I didn't think twice and started telling the Alpha everything I had learned there. From the fact that Devin is a born alpha and descended from the Nox line, to his plans with the hunters, to the experiments they do in the basement and the so-called hybrids.
The alpha walked tensely through his office while Steven was now holding Felia. Alpha Arsen kept running his fingers through his black hair. He too was overwhelmed with all this information. But one thing still interested me. Didn't they defeat the hunters when Steven and I were fighting?
"What actually happened after you and Devin fought?" I asked the alpha, who finally stopped.
"Devin and I fought while the warriors fought the hunters. Everything looked like we were going to win and then Devin just ran away. They clearly didn't expect anyone out there to find them or they would have been prepared, but we caught them completely by surprise. That's why Jaxon is under the protection of our pack for now, as I suspect Devin wants revenge for betraying him. Still, I don't trust him. He's an outcast..." Alpha Arsen told me.
"Now what?" Steven asked. "I mean, his plan with the kids he'll use as an alpha someday won't work anymore. After all, Silva is my mate now."
"Don't be too sure about that. If he really wants Silva that badly, then he will continue to use her for his plans. Now that you've completed your mate band doesn't mean he can't impregnate her." Steven immediately started growling again after the Alpha said that. Still having the sleeping pup in his arms, the Alpha took it the girl and sat down on the black leather couch with his daughter.
"Hey it's good. Everything will be fine." I tried to reassure my mate by stepping in front of him and resting my hands on his chest. It actually worked and his ice blue eyes met mine while a loving look spread across his face.
"Do you know when the first attack will start?" asked the black-haired one, to whom my back was just turned.
"As far as I know, the next full moon."
"Fuck, that's in a week and a half."
"Arsenic! Stop your 'fuck' in front of our kids." Surprised, I turned to the door where Luna Aurelia was standing. She had her younger son in her arms and she put him down.
With unsteady steps he walked through the office until he stopped in front of his father. There he clawed at his right pant leg and pulled on it.
"Lia Baby," he kept repeating, reaching out for his little sister.
Luna Aurelia gave Steven and I a smile before finally going over to her mate and sitting next to him. There she took Felia from her husband and Alpha Arsen took little Steven on her lap.
"Where's Arian?" the alpha now asked.
The Luna sighed once before she spoke. "He's raging outside with Sebasti-..." She didn't get any further because suddenly a completely harried-looking beta ran into the office.
"Arsenic?! Hunter! Your grandfather..." he said some incoherent words. But the alpha immediately interrupted him when he heard the word hunter and all alarm bells went off in him again.
"What?"
"I'm sorry. Your grandfather and all the elders in the world became..." Costa swallowed.
"What about them?" the Alpha growled angrily.
"...They were killed." The Beta lifted its head, which was previously facing the earth, and looked at its Alpha pityingly.
"No," said little Steven suddenly at this completely inappropriate moment. But he didn't know what was going on here. So he's forgiven.
That was the cue for Aurelia. She leaned in to her mate again and gave him a loving kiss on the cheek. Then she took little Steven from Alpha Arsen's lap and walked out of the room with him by the hand and Felia in her arms.
"So it's started," the Alpha muttered to himself. He didn't even seem to be grieving for his grandfather much. Instead, he just stared at a point on the wall and his hands clenched into fists. He was clearly very, very angry .
"It's started," I repeated his words, looking up into my mate's worried face, a little concerned. Now it was getting serious, because who knows how much time we have before the hunters attack all the packs.
And one thing was clear. This fight would bring its victims in every pack. Nobody knows who is still alive in the end and who is not. I can only hope that my mate is not harmed...
"What do you think Devin will do next?" I asked my brother.
We sat outside by a large pond on a bench. Behind us, a few meters away, stood my mate and one of the warriors who is supposed to look after my brother, since the alpha doesn't trust him.
"I don't know." Jaxon rested his head in his hands before looking me in the face again and speaking on have to tell the rest of the packs in the world. I think he's going to get all the hunters together now and then start his plan."
