His Ex
He’s an orphan? That’s like having a glimpse of his life. That information can’t be found in any articles on the internet or in any tabloids and such.
”You alright?” Aciel asked me.
I just nodded as an answer. I don’t know why I’m suddenly awkward around him. We’re not in the group cottage, where the foods are served for early dinner. I didn’t talk much after that lying incident of mine cause I realized that I will just bury my own foot by doing that. All I should focus on is we’re here because Molly and Hugh are getting married.
”Do you want this?” Aciel offered a dish.
I didn’t look into his eyes. I just nodded again. I can feel his gaze on me. Maybe he’s curious by my sudden quietness.
After a few minutes, he inquired again, "Do you want more of this?" I politely declined.
I gave Molly a sidelong glance, and she gave us back one. I felt uncomfortable since she was smiling slightly. The fact that Aciel is acting in a way that is "not so ordinary" for him towards me is both distracting and obvious. In a word, I'm really uneasy. Additionally, his companions are present.
”Do you want other drinks?”
Now, my drink?
I gave him a sideways glance and grinned through clenched teeth. “I’m fine, Aciel. Do you need anything?”
A line of grimness has formed between his lips. Nothing else was said by him after that. It's as though he grasped exactly what I meant to convey. Why does he require what he needs? The devil knows he's annoying, so why is he acting this way.
It's a relief that he finally understands what I've been trying to tell him. He calmed down, but his expression afterward was sour. Sad and sour at the same time. If we weren't around his buddies, I wouldn't try to act like I'm having a good time.
”Hey! Mia!”
”You’re late!”
When someone unexpectedly arrived at the cottage, the entire place erupted in noise. Before I could turn around, I saw both Molly and Hugh staring intently at the man next to me. Instead of responding, I looked for the Mia they were calling for.
She chuckled smoothly as she greeted the people ahead of her, "I'm sorry, I had to finish my final schedule."
She’s wearing ragged shorts and a black bikini top. Her hair is short and blonde. Also, skinny and has fair skin. She looks a bit familiar.
”The groom and bride to be,” she greeted them.
She walked in our direction because Molly and Hugh were in front of us. She hugged Molly and greeted Hugh. I unconsciously glanced at the salty man beside me. He’s not anymore. He’s just looking so out of place?
"Pardon my tardiness."
”It’s okay, Mia. We know you’re busy. I wasn’t expecting you to come honestly.” Molly laughed.
As a result, I stopped looking at him. The woman's gaze met mine, and a question mark appeared in hers.
”Hi, you are?” she asked.
I blinked in surprise. I stood and smiled at her. “Alia,”
She took my hand and returned my grin, but then her expression changed as she noticed the man standing next to me.
”Hey,”
”Hey,”
A crow almost passed by because of the silence, when Aciel and her both greeted each other. She smiled and they pressed each other’s cheeks. I watched them. As I watched, I realized.
”Wasn’t expecting you here.” Her eyes speak more than her mouth.
He gave a grin but said nothing. He faced me for a moment. Curiosity got the best of me, and I couldn't stop to think about why he was suddenly wrapping his arms around my waist.
”We’ll go now. We’ll rest for some bit.” Aciel said.
I saw how Mia’s eyes bore into Aciel’s hand. Uh-Oh, I think I know what this is.
”Camp site later.” Hugh added. Aciel just nodded and signed his hands to people who’s also in there.
I found myself unable to speak. After we are safely away from them is when I speak.
"Who was that?" Obviously, I had to inquire.
He remained silent throughout. I ground my teeth together and shook my head. That's why I cut off his arms. I caught his attention with it. I silently stroll on ahead of him.
”Alia,” he called me.
That’s her girl, for sure. The way that woman’s eyes twitched when he saw Aciel touching me. And the hint of ‘haven’t moved on look’ is embedded on her face. It’s just Aciel looked like he’s not giving any fuck about her.
”Alia, come on.” he’s sounding frustrated, touching my elbows trying to stop me from walking ahead of him.
After one particularly strong tug, I finally gave up. My face nearly made contact with his tough chest if I hadn't been able to rein myself in.
"Who was that?" I said it in a flat tone.
”Mia.”
I cocked an eyebrow in question. The man let out a loud sigh.
”My ex.”
My mouth became a grin. This was something I had to expect.
”Right. She looks like she’s still not done with you.”
He let out a deep breath, put his hands on my shoulders, and then began speaking.
”Nothing’s going on between us anymore.”
”Why?” I asked curiously and genuinely.
The furrows in his brow appear quickly. It's unclear to him what to do.
”You both clearly have unfinished business. You did not end well?”
He looks at me as like he doesn't know what I'm saying.
”Why are you asking me these? Shut up and let’s just go.” he said and dragged me by the wrist.
”Didn’t you see the way she looked at you? She’s still not over!” I convinced him.
The man put on a show of deafness. I snarled and cast a despondent glance at the water. I hope this is my chance to finally get out of this ridiculous situation. The only way I can get away from this man is if that woman still cares for him.
“She looks miserable just then, Aciel! Does that not tweak a bit of your conscience? Don’t you care about her?”
He halted and glared at me. “I’m with you, why would I care about her?”
My mouth opened. My brain suddenly quit working. “H-huh?”
”I don’t give a damn about her, either she’s over or not! Now stop talking about her or else I’ll make your mouth shut.”
I couldn’t comprehend. I blinked in the mixed confusion and intimidation.
”That’s my first and last warning.” he sneered.
