Alpha Maseno
A continuous ringing sound made me jolt out of bed to see what was going on. Because I hadn't taken the quilt off me when I sprung out, I tripped on it, landed on my rear end, and rolled on the cold and hard floor before knocking on the table beside the bed.
I forced myself to sit, rubbing and scratching the areas that ached most. "What the hell was that?" I asked myself, my eyes roaming around, looking for the source of that noise.
I caught sight of the white bedside clock that was still ringing loudly and buzzing around as an effect of its own vibration. I cursed, pulled myself to my feet, and walked to it.
With anger surging through me, I grabbed it and smashed it against the wall. It stopped ringing the moment it made contact with the wall and fell, breaking into a million tiny pieces. Silence returned to the room, and I took a deep breath to calm myself down.
My eyes caught sight of the black quilt still lying on the ground. I scooped it with my leg and angrily threw it back on the bed. The same second it landed on the bed, I climbed back, hoping to drift off to slumber land again.
A figure stirred beside me, and I jerked up, realizing my mistake. "Thank goodness he is not awake." I sighed, unconciously running my fingers through my tangled hair, glad that my dramatic awakening didn't wake Sony up.
I grabbed the quilt that was now lying at the end of the bed and gently pulled it upwards to cover and shield him from the cold draft of the room. After I successfully tucked him in, I pecked him on the forehead and silently slipped out of the room, leaving him to peacefully continue his slumber.
My first destination was the bathroom, where I ran a warm bath for Sony before stepping under the shower. Unlike him, I like having cold baths in the morning because they fully wake me up and make me feel alive again.
I winced as the icy droplets cascaded down my body, washing away the remnants of sleep and leaving me feeling refreshed and ready to start the day.
After the cold shower, I grabbed a towel from the rack and dried my body. A wide smile spread across my lips when I caught the bluish marks spread all over my skin. I smiled as the memories of last night came flooding down my brain. Sony did keep his promise, and I was glad because if he hadn't, I would have been forced to punish him.
Retreating back to the room, I found Sony already awake. He still sat on the bed, his head swaying because he hadn't fully woken up yet. I chuckled softly at the sight. His messy hair and sleepy expression made him look cute. Walking over to him, I gently shook his shoulder, whispering, "Time to wake up, sleepyhead."
"Let me be." He grumbled, slapped my hand away, and turned to face the wall. I didn't let him be, knowing that we had a busy day ahead and he couldn't afford to sleep in any longer. With a playful grin, I pulled the covers off him, exposing his bare feet to the cool morning air.
"I said let me be." He yelled, wrinkling his face as if he were about to cry. He has always been like this—grumpy when he wakes up. I gently lifted him off the bed and carried him to the bathroom.
I set him down and retreated back to the room to grab a bathrobe for him. When I walked back, I found him still standing, his hands crossed on his chest, and his lips curled into a pout, clearly not in the mood for our morning routine. Despite his protests, I patiently began to help him get ready for the day, knowing that his grumpiness would soon fade away after he fully awakened.
Stripping down his pajamas, I carried him to the bathtub and noticed a faint smile forming on his face as the warm water from the shower hit his skin. I gently washed him, making sure to use his favorite scented soap, which always seemed to brighten his mood.
"Goodmorning, love." I greeted him as I wrapped him in a fluffy towel and carried him to our room. He looked up at me with sleepy eyes and mumbled a soft "good morning" in return.
Walking into the walk-in closet, I chose matching outfits for us. It was a Monday morning anyway, so we were supposed to be in business attire because we were holding a meeting today.
A black suit with matching black leather shoes and black watches was enough for the day. A chuckle escaped my lips when I saw him curled up on the bed and dozing off. I tossed his pair of clothes toward him, forcing him to wake up and sit up. "Come on, we've got a meeting to attend," I said, trying to sound both firm and encouraging. He groaned but reluctantly got up, rubbing his eyes and yawning.
"Why do we have to wake up? Can't we sleep continuously?"I chuckled again at his groggy complaint.
"Unfortunately, responsibilities don't allow for uninterrupted sleep," I replied with a sympathetic smile. "But don't worry; once the meeting is over, you can catch up on your rest."
He grinned at me—a forced grin, of course—and nodded. "I know. I just wish I didn't have to sacrifice my sleep for work," he said, stifling another yawn. "I just need a few more minutes to fully wake up."
I patted his back reassuringly. "Take your time, but remember, the sooner we get going, the sooner we can come back and relax."
I left him inside the room and stepped out into the hallway. Doctor Maria, who was approaching, stopped when she saw me. I walked to her and mumbled good morning, which she returned. "You came looking for yesterday." I asked, recalling that she had come, and I ended up asking her to leave since it was late in the night.
"Yes Alpha. I came to talk to you." She responded and bowed her head slightly.
