Jealous
When we returned to the car, I could almost feel the conflagration he's been building up inside of him. Slowly, I withdrew my fingers from his hands, and that got his attention. In passing, my eyes take in his rugged features. Good grief, he's really upset.
With a few motions of his hands, he had Ros hand over the key. I just watched them from where I was. Is he going to be the one behind the wheel?
"Get inside," he commanded icily.
I just shrugged and got in the back of the car. Sibal helped me into the shotgun seat. My eyes almost beamed with pleading at him. Seriously, I don’t want to be left with this man!
I fastened my seatbelt quietly and gave him another sideways peek. His stony countenance hasn't softened a bit. Inwardly, I swore at myself. I'm trying to be stubborn, but I have to realize that now is not the time for it.
”I’m sorry. I just wanted to get some air.” I talked to him.
He didn’t say any words and just started the car. I saw another car tailing us, Ros and Sibal for sure. Minutes after, I thought he’ll finally say anything but he just remained silent.
”Why are you so mad about that? We only spoke for seconds. It’s not like I can tell him that I’m forbidden to talk to people.” I can’t help but to roll my eyes.
"Never have I forbidden you to interact with others, Alia."
I turned my head to him. He removed his gaze on me and clenched his jaw harder. I’m not forbidden? Well, looking back at it I realized he didn’t say anything like that. Heat transferred to my face, realizing it all.
So I have to ask, "T-then why are you so upset?"
He remained silent throughout. After a long pause, he continued his sullen demeanor and exhaled. Without his noticing, I rolled my eyes. This guy is so convoluted it's ridiculous.
I didn't even realize I'd napped. When I awoke, I noticed the car had stopped. The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was the symbol of a country I've never heard of. I can hear birds singing and there are a lot of trees and grasslands outdoors.
I turned around and saw Aciel’s creepy face. He’s just sitting there on the driver's seat while looking ahead, still mad. I sighed lightly. I don't know if that nap did something to me but I realized that I should be taming him rather than making him mad.
Cause how can I make plans if we’re like this right?
”Where are we?”
”Long beach.” he said.
I blinked my eyes and cleared my throat. Beach? We’re at Long Beach?
”Where’s Sibal and Ros?”
I saw that he almost rolled his eyes with that question. He’s got an attitude of hard rock. What’s wrong with this human being?
”Why are you so upset? You’ll really not talk to me? What did I even do?” I asked, half whining and half begging.
He shut his eyes tight, like he’s having a hard time after that blow of mine. He looked at me and I saw his adams move. I fought back his stares at me and I made sure that I’ll look like a hella puppy begging for it’s master to calm damn.
”Don’t be mad, please. I promise I won’t talk to anyone else unless you tell me.” I said.
His eyes widened a bit, looking amused by what I just said. Of course I wouldn’t do that! Just when he’s around. Tss.
I wet my lower lip and proceeded to bite it lightly. I’m afraid he might realize that I’m just trying to fool him. His eyes softened and he run his fingers on his soft hair. Was that a compliment? No.
”Alia,” he called me and shifted on his seat. Unfortunately, I was too preoccupied to realize how close he actually was to me. The boundaries between my safety zones and his are suddenly collapsing. He put his finger between his thumb and index finger and caressed it across my cheekbones and down to my chin.
It was his gentle eyes that initially captivated me. Is it possible that the reflection has caused a slight greening of his eyes? Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that his natural hazel eyes are stunning.
”I didn’t say you’re not allowed to talk to anyone. When did I ever say that?” he uttered in desperation.
Taking a deep breath, I re-wetted my lips. Suddenly, my throat feels parched and thirsty. Something about the fullness of his small lips gave me the creeps. Instinctively, I tried to avert my gaze, but he interrupted me. As a result, I found myself gazing back into his eyes.
”I told you, you’re free to do anything you want now.” I can sense he’s having a hard time saying that.
”Then why are you acting the other way round?” I asked softly.
He uttered different curses before he looked at me again.
”Alia, you’re young. Men will flaunt their asses just to talk to you. You won’t know their intention until things get worse.”
My lips parted. “He just asked me what I’m doing in there.”
His brow furrowed in question. To which I added, "introduced himself."
”Then that’ll be going somewhere.” His eyes were cold.
I observed the annoyance on his face. My lips aren't moving, but the phantom smile on my face is definitely trying to communicate something. When he saw my happy face, he rolled his eyes. When he attempted to release his grip, I caught his hands and kept him in place.
”So you’re not mad because I talked to people but you’re mad because he introduced himself to me?” I corrected it.
His expression of irritation lingered. I have to say, he is stunning in this light. His brows and nose appeared to have been expertly shaped to complement one other.
”Are you jealous, Mr. Evans?” I smirked.
He gave me a very cold look. I pursed my lips together to hide my haughty grin.
He gently pinched my cheeks and murmured, "You are too full of yourself, Ms. Hampton."
I stifled a chuckle and snarled. Then he let off of me and ran his hand through his hair. Taking something from the stowaway compartment, he set out on his journey.
My jaw almost dropped seeing him in that look. He’s a straight character that came from the book.
He said, "Let's go," in a chilly tone.
I chuckled. You’re doomed, Mr. Evans.
