Stevens P.O.V.
Arsen just called me to his office as they might finally have a lead on my beautiful mate's whereabouts.
"Where is she?" I asked out of breath as I ran into his office. If they have a lead, I want to see her right away. I can't waste another second of my time on other things.
"We don't know yet, but maybe this 'Alpha' can help us there." Arsen said the word 'Alpha' with a lot of disgust and irony in his voice. Then I first looked in the direction in which his arm was pointing and noticed that we were not alone in the office.
On his black leather couch, which was standing in here, sat one of these rogues, with brown hair and green eyes. He looked a lot like my mate and then I remembered she kept talking about her brother. Still, I growled at the stranger wolf in front of me to show him that I wasn't to be trifled with when it came to my mate.
“This is Jaxon Stone. As far as we know, he is Silva's brother. We were hoping she would be with you, but unfortunately she wasn't and now we're hoping he can tell us where your mate is." said the Beta, standing in front of Jaxon and him with folded arms closely observed.
"Where is she?" I growled at him. If he knows where she is, then he'd better come clean! He just shrugged.
"By Devin," he replied emotionlessly.
"YOU MEAN THE DEVIN WHO WANTED TO SLIT HER THROAT?" I yelled at him now. I couldn't believe what he was saying. Wasn't his sister important to him in any way? Last time I met this Devin When she was gone, he wanted to kill her. Just thinking about what he might have done to her by now breaks my heart. It was all my fault. It's my fault that he has her. If I had known her disappearance sooner , maybe Devin couldn't have kidnapped her that easily.
"I mean the Devin who always gives her a good fuck." He started laughing at that and watched me closely, taking in my every emotion. Can he have...
The next moment I was standing in front of him, grabbed his throat and pulled him off the sofa.
"Say that again." This time my voice sounded deep and menacing. I felt a tremendous amount of anger inside me. I wanted to rip him to pieces on the spot.
"You heard me right. He's probably fucking her right now."
Not being able to process what he said properly, I threw him against one of the bookshelves, from which, upon Jaxon's impact, books tumbled out and landed on his head. Serves him right.
Again I approached him menacingly, but Costa grabbed my shoulder and stopped me.
"Enough," he said in a tone of command.
Totally inappropriate at that moment, Arsen suddenly started laughing behind me. "Believe me, I would have killed you back then, too, when I found out that you kissed Aurelia and when you almost went further." Arsen's face darkened again at this thought. "I'll call it karma."
I don't know how stupid I am, but now I started growling at my alpha. You couldn't really compare this situation to that. My mate was in danger. I was never a threat to Aurelia. I would never have hurt her, but who knows what this Devin is doing to my mate against her will.
Arsen, of course, immediately resented my rebelling against him, which made him snarl back. "Don't forget your rank," he growled in a dark voice.
"Fuck me." I kept snarling at him. I finally wanted to know what happened to my mate.
Suddenly, this Jaxon laughed, still sitting on the floor with his back against the bookshelf.
Arsen and I both turned to this idiot and this time growled at him. He then only raised his hands soothingly.
"Now I finally want to know where my mate is." I tried again. "You have to understand us. She said you're not like other outcasts. You were born that way, right?" I tried to remember everything Silva ever said about her brother. Maybe I could build a bridge to him like that.
And it really seemed to be working, for his grin gave way to a sad expression. I actually managed to break his facade.
"We packless people never get a chance at a normal pack. Everyone hates us, but nobody knows us. You don't even bother to get to know us. If you notice us, you will immediately perceive us as a threat and kill us, but not all of us are evil. Silva is an exception. She managed to find a pack." he began to talk.
"Then start cooperating," the Alpha said emphatically. "And maybe..." He suddenly started to think. "Maybe you'll get a chance for a place in the pack and then you can play mate balls. You might find your mate."
Jaxon's expression brightened a little at first, until Arsen's last words suddenly snarled his features.
"She's dead," he suddenly said coldly. "And I killed her." With a jerky movement he lifted his head and yellow cold eyes looked at us.
'He'll never come out with the language,' I thought to myself. After all, he killed his mate. Then he can't care what's up with his sister and my mate.
However, he continued: "Devin works with hunters. They have a base out there in the woods. Unfortunately I can't tell you more... I'm sorry."
"Hunters," the alpha suddenly growled. No wonder, after all, hunters killed his parents.
"I...I think I can g-lead you guys there," Jaxon said, more than intimidated. He's probably frightened by the alpha being tense as he is right now. Arsen himself just fixed some spot on the wall and seems to be lost in thought while continuing to snarl, hating the hunters, he's probably imagining crushing them with his bare hands.
"Then we should go immediately!" I didn't want to waste any time. If Jaxon knows where his sister is, then he should take me there immediately.
Arsen, meanwhile, seemed to be back in the here and now as he gave instructions for the warriors to get ready while Costa was to stay with the pack in case anything happened.
And not even an hour later we went as wolves on the way to my mate...
Silva, I will come to your rescue.