"Yes. Is there anything you want?" I asked while leading the way to my office. "You can get in." I said this when I opened the door and walked to my seat. I leaned on the table and gestured for her to take a seat across from me. "Please, have a seat," I said, indicating the chair. "Now, is there anything you need?" I asked again and looked her in the eye, waiting for her response.
"Yes. I wanted to let you know that Maria will be undergoing the process today in case you have a change of mind," she replied.
"Mmh." I hummed while leaning back on my seat. "I am not having any change of mind. Also, Sony has no problem, so yes, you can go ahead." I continued, "Just make sure to keep me updated on her progress throughout the process." I titled my head in question when she looked at me in confusion.
"Maria. Have you heard me?" I tapped my fingers on the table to get her attention.
She snapped back into reality and chuckled, "Yes, Alpha. I'll keep you updated."
I nodded, satisfied with her response. "Good. That's all I ask for," I said, dismissing her with a wave of my hand.
She reached for the door but never stepped out. She grabbed the door's bolt and turned to look at me with the same confusion on her face. I cleared my throat, and before she could walk out, I called her back and asked, "Is there anything else you want to say or ask?"
She smiled nervously and cleared her throat. "I was just wondering why you involved Sony in this."
''Involved Sony? In what?" I raised my brow inquiringly.
She hesitated for a moment before responding, "Well, you just said that you asked Sony about this, and because he is okay with it, then you'll go ahead with the process. It just seemed odd to me." She shrugged as if saying, I don't mean anything bad.
"Odd?" I smirked, tilting my head sideways. "It isn't odd, Doctor Maria. By now, you should know that I involve Sony in everything I do because, after all, I didn't get to finish my sentence because I was interrupted. The door was pushed open, and a figure walked in.
"Hello, Maria," the figure said. It was Sony.
He walked straight to me, sat on my lap, planted a kiss on my lip, and grabbed my laptop. "What are you doing?" He asked while looking at the screen.
"Preparing for the meeting. I am glad that you are no longer grumpy." I teased him and wrapped my hands around his waist. Seeing that Maria was still standing at the door, waiting for me to finish my sentence, I told her, "Well, because after all, he's my boyfriend."
She widened her eyes in surprise and exclaimed, "I had no idea you two were dating! You two make such a cute couple!" Her reaction made me blush. She stepped closer toward us, a mischievous smile forming on her lips. "The mighty Alpha Maseno is blushing." She teased, wriggling her eyebrows viciously.
"Oh, please, Maria." I rolled my eyes playfully. "You do know I don't blush easily."
She chuckled, her teasing nature evident. "Well, I guess your beta Sony has a special power then," she quipped, causing both of us to laugh. "But seriously, for how long have you been keeping this a secret?" she asked, genuine curiosity in her eyes. "I mean, you two seem so comfortable together."
"Well, I titled my head to look at Sony, who smiled at me. "Two months. Almost three." I looked at Sony again, who nodded in confirmation.
"That long?" She gasped and then said, "You guys, I should come to you both and learn some tips on how to keep a secret. You make it seem effortless." She laughed and playfully nudged Sony's arm. "I can't believe you managed to keep it under wraps for so long without anyone suspecting a thing!" Sony chuckled and shrugged, exchanging a knowing glance with me.
Raising my head to look at her, I responded, "It hasn't been easy, but we've learned to trust each other and communicate effectively. It's all about finding that balance, because if one of us were to have a slip of the tongue, then I don't know. But it feels good sharing this with you." I smiled.
"Oh, my God. You are smiling too." She palmed her mouth and squealed like a fangirl. "Maseno, it's so good to see you behaving like a real human with feelings and emotions. I am so happy that I want to cry." Her voice cracked at the end.
“Come on, Maria. You don't want me to cry too, do you?“ Sony asked and reached for her hand, which he squeezed.
“No. I don't want to make you cry. I am happy for you guys. I have a question, though." She asked while wiping her tears with the back of her hand.
“Sure, go ahead.“ I nodded, nudging her to ask.
“Have you guys?" She trailed a mischievous glow, sparking deep inside her eyes. “Done it?“ She asked, causing Sony to choke.
“Oh, no, no, no, no. I didn't want you to choke. Here, drink some water.“ She poured a glass of water and handed it over to him. “With that reaction, I got my answer. Yes, they did it.“ She laughed while clapping her hands in celebration.
Sony blushed and burried his face on my neck. I rubbed his back gently, laughing at his reaction.
“What are you guys celebrating about?“ A voice asked from the door. The three of us turned our heads and took sight of the figure.
“You? What are you doing here? Who let you in?“ I asked and rose from my chair.
“Come on, Maseno. Guests are welcomed with drinks, not questions.“ The person chuckled and walked over to the guest couch. He flopped on it, crossed his right leg on top of the other, and smirked at me. “Good morning to you too, Alpha Maseno.“ He said this while pouring a glass of water for himself.
“Quite being dramatic, and tell me what the hell you are doing here, Beta Kelvin.“ I growled, feeling my wolf stirring at the back of my head, ready to take over in case he was up to no good.
