Thirty Weeks

KAYSEN*

Tanner and I had our first actual argument ever when he was being adamant about spending over one hundred thousand dollars on a decked-out third-row seating Lexus SUV. In the end, Tanner won, and we drove off the lot in our brand new Luxury Lexus SUV. Those determined mesmerizing hazel eyes burning into my sky blue eyes get me every time. Oh, and his signature only the best for my girls, and nothing less. I've come to figure out that I would most likely never win an argument when it came to money and Tanner spoiling Cora and me.

Cora had jumped up and down excitedly and screamed for joy when she saw our new car and got even more excited when she realized she could now watch movies in the back seat. I was glad Tanner was doing the driving because I was too afraid to drive around in such an expensive car. I'm not the spending money type of girl.

I've got more in common with Lyra regarding that aspect. But Blaze is so much like Tanner that even she has relented to letting Blaze have his way when it comes to spending money. She has told me a few times just to let the men do their own thing and enjoy every bit of what the men pamper us with. As I learned today, when I wanted the simple used SUV and Tanner wanted the brand spanking new decked out SUV. I have never in my life had a new car like this with only a couple of miles on it.

I'm glad Tanner didn't have a say in the dress I wore for our wedding because my dress cost less than what I spent on my boots, hat, and jewelry I had worn. My dress was an off-the-shoulder form-fitting mid-thigh length dress that showed off my perfectly shaped long legs; then, it had a train that went out only a couple of feet. It was beautiful, but it had only cost me around three hundred dollars. Versus my boots alone had cost close to five hundred, but I knew that I would wear them until they were falling apart, so that didn't bother me; the same goes for the cowgirl hat I had gotten.

ONE WEEK LATER*

The time had finally come for Tanner and me to find out if our babies were girls or boys, or a girl and a boy. Tanner and most of our family think most likely girls when Dr. Ryan and I seem to believe boy and girl.

Tanner helped me up on the bed, and I sat there trying not to pee myself while we waited for Dr. Ryan. I went overboard on the make sure you have a full bladder bit, so I hoped that this time wasn't one of those where we were waiting thirty minutes.

"You ok babe, you have a weird determined look on your face that I can't quite decipher," Tanner said as he brought me out of my thoughts.

"I'm trying to keep myself from peeing all over the place. My bladder hurts," I said as I tried to hold it in.

Just then, the nurse walked in to let us know that Dr. Ryan was a bit behind schedule, but she would be in shortly.

"I've got to pee; I can't hold it in; I am seriously about to pee all over the place, please, for the love of God, let me go to the bathroom," I said through clenched teeth, and she and Tanner chuckled.

"I'm being serious, damn it," I said and glared at the two of them. They both chuckled again, but the nurse decided to heed my words and let me go to the bathroom. Telling me not to let it all out. How can you go to the bathroom and stop it? Seriously.

So I tried my best, and somehow I was able to stop myself from relieving myself all of the way. I'm still a bit uncomfortable, but I feel better than I had before.

"Better?" Tanner asked when I walked back into the room.

"Somewhat, I'm just ready to know what we are having already, I'm excited, and when you need to pee, excitement isn't ideal," I said as Tanner helped me back up on the bed.

"I thought you went to the bathroom; why are you still feeling the need to go to the bathroom?" Tanner said as he looked at me questioningly.

"The nurse said I could go, but I had to stop myself from letting it all out, which was hard, by the way. So I feel better, but I still need to pee. Dr. Ryan better hurry the heck up is all I'm saying," I said and smiled.

Tanner and I made small talk for around fifteen minutes, then finally, Dr. Ryan walked through the door. More of the water I had drunk before arriving in the room had made its way to my bladder, and I was about to say to hell with it all and go to the bathroom anyway. So I'm glad she arrived.

"So sorry for your wait, I have a woman in labor, and I have been going back and forth between the maturity ward and the clinic all day. It's put me behind, but babies don't wait for no one," Dr. Ryan said as she shook our hands.

"Alright, let's get started; I'm excited to see if I was right. Judging by the heartbeats, I'm thinking a boy and a girl. What do you both think?" Dr. Ryan said as she squirts the warm gel on my belly.

"I'm one hundred percent sure these babies are girls. Mainly because before I ever met Kaysen, I knew if I ever had children, they would all be girls. Long story, but yes, I'm pretty sure they are girls," Tanner said with a smile, and he and I looked towards the screen.

Dr. Ryan took pictures and measurements and all of the more essential tasks. She was saying that everything was looking good with both babies. Then it was time for the moment of truth.

After ten minutes of Dr. Ryan searching for both babies' genders, she chuckled and looked over at Tanner, "It looks like Tanner was right. Both babies are girls, see for yourselves," she said as she pointed out both babies private parts.

"Time to load up the shotguns," Tanner said, and we all laughed.

Dr. Ryan handed Tanner the ultrasound pictures as I cleaned off my belly with the towel that was provided, and the nurse walked in to tell Dr. Ryan that the baby was completely dilated. She said her goodbyes and took off in a flash to deliver a baby.

TWO MONTHS LATER*

"I don't see how I'm supposed to make it another two months Tanner, look at me; I already look like I'm about to pop," I said as I stared at myself naked self in the full-length mirror in our bathroom.

I have gained about eighty pounds, and my boobs have grown into gigantic cantaloupes. Tanner helps me rub lotions all over my body twice a day, but the creams haven't helped with all of the stretch marks that keep popping up. I had only gained twenty pounds through my pregnancy with Cora, so I'm starting to get a bit mortified. Will Tanner still be attracted to me after all of this is over.

"I wouldn't have it any other way; if it were my choice, I would keep you pregnant forever, babe. You are so fucking gorgeous I can't keep my hands off of you," Tanner said as he came up behind me and put his arms around me and rested them on my belly; and then put his chin on my shoulder and kissed my neck.

"I love your mom but do we have to go to this party? I'm so tired, I can't sleep at night, and I would rather cure up in bed with you and sleep all day," I wined.

"You can't miss your own party now, can you. It'll be ok, let's go pacify my mom for an hour, and if you aren't feeling well after that, we will come home ok," Tanner said as he kissed me and then began to help me get dressed.

I can't believe I still have a month and a half to go. I don't think I'm going to make it that long.

I have never seen so many diapers, wipes, bottles, pacifiers, and other random baby products in my life. Then add the double stroller, car seats, baby swings, bouncers, and who knows what else Tanner and I had gotten; that I was starting at blankly while trying to keep a permanent smile on my face.

Diana had gone overboard and had invited more people to the baby shower than she had invited to our homecoming party. Though I'm grateful for everything Diana has done, with my mom's help, of course, I was beyond exhausted.

"Tanner dear, I don't want to seem ungrateful, but I don't feel well; I need you to take me home,"

Just then, I felt a cramping sensation in my belly that I knew was not Braxton Hicks. I'm only thirty weeks pregnant; maybe I was just so tired that it seemed like a contraction.

Tanner looked at me with concern since I had winced from the pain and placed his hand on my shoulder. "I know you're tired, but something else is going on right now. Do you want to go get checked out at the emergency room," Tanner suggested as he got up to help me from my seat.

As I stood up, another sharp pain shot through my belly so much I could feel the pain in my toes. I grew faint, and everything went black.
