Another day went by that Steven didn't find me. At least in the meantime the wolfsbane is out of my bloodstream and I can move normally again.
Luckily I was able to spend last night alone as Devin had to remove the 'boss' body without anyone noticing. He'd better come up with a good explanation if he doesn't want his plan ruined. Although...this would be my chance to stop him. However, I doubt that I will get out of here alive. It's best if I just leave a note for the hunters if I manage to escape. You then kill Devin and the problem is solved.
"If the hunters ask where Samuel is, then say you haven't seen him." I jumped up from the bed after these words and looked at the door. Devin was standing in the doorway. His hands and arms were smeared with blood and dirt.
"Who is Samuel?" I asked, not understanding the name.
Devin just rolled his eyes annoyed and went to his closet, from which he then took fresh clothes. "The boss," he answered my question. "If you're looking for me, I'm taking a shower. You're welcome to come with me." He added before he disappeared from the room again.
But hey. Nice that I now know the name of the now dead 'Boss'. So definitely worth it.
I finally decided to get up and get ready. As I was brushing my long brown hair, the door opened again. This time, however, it wasn't Devin, as I expected, but Baldhead.
"Have you seen Samuel anywhere? He hasn't shown up since last night?" he asked, not even apologizing for barging in. I might as well have been naked and then I might be stuck with the next pervert.
"I haven't seen him in a while either," I said, then turned back to the mirror on the closet.
"What do you have better ears and a good sense of smell for?" he complained more to himself than to me and left the room again.
"Ass," I whispered, continuing to brush my hair. Then the door opened again, but this time it was really Devin.
He came in and by the way he looked he was looking for me on the bed. But I wasn't lying there anymore. Then his eyes met mine and I looked back at him through the mirror.
"What was Marcel doing here?" he asked a bit confused, but I could also hear something like nervousness in his voice. Am I imagining it or is he afraid that I'll rat him out. I should remember that. Maybe that was ' Run away and leave a message for the hunters' not a bad idea at all.
"Oh, and I thought his name was Baldy," I retorted, slightly snotty. "He asked where Samuel was and don't worry, I said I hadn't seen him in a while."
Devin breathed a sigh of relief. So he was really scared that I would betray him. Now look at the big bad alpha.
"Well, now that that's settled...how about some breakfast?" he asked, trying to be really nice. But I knew better. Underneath his facade, he was a monster.
"As long as you don't poison me with it, bring me the food." I put the hair bust down and turned around, then slipped through the door behind Devin to go into the kitchen. Devin followed me at a distance.
"Your ass looks so great in those leggings," he exclaimed. Great, at least now I know why he's walking so far behind me. Why does he have to be so perverted?
In order not to provoke him further with my ass, I now tried to walk a little stiffer, which didn't work so well. But it was enough that Devin reduced the distance between us and walked next to me. Unfortunately, he couldn't do that without slapping my ass again first, which made me growl at him. He had no right to do that.
When I got to the kitchen, I sat down at the old solid dark wood table. I hope the gentleman can cook. Because I'm really hungry.
Amazingly, Devin actually went to the fridge and I thought he was going to make scrambled eggs or something. Instead, he took out sausage and jam, put it on the table in front of me and got some more toast. And I really thought I'd get something different for breakfast again. I've been eating toast for a few days now. I want to eat something different again. But I probably shouldn't complain, after all I should be glad that I'm getting any food at all and that I'm reasonably well.
"Alpha Devin?" suddenly said a hunter I hadn't met before. This one wasn't quite as muscular as the others and looked a little younger.
"What?" Devin growled in front of me.
"A group of strange wolves was sighted at the gates," the poor boy blurted out nervously. He was clearly scared of good old Devin. Who can blame him, after all he's a psychopath too.
"WHAT?" Devin stood up abruptly, so that his chair was thrown backwards. He dropped his hand on the wooden tabletop of the table, which made a dull thud. Not only the young hunter, but also me, was startled easily together.
"There are quite a few. That's why we couldn't stop them. Maybe you should intervene. You're an alpha wolf, after all."
Devin angrily ran to the door, but before he left, he turned to me with his red eyes glowing. "If your mate is with me, I'll kill him first." Those were his last words before he was gone.
Wait, what did he just say?
I thought about everything I just said and then I understood. He had come to save me. So he still wanted me.
My heart skipped a few beats as I realized I might finally be able to get out of here. But could I do it? What if Steven is really here and Devin makes his threat a reality.
Startled by the fact that Steven might be here, I jumped up too. I have to stop Devin!
I sprinted to the door and wanted to follow him, but this young hunter grabbed my arm again.
"I'm sure he doesn't want you to come after him. You're only there to bear his children, after all," he said, disgust in his voice.
Clearly hunters had a big problem with women. Why are they so misogynistic and think we're only there to have children? What century are they living in?
Furious, I turned to snarl at the hunter. "FUCK YOU!" I growled before pushing him off me and finding Devin.
I hope I'm not already too late...
