###Chapter 424 Everyone's Soul Is Half Human And Half Ghost - Part 3
She hummed coldly, "I heard that you are an orphan and that you married Jordan Astley because of your grandmother's relationship. A man like Jordan needs a partner who can match with him, and you seem to be mentally ill. What a woman like you with no background can bring him is nothing but a drag."
If I had heard these words in the past, I would have felt inferior and uncomfortable. Now, upon hearing this, I was very calm. I looked back at her and smiled, "So, Miss Kent, what can you bring him?"
She was very arrogant, and this was undeniable. "My education, my ability, as well as my beauty, can bring him a lot of things. I can keep up with him. I can always keep up with him. But you, just a housewife, you know nothing about anything else."
I nodded and smiled. The arrogance of a woman is worth admiring, but that's all she has.
Looking at her, I didn't say anything to hurt her or any other disrespect. I just smiled and said, "Miss Kent, I look forward to one day you can take my place."
I turned around and smiled out of the ward. Luna was at the door. When she saw me suddenly open the door, she was slightly stupefied.
Her face looks a little different. I guess she heard almost everything.
She opened her mouth and wanted to say something. I smiled. I was one step ahead of her and said, "Go in."
She nodded and paused. "Miss Astley, can you wait for me downstairs for a moment?"
I was stupefied, nodded, and answered, "Alright."
She went in and I went downstairs.
The weather in the Capital was always cloudy and sunny. The sun is still shining in the morning, and dark clouds begin in the afternoon. It seemed that the next heavy snow begins again.
The heating was turned on in the car, and when Jordan called, I was a little drowsy.
"Still in the hospital?" The man's voice was low and magnetic, as good as ever.
I nodded, answered, and said, "How's it going with the company?"
When this matter began to continue to struggle, it was not easy to prepare for the annual leave.
He seemed to had just finished the meeting and said, "The public relations department will take care of it. I'll pick you up and have dinner with you later."
I thought about it. I guess I will have a chat with Luna later. I guess I can almost have dinner after the chat.
I can't help saying, "Mr. Astley, I have an appointment. I guess I may not be able to go with you."
He gave a hum, his voice slightly subdued, "do I know?"
Trying to tease him, I nodded and smiled, "That's right."
"Luna Malfoy?"
I was shocked and my lips drooped. "Jordan, did you ask people to follow me again?"
He smiled and said, "Don't be angry. There are not a lot of people staring at Astley Group. Only by ensuring your safety can I rest assured that you can go out."
I retorted without a word, but I said, "I'm not a child."
"Be good!" The man's voice was low and beautiful, with a bit of indulgence, and especially moving.
I curled my lips and was quiet.
Watching Luna come out of the hospital and stand at the door of the hospital, I waved my hand and pressed the horn.
Then I said to the phone, "Jordan, I have something to do. I have to hang up first."
Without waiting for Jordan to speak, I hung up the phone right away.
Luna heard the sound of the horn, looked sideways, and got into the car. I saw that her eyes were red and swollen. She had cried.
Although I didn't know what the relationship between her and Linda was, it doesn't seem to be as simple as I thought.
After a pause, I said, "It's dinner time. Let's get something to eat."
She nodded, raised her hand, and rubbed her face. She pulled a smile, looked at me, and said, "Thank you!"
I nodded and started the car.
Some things have been in your heart for a long time, even if you don't ask, it will run out of her eyes.
I didn't ask, but Luna said it herself, a little self-belittling.
"In the 1980s, when my mother was born in the countryside, she was an authentic rural woman. She had never read or could not write. Her relatively primitive education made her feel from the bottom of her heart that a woman must have a son all her life to be a real woman. So, after she gave birth to me, she began to give birth desperately in order to have a son."
At this point, she sighed slightly and felt helpless. "She gave birth to seven or eight children. There were boys, but as a curse, her son was always unable to grow up and died at a very young age. More than a decade later, she gave birth to another daughter, that is, Linda. Because she was a daughter, she didn't want it. She wanted to lose it. Luckily, Linda was picked-up and got adopted. The couple later went into business and made a fortune. I didn't have a child at the time, so I decided to raise her and let her study abroad."
I frowned. "Isn't that good?" It is a very lucky thing for an unpopular daughter to be adopted and brought up. How can she have such a big hatred with her?
She laughed at herself and sighed, "Well, that was wonderful. Later, my mother continued to give birth because she had always wanted a son. Linda later gave birth to a daughter, but that child was not as lucky as she was. After birth, my mother put her in the mountains. It snowed heavily that winter, so the child stayed in the mountains for seven days, no one adopted her, and she froze to death."
"It's cruel!"
I frowned, and my subconscious body trembled a little. "Her ignorant mother was terrible!" I thought.
Seeing me like this, she blinded her lips and said to herself, "I also know that it is my mother's fault. Her ignorance has harmed so many children. The gods said that there were cause and effect. After a few years, my mother finally gave birth to a son and raised her as she wished. She had sacrificed so many children, and she had gotten her to wish."
"Hmm!" I opened my mouth and couldn't help sighing, "It's a pity for those innocent children."
She nodded, snapped her fingers, and said, "It's not bad if things go on safe and sound, but there were causes and consequences. She wasted so many lives, and in the end, she had to bear the consequences just to have a son. Within a few years of giving birth to her son, she was out of health. Then she was devastated by my father's middle-aged affair. Later, in order to force my father to sever ties with that woman, she took pesticide paraquat. Because she was sent to the hospital in time, she survived, but her health has been ruined."
Having so many children one after another will have an extreme impact on the body.
Luna continued, "At the end of last year, my brother suddenly found out that he had blood cancer. In these years, the family was not rich. My mother struggled for many years, and there was little left in the family. She cobbled together some money for the operation, but the doctor said that the bone marrow of her relatives must be extracted in order to have a chance of being cured."
