Doctor Kedeva
My heart skipped a beat when I found Alpha Maseno waiting at the gate. It was already past midnight, and I didn't expect to find anyone awake, let alone Alpha Maseno. He had always been a night owl, but this late hour surprised me. Curiosity piqued, and I approached him cautiously, wondering what could have brought him out at such an unusual time.
My wolf kept shifting uncomfortably at the back of my head, making me more worried. Alpha Maseno called my name, but I didn't respond. It's not that I didn't want; I wanted to, but my stupid voice box couldn't let me utter the yes word.
I could feel the frustration building up inside me as I desperately tried to respond to him. The silence between us grew heavy, filled only by the restless whispers of the night. I wished for a moment that my wolf could speak for me, as it seemed to understand my thoughts better than I could express them myself.
He called again, but I still remained silent. Panic, guilt, and fear washed over me as he strode toward me.
I could see the concern in his eyes. Wait, it was anger. He was of course mad at me for being silent, even though he had called me two times already, something he never does.
His brow furrowed with something I couldn't read—the weight of my inability to respond weighing heavily on my shoulders, making it difficult to meet his gaze. I yearned for a way to break through this barrier, to let him know that my silence was not a rejection but a limitation beyond my control.
"Has he found out that I was out meeting his enemy?" I asked my wolf, who remained silent. He had the ability to read people's minds, so I wanted him to watch Alpha Maseno closely and tell me what was going through his head.
Alpha Maseno approached and I could see the anger in his eyes and the tension in his body. My heart raced, wondering if he had discovered my secret alliance. I desperately hoped my wolf would uncover his thoughts and provide me with some reassurance.
"Say something, please. What's going on in his head?" I pleaded with my wolf, hoping that he would break his silence and give me some insight into Alpha Maseno's thoughts. I needed to know if my secret was safe or if I was about to face the consequences of my actions.
The anticipation was overwhelming, and I couldn't help but fear the worst as I waited for my wolf's response.
"Are you crazy? Since when was I able to read Alpha Maseno?" He asked, and I muttered a silent oh. My wolf has never succeeded in cracking through Alpha Maseno's head, let alone me; no one has ever, but I always had a hunch that Beta Sony could, because everyone went to him before approaching Alpha Maseno.
They always wanted to be sure that it was the right time before knocking at his office door, but Beta Sony never revealed what he saw or heard, keeping Alpha Maseno's thoughts and intentions a mystery to everyone. It was as if Alpha Maseno had an impenetrable fortress around his mind, leaving us all wondering what truly went on inside.
"Doctor Kedeva. I need your help." His voice jarred me from my half-conscious state of mind. The sense of fear and guilt I was having suddenly washed away and was replaced with concern. He looked really worried, and I could see the desperation in his eyes. It was unusual for him to be so visibly shaken, as he was known for his composed demeanor. I immediately straightened up, ready to listen and offer any assistance I could.
"Come with me to the office." I asked, and he led the way down the hallway. The moment we entered my office, I motioned for him to take a seat while I closed the door behind us. It was clear that whatever he needed help with was weighing heavily on his mind, and I wanted to create a safe and confidential space for him to share his concerns.
"What help do you need?" I asked while crouching forward to lean on the table and listen to him.
"Not me, but Sony." He responded, turned, and led me down the hallway to his room, where he pushed the bedroom door open and asked me to get in.
Instead of following me inside, he stepped out and looked around. This made me nervous. I pulled my handkerchief from my trouser pockets and dapped it on the sweat that had broke and formed on my forehead. I casually looked at him and trying once again to shake the feeling that he was aware of where I was coming from and that I had been interacting with his enemy off my head.
He had anger for me, and though I couldn't hear it in his voice, I saw it in his eyes. His eyes had changed from orange, his calm nature to glowing red, and he darted his irises around, his dangerous aura plaguing the air around us.
He paced around, sniffing and growling faintly as he crimpled his eyes against the darkness. That behavior of his made me have a feeling I couldn't explain. The only thing I knew about me at that moment was that I was scared.
"Where are you going? Won't you come in?" I asked when he was going to shut the door. He narrowed his eyes at me, his human nature disappearing as his beastly form slowly took over him."What's wrong with Sony?" I quickly changed the topic to escape whatever was about to fall over me.
"He ate nuts, and you know he's allergic to them. Nothing should happen to him; I repeat nothing." At this point, I could see smoke from his ears and mouth. I nodded, slammed the door shut, and ran to sit on the chair by the bedside, my heart pounding in my chest.
I had to sit for a while before checking on him because of how shacky my hands had become. A new feeling was all over me as well. I felt like I was being followed, and someone was watching me. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up, and a chill ran down my spine. It was as if an invisible presence was lurking in the shadows, causing an eerie sensation to fall over me.
I earlier felt that when I walked into Alpha Maseno's room, but I shook the feeling off when I darted my eyes around but saw nothing. However, as I sat in the chair, the feeling intensified, making me uneasy. Goosebumps prickled my skin, and a sense of dread washed over me. I couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong.
A whimpher beside me jarred me from my thoughts. “oh, shoot.“ I screamed internally and jumped into action, checking Sony's temperature and figuring out a way to help him.
I quickly grabbed the thermometer and gently placed it under Sony's tongue, anxiously waiting for the reading. As I brainstormed possible remedies, my mind raced with worry, desperately searching for a solution to ease Sony's discomfort as soon as possible, because I knew that Alpha Maseno would walk in any moment and he would be mad at me if he'd find him still in that painful state.
It wasn't a secret anymore. Sony was his wife, and he was really possessive of him. Sony's pain was his as well, and that was why he insisted that nothing should happen to him.
Alpha Maseno's protectiveness over Sony was well-known among me and his dad. His love for Sony was evident in the way he would hover over him, making sure he was safe and cared for at all times. The thought of facing Alpha Maseno's anger if Sony remained in pain filled me with a sense of urgency to find a solution quickly.
“You are nervous.“ Sony's weak voice said to me.
“Me? No. I am not nervous, why would you think that way?“ I smiled trying to convince him that I was super okay and I wasn't nervous at all but I doubt if he bought that. Sony's eyes narrowed as he studied my face, clearly unconvinced by my feeble attempt at reassurance. The truth was, I was terrified.
“Do you know that you smell different today? Sony's weak voice said to me, his words barely audible.
I chuckled nervously, trying to divert his attention away from my fear. "Oh, really? Maybe it's just a new perfume I'm wearing," I replied, hoping he wouldn't notice the trembling in my voice. Deep down, I knew that my anxiety was unmistakable.
"Whoever you went to meet has surely set you in a trap.“ His words froze me but I couldn't ask him much more because he fell unconcious. My heart raced as I stared at him, now unconscious. Panic surged through me as I wondered what could have made him say those words and what danger I had unknowingly walked into.
"Someone set me up? What the hell do you mean, Sony?" I asked, though I never got an answer because he was still unconscious.
