Chapter 17 Weakness vs Strength
Jonathan could smell the morning wet grass. There was also the faint smell of rusty iron. He felt his body becoming heavy inside but was aware it wasn't a fever. He slowly opened his eyes, finding a few metal objects right before him.
He was lying on the ground. His hands were tied up. Slowly, Jonathan tried to recall what happened. He was heading out of the hotel, looking for the woman who was wearing a weird getup. Of course, he knew. Jonathan knew it was Stefani the moment he entered the elevator. Just the woman's scent alone was enough for Jonathan- to know it was his fiancee. What the brat was up to, Jonathan didn't know.
So when the younger sprinted out, Jonathan was also quick to follow her. The brat went to a dark narrow alley that made Jonathan worry even more. Then there he saw his fiance being attacked by a group of dangerous-looking men. Jonathan tried to fight them, remembering all the martial arts classes he had back where he studied and trained. But there were too many of them. And he didn't have any weapons with him. In the end, he couldn't win...
But Stefani... Where is Stefani?
"We're going to call her father then let them know the amount we want."
Jonathan frowned. They were after ransom money. They must've known Stefani's the only child of the owner of the HE Group. They kidnapped Stefani so they could ask for money from Mr. Hernandez. Jonathan sighed, if only Mr. Hernandez didn't go overboard in their fancy engagement party.
"A million is what I want," one of them said and laughed.
"She's an only child. You think they would be willing to give us a million? I say, let's go for one billion!"
More laughter echoed around.
Damn it, Jonathan cussed as he tried freeing himself from the rope around his wrists. A million, a billion, it doesn't matter anymore. For Jonathan, he only wanted to do one thing. That was to find Stefani and take her home, tuck her in her bed, surround her with good people, where she has always belonged to.
"Hn..."
Jonathan quickly looked around, moving a bit as he saw Stefani lying on the floor, tied up, a few feet from him.
"Stefani!" Jonathan whispered, feeling a wave of relief. Of course they wouldn't hurt Stefani. She was worth a billion to their eyes.
Jonathan gritted his teeth. He didn't like how these men thought of Stefani as a prize-worth object. Stefani didn't deserve this.
Jonathan, with all his strength, moved to where Stefani was. His eyes looked all over the younger's body, checking for any possible mark or wound. If they hurt Stefani in any way, Jonathan sure as hell to make them pay. And it definitely wasn't money Jonathan would be needing from them.
After a few minutes, Stefani slowly opened her eyes. "W..where..."
"Stefani."
The younger felt herself immediately blushed as she noticed how Jonathan's face was too close to her own. She almost shouted but her mouth was immediately covered by Jonathan's hand before she could do so.
"Shit," Jonathan cursed under his breath, feeling a slight pain on his wrist. He found a small shard of glass a while ago and tried to use it to cut the rope around his wrists. "Don't be too loud or they'll hear us... Are you okay?" He asked Stefani.
Stefani's eyes were still wide open as she slowly recalled everything.
"W-Where are we?" She whispered, a bit trembling out of fear.
Jonathan explained everything to the younger, glancing around cautiously while helping Stefani free from the rope.
Stefani was kidnapped. She brought this to herself. Because of her escape plan, they were attacked and kidnapped. Now they wanted ransom money. They were going to ask her father for money. But what about Jonathan?
"What about the other guy?"
They could hear the conversation of the men just a wall distance from them.
"Let’s end him."
