Chapter 10
Chapter 10
After the events of that day, the saintess went back to healing people with a warm(fake)smile on her face until everyone tacitly erased the memory of her attitude at the hero selection tournament from their heads.
Zary went around the empire and other countries saving villages, killing monsters, bandits and assassins sent by nobles who were unsatisfied that a commoner was wielding the holy sword.
In reality the main reason she went around doing good was because she just wanted to play with the holy sword and fight strong monsters and or people, but regardless of the motive her reputation rose, and she became as popular and even more well regarded than the saintess.
The saintess also went with Zary on a few of her adventures; she’d have gone on all of them if it wasn’t for the church.
Jin ended up going back to his family, Even though he had gotten stronger over the years, the fact that he didn’t become the hero and was still unable to cast magic, his treatment was even worse than before, not only did his parents never say a single word to him but they also told the servants not to deliver any food to him.
He wasn’t even allowed at the dining table; he had to eat leftovers in the fridge or try making food himself.
The few times he tried ordering the servants to make him food, they completely ignored him and even bad mouthed him behind his back.
After a week of that, he picked up a chair and slammed it directly into the head of a maid.
After that whenever a servant ignored his orders, he just beat the daylights out of them.
Some servants got the message and started obeying him like they do the rest of the family, some resigned and others went around complaining to the other members of the family, but only two of Jin’s brothers paid them any mind; his sisters didn’t care since none of their personal maids were harmed and his other brothers and parents just didn’t care about the servants at all even though his parents were the ones who gave them the orders that led to their current situation.
The 2 brothers that listened to the servants were the youngest and the third youngest, so Jin’s younger brother and his youngest older brother.
They didn’t really care about the servants either, they just wanted an excuse to make sure the failure knew his place.
While Jin was walking down the mansion’s hallway they both walked up to him.
“The poor servants have informed us of how you’ve been abusing them.”
“Right, even most of those servants can cast magic unlike you, so a pathetic magic-less failure like you really shouldn’t even be breathing the same air as them.”
“…Don’t call me that.”
“Call you what? Pathetic, magic-less or a failure? Because all are true in your ca-”
Jin planted his foot in the face of his older brother sending him crashing through the window landing headfirst into the ground outside.
His youngest brother looked at him in shock.
“W WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING YOU DAMN FAILU-”
He grabbed his younger brother by the face, leapt out the window and slammed him into the ground just a few feet from their older brother.
The older brother stood up with blood leaking down his face.
“YOU FUCKING DARE?!!!”
He leaped back, cast a golden flame spear and hurled it at Jin.
“DIE, YOU FAILURE!”
Jin leaped straight over the flame spear and once again connected his foot to the head of his older brother whose body slammed hard into the ground.
Jin mounted him then started raining down blows onto his face until it was swollen and half his teeth were gone.
He turned around just in time to see the three wind lances his younger brother fired at him.
He picked up his older brother using him as a shield while charging at his younger brother.
When he arrived before his younger brother, he grabbed his head and repeatedly slammed it into the dirt until he passed out.
After that his 2 brothers got punished by their father for losing to someone without magic while Jin himself got banished from the family.
He spent the next four years of his life as an adventurer until he heard an absurd rumor that the hero kidnapped the saintess to Sword Fein Academy.
Jin snuck back into his family’s house with the stealth skills he picked up over the years and with full knowledge of where all the detection spells and traps were, he stole the family’s most treasured magic sword then enrolled in Sword Fein Academy himself with the sole purpose of inflicting violence on the hero and saintess, the ones who made all his training in vain and called him a failure.
And now during this competition an opportunity had come.
He hid in a tree, waiting for them to pass by.
When he finally saw them passing by, he immediately took out the magic sword from storage.
The Sword was radiating golden lightning.
He swung the sword in their direction and a massive lightning bolt shot from it heading directly at them.
When the lightning hit them, Zary got pushed back, while the saintess who was completely unaffected ran past Jin completely ignoring him.
“Where the hell do you think you’re going?!”
He swung again firing even more lightning at the saintess, but just like before she was completely unaffected; she kept running like nothing happened until she was completely out of sight.
“Interesting.”
Jin turned back around after hearing Zary’s words.
“If you had a sword like that you should have come fight me sooner.”
She cracked her knuckles then balled them into fists.
“Let’s go!”
“Why aren’t you using the holy sword?”
“Obviously cause It’d be too easy then.”
Jin’s scowl grew deeper and his grip even tighter, tight enough to draw blood.
When his blood touched the sword, he felt something from the sword flowing into him then back to the sword over and over again until finally both his body and the sword were emitting lightning.
He held his left hand up to his eyes staring at the lightning radiating from it in wonder.
He tried imagining a spear then surprisingly to him, one actually formed in his left hand.
After all these years he was finally using magic.
He looked over at Zary who still looked completely unfazed.
He launched the spear at her.
She firmly planted her feet on the ground and swung her right fist at the upcoming spear.
When her fist connected to it the lightning spear exploded into sparks.
“This ain’t all you’ve got, is it?”
Jin took a step forward and instantly appeared before Zary.
He swung his lightning magic sword down at her with just his right hand.
She caught the wrist of his right hand with her left, completely ignoring the lightning radiating from him.
“You got faster at least.”
Jin gritted his teeth an swung his left foot at Zary’s face, but she caught it by the ancles then head-butted Jin sending him flying across the forest.
He landed in the middle of a horned wolf pack unintentionally vaporising them all with just the lightning being passively emitted from his body.
By the time he stood back up, Zary was already standing Infront of him.
He reflexively swung his sword horizontally at Zary.
She tilted her head easily avoiding it.
While she was busy dodging, he charged another lightning spear in his left hand and swung it at her stomach.
She leaped over the spear, standing on it with her left foot and kicking the side of Jin’s face with her right.
Once again, he flew across the forest, this time he landed on a giant spider’s web.
Just like before, both the spider and the web got vaporised.
And just like before, Zary was already in front of him before he could even notice.
Sigh
“This is getting kinda boring since you don’t got the power to hurt me, despite the increase in speed, so I’m done.”
Zary turned her back.
“That health bar over your head is already half empty, so you might as well try making it to the finish line while you still can.”
She started walking away.
Jin started charging another lightning spear in his left hand.
Zary stopped walking.
Jin started charging 34 other lightning spears above his head, 16 to his left and 18 more to his right.
Zary turned around.
The lightning magic sword grew brighter.
Zary started smiling.
Jin fired all 69 lightning spears at Zary.
She started running towards Jin, rapidly punching through all the lightning spears in her way.
While she was doing that, Jin held his sword above his head and poured all the lightning from his body into it.
When she got through all the spears and was just a few feet away from Jin, he swung down his sword firing all the lightning from it at Zary.
The lightning came crashing down on Zary leaving a giant explosion that vaporised the rest of the forest and eliminating a few other students who were nearby.
When the dust cleared, Jin couldn’t help but grin at what he saw.
Zary laying face first in a crater.
“Ha….Ha HaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA IS THAT ALL YOU’VE GOT HERO?!!! WHO’S THE FAILURE NOW?!”
“I’m not even the one who called you that.”
“Wha-??”
Jin didn’t want to believe what he was seeing.
Zary was now standing without a single scratch on her as if the scene of her laying in a crater from seconds ago was a lie.
Zary looked up above her head.
“Congrats, you actually managed to put a dent in my health bar, now it’s down to 98%.”
Jin’s feet unconsciously stepped back.
