Prove to him
Alana's eyes flew open, reaching for her head. She pushed herself up, until she was sitting
“Oh gosh,” she had never felt so tired before. Her head was aching so much that even kept her eyes open. Why was she so tired, glancing around, she found herself in her room? Alana was startled when she found herself in her nightgown,
“What exactly happened?” She asked lazily as she dragged herself out of bed. It was early in the morning, the sun was shining brightly. She decided to do her morning routine hence went to the bathroom
Whatever made her feel tired, she didn't know. But she hoped to ask Mrs. Marks how she got to her room. Because the only thing she recalled was being at the rest with Ricardo and falling asleep
After a while, Alana was done and decided to go downstairs, to her surprise she heard Ricardo in the living room talking to someone. The voice of the woman sounded very familiar; therefore she decided to see who it was
“Don't worry sir, he's in safe hands… I'll make sure he's alright again,” she heard the woman's voice, by now Alana was certain the lady was familiar and when she entered the living room. She found that nurse from the restaurant who mistreated Santiago. Mrs. Marks was standing to the sides smiling as usual
“I hired you because…”
“There's no need to hire her,” Alana cut Ricardo off as she walked inside. The nurse had a shocked expression, seeing Alana. Ricardo was angry as usual
“What are you doing here, don't tell me you are a helper here,” the nurse said mockingly shooting angry daggers at Alana one glare from Ricardo had her lowering her head
“Agnes, this is Mr. Romero's wife, show some respect, now apologize” Mrs. Marks whispered to the lady, and immediately she glanced up dumbstruck. Just her eyes were enough for Alan to know she wasn't expecting that
“My apologies, I didn't know,” the woman whispered with a low bow, but Alana didn't pay attention to her and shifted her gaze to Ricardo
“There's no need for you to hire a nurse,” Alana said boldly, she didn't care what he thought of her. But what she witnessed the other day was enough to know the nurse was not good
Ricardo couldn't hold his rage anymore as he rose from the couch, grabbed Alana's hand and dragged her out of the living room. He was doing this for his son, so why was she bothered
Alana was dragged to Ricardo's study room and slammed the door shut. The angry expression plastered on his face made Alana realize what she had done
“Did I ask for your permission…who do you think you are?” Ricardo muttered as he advanced toward Alana in small predatory steps that had Alana backing away from him nervously
“Well, that nurse isn't good… I saw how she treated Santi… I don't think you should hire someone like that,” Alana stammered as she kept backing away from him. Was he frightening, or was it just his way of intimidating others? He was so arrogant,
“So tell me, your highness… what should I do, huh?” Ricardo asked mockingly as he stood close to her. Alana had her eyes away from him, he trapped her against the desk. All she could feel was his heavy breathing,
“Did you look her up, her background and how many children she has dealt with…” Alana remarked and grabbed the edge of the desk for support. Ricardo stared at her for a while. Who was she to say such a thing to him
“Then what should we do,” it seemed she was controlling things, and Ricardo was annoyed by her. Especially when she was trying to meddle in his affairs
“Tell me what's wrong with him, I'm sure I can help…no need to hire that woman,” Alana muttered when Ricardo grabbed her chin and tilted her head up. Startled, Alana swallowed hard as her eyes met Ricardo's sharp gaze
“You are nothing but some stepmom to him, do you think I'm going to trust a stranger like you,” Ricardo whispered through gritted teeth and gripped her chin, although he wasn't causing her pain
“She's a stranger too…or do you want me to prove to you. Give me a week to show you how bad that nurse is,” Alana murmured and managed to leave Ricardo's hold. He didn't say anything, it seemed he just hated her for nothing.
“Fine, you have a week to prove to me that she is bad for my son,” Ricardo agreed and Alana nodded and stormed out of the study room. On her way upstairs, she saw the nurse walking around and looking at things. Alana just wanted to grab her by the hair and throw her out
But to make that grumpy man understand, she had to unmask the witch and show everyone how bad she was.

To Alana's luck, the nurse left the house before they could. She wanted to know exactly what was wrong with Santiago. He was a sweet and intelligent boy. It was a shame he didn't talk, or was there something making him not to? Mrs. Marks told her, Santiago only spoke with people he was comfortable with
“Mr. Romero, about the meeting… I don't think it's a good idea for me to go there,” Alana said, breaking the silence between her and Ricardo. To her surprise, the man gave her a ride to the office. She thought he didn't want anyone to know she was his wife
“Are you scared your idea is ridiculous and no one will accept it,” the man said mockingly without even looking at her? Alana frowned and glared at him. Who was he to say that? She had great ideas. For a businessman, he was a fool
“I'm not scared I…”
“Then stop wasting my time,” he cut her off without letting her finish her sentence. Angered, Alan looked the other way and stared out the window. How arrogant the man was. She was certain no woman would stand him.
Soon the car arrived, and one of the security men rushed to open the door for Alana Ricardo. As much as she was happy, Alana stepped out immediately and the door opened. For fear of other employees seeing her and questioning her
“Good morning, someone is lucky today,” it was Brigitte said as soon as she entered the building and stopped at the reception
“Stop it…it's nothing,”
“You mean, you just got out of the boss's car,” the receptionist lady said, her name was Ximena. She was ill and hence had taken leave from work and Brigitte filled in for her
“Isn't it great, you got a ride from the boss…how did you do it?” Brigitte whispered mischievously and draped her some over Alana's shoulder…the entrance door opened, startling the ladies, Ricardo, and four other men walked in. None of them moved an inch until the man disappeared down the passageway way leading to the private elevator
“It's… it's not like that,” Alana shrugged Brigitte away, she should have known they saw everything
“He has a wife remember…we don't want the gossipers in this company making assumptions,” Brigitte said in a warning tone and Alana nodded. It seemed she had to be careful next time. This was going to be harder than she thought. Alana left the ladies and went to her office to prepare for the meeting.
Later on, Ricardo called her to the conference room. The board meeting began. Even Dennis was present.