"Well, he's already started," I tried to say as calmly as possible. However, the fact that Devin actually managed to kill all the elders in the world in one fell swoop scared me. How could he have done it? There can't be that many hunters, can there?
"What do you mean?" Jaxon asked a little confused. So he hasn't gotten yesterday's message yet.
“Devin has already implemented the first part of his plan. So the part with the elders."
"WHAT???" Jaxon jumped up angrily, which also startled me. "Then he certainly won't wait until the next full moon."
"Yeah, but do you really think he's going to be able to suppress all the packs just like that?" Of course I was worried, but since our pack, which so easily flattened the hunters, I'm a little doubting the implementation. Never the hunters can take on so many werewolves.
"Silva, you don't know what weapons the hunters have been making all this time. This quarters where you were was far from being the main base of the hunters."
"Then where is this main base?" I asked, a little irritated.
"How should I know? Do you think Devin trusted me so much that he would have told me?" He also spoke a little more irritably now. "I also think that not even Devin knows that."
"Did you know who Devin is? So who is he really?"
"Not at first, but I always had a suspicion since he didn't like to obey orders and was bigger and stronger than other wolves. I found my mate a few weeks ago." Jaxon looked at the pond and smiled sadly. "Then I found out with Devin."
"Devin said you killed her because of me. Why?" Actually, I didn't want to ask that. But it kind of just slipped out of me.
Jaxon gave a desperate laugh before continuing. “Because she was one of the hunters. She was human. I didn't even know how something like this could happen. Before I ended up in this pack, I thought I was the only one with a human mate." I stepped closer to my brother and put a sympathetic hand on his shoulder. However, I was careful not to get too close come because Steven is even more jealous since the tagging than he already was.
"So you killed her because she was human?"
"God no. I killed her because she was a Slayer and I was afraid she would hurt you or someone else, but primarily you."
I said nothing more. What else should I have said about that? Jaxon killed his mate to protect me. I was overwhelmed with it. I can't even tell him that that was the right thing to do, after all she was his soul mate. If I said it was wrong, I would shoot myself out again because he did it for me. So now we both sat here and stared at the big pond in front of us.
"I smelled her and other hunters on the last full moon in the forest. They camped not far from our 'pack house' and I thought they were going to attack our pack. After I killed her, I went straight to Devin and fortunately interrupted you both. Devin then told me part of his plan, but by that point Grace had already bled to death."
Jaxon rested his head in his hands again. "I just killed her, my mate. My Grace." He began to sob. It was the first time I had seen him cry. "It's all my fault. If only I hadn't been so quick to react." He sobbed again. Then he suddenly looked at me with wet eyes. "After you went to your pack mate, Devin told me his full plan and offered to take you as his mate. He assured me that he would protect you and that you would be safe with him, so I led him here so he could take you."
"But he knocked me unconscious!"
“That was also the point where I thought about whether it was really the right way. Well, after that I was home until the pack picked me up looking for you."
"And then you told them where I was. Thank you." I complete his story.
"I hope I made the right decision. We'll find out if we manage to stop Devin."
"We'll work it out," I tried to be optimistic. I didn't like this doomsday mood at all. I just connected with my mate the night before last. I want to enjoy it while I still can.
When I think of his touch, how he entered me and took me... At the thought, my core immediately heated up again.
Suddenly, behind us, it cleared its throat. Immediately, Jaxon and I turned to see who it was.
The culprit was actually Steven, who stood tensely and gave me a slightly pleading look while scratching near his crotch.
Only then did I see what the problem was. Because his trousers seemed to get a little tight.
"I think you're forgetting that I can feel your arousal," he shared with me via Mindlink.
I quickly turned to Jaxon. "Uh...see you later then," I said, jumping up the next moment. Jaxon gave a short laugh, but then I was at Steven's and pulling his hand behind me towards the packhouse.
Getting there felt like an eternity until we finally reached his...our...room and Steven immediately slammed the door behind us, only to slam me in the next moment.
