him and pressed my lips together, keeping my expression as neutral as I could.
On cue, Samantha appeared.
"Oh shoot, it's pouring," Well no shit Sherlock. I folded my arms, watching her, waiting for her next move.
"You can't possibly go home on your own, call Dan," Antonio suggested, leaning further into me.
"I have no idea why I can't get through to him. I called him severally while I was in the restroom, to come get me, but he didn't pick up. He only sent a message that he was busy and he'd call me back as soon as he's done," Samantha looked down at her fingers. Fucking Dan! He's out somewhere fucking Melissa. I suddenly started feeling very bad. I knew what Dan was doing, but I didn't have the mind to say it.
"Come then, I'll take you home," I turned to Antonio, shocked that he'd even offer that. He had been keeping a safe distance between him and Samantha, and even if offering to take her home is the right thing to do, I was still shocked by it.
"No, I couldn't possibly do that to you. You look tired from work," Samantha shook her head, putting her hands out to show that she's completely against it.
"Why don't you stay then, when the rain is over, you can go home," I smiled at her. The fact that I suspected her didn't mean that I'd be inhumane towards her, especially after I knew the reason why Dan was too busy to get her, and also, I didn't want her to know I was suspicious of her, not yet.
"Thank you so much. I'll be in Diego's room. I promise I won't disturb," Samantha's voice had too much determination, but it wasn't the bad kind.
Samantha looked innocent and harmless, maybe I suspected her for nothing, and her stomach really hurts. I walked to her, tapped her shoulder and made my way to the stairs, with Antonio following closely behind me.
