Chapter-8

Yardan's pov

" I am so sorry, Mahi. Forgive me. It was a mistake. I didn't want to kiss that woman. It was an accident," I apologised to my wife Mahi holding her engagement ring.

Having a guilty voice I again apologised," That woman provoked me. I am sorry."

A few drops of tears escaped my eyes remembering that day when I lost my Mahi. I can't explain in words what I felt that day. My world collapsed seeing Mahi's motionless body. I know that she is no more but still I can feel her voice in my ear, her beautiful face & smile always flash in front of my eyes making me guilty and vulnerable that I couldn't save her when she needed me most.

I still remember the day when I first met her. It was one of the best days of my life. I went to Pakistan for a business meeting and there I met her. She was my client's employee. At a first glance, I didn't fall for her beauty. Of course, she was beautiful but her personality was something that attracted me. The way she talked, the way she handled every matter. Everything was just perfect about her. That day was a lucky day for me that I met my Mahi.

On our wedding night, I promised her that I will always be loyal to her. She was my first in everything and I promised that she will be last as well. But, what did I just do today? I kissed another woman!!!

I kissed Maryam whom I despise most. She was the reason for my Mahi's death and I kissed her. How could I just do that? I have sinned. I just hope Mahi will forgive me.

And, Maryam. Whenever I look at her I feel like strangling her to death. I didn't want to marry her but when I get to know that she was the reason behind Mahi's death I decided to marry her. After marrying her, I would make her life a living hell. That was my planning. I wanted to avenge my Mahi.

But, then what? What will happen if I torture Maryam? What will I gain? Will my Mahi come back from the grave? No, she won't. The damage is already done and except for accepting the truth, I can't do anything. Moreover, my kids are fond of Maryam so I can't hurt her physically. I refused to hurt her in any form but whenever I look at her face automatically my mind reminds me of Mehzabin's death and I feel like killing Maryam.

But, I don't know what happened to me today I kissed that woman. I don't know why I was jealous of seeing her talking to my cousin. She was looking so comfortable with another man that just made my blood boil. Why did I do that? I even told her that she is my wife. But, in reality, I don't even acknowledge her existence.

Anyway, whatever happened, I can't change it. But, I have to clear something with her. I can't let her think that I am interested in her. She is nothing for me. She is just a substitute mother for my children.

Author's pov

Maryam was wiping her lips with a tissue. She was rubbing it so hard that her lips turned red completely. She still can taste him inside her mouth. Coming out of the washroom she fell on the bed looking at the ceiling. She closed her eyes and automatically that kissing scenery flashed in front of her eyes.

" Miki, I am sorry. What I have done?" Maryam thought mentally and a few drops of tears escaped her eyes.

The only man she ever kissed was none other than Mikaeel. Her first kiss was with him and she promised him that except for him she won't let another man touch her. And, that's why after sharing a kiss with Yardan, she was feeling guilty and sad. Though her relationship with Mikaeel ended, still she couldn't forget those promises, those dreams she saw with Mikaeel.

" He is your husband, not any stranger. He can kiss you. It's not a big deal," Her subconscious tried to console her.

Maryam replied sounding confused and sad," But, Mikaeel!! I broke the promise I made to him."

" Forget about Mikaeel. You are married and Yardan is now your everything. Accept this truth and your life will be easier," Her subconscious suggested but Maryam only nodded her head in the negative.

She whispered crying," It's not easy for me to forget Mikaeel. I loved him since I was 14. My everything was him and how can I just forget him so easily. I can't. I can't. I still love him."

" But, he doesn't love you anymore. Do you still think he loves you even after knowing how you betrayed him and ditched him?" Maryam's subconscious shouted and Maryam burst into tears.

Maryam was still shedding tears when Yardan barged inside her room. With a thud sound, he closed the door and Maryam got startled by the sudden noise. Before she could even say anything he marched toward her.

Clutching her jaw tightly he shouted on her face," It was an accident so don't hope anything from it. The only feeling I have for you is hatred."

Jerking his hands away she replied angrily," And, I didn't invite you to kiss me. It was you who came forward."

" You provoked me," He accused her and she frowned her brows confusingly.

He yelled in her face," You provoked me to kiss you. I know cunning women like you."

" Have you lost your mind? What are you even saying? Why would I provoke you?" She questioned standing up?

He answered having an annoyed voice," Because you want to take Mehzabin's place. You want to be my wife and that's why you provoked me. But, let me tell you one thing for the last time, I don't consider you as my wife and will never consider you as my wife."

Maryam was tired after hearing the same thing again and again. Why he always thinks that she wants to take Mehzabin's place.

" Listen, Mr Shamsi. Stop giving you so much importance ok. I am not interested in an old hag like you. Have you ever seen yourself in the mirror? Do you think any woman will be interested in your slightly white hair, wrinkled face and not so handsome appearance? My sister was blind that she loved someone like you," Maryam finished saying and it was a direct insult for Yardan.

He couldn't tolerate her words and left the place hurriedly. Before leaving he told her to not keep any expectations from this marriage and she agreed as well. She is also not interested in this marriage.
