Time seems to fly and people have started coming over to grab desserts. I smile and explain the different options if they don't know by first glance.
It didn't go without my notice when Laken came over and was speaking with Valan in hush tones. Not being my business, I make sure Kelvin is loaded with the desserts before he leaves again to the crowd.
"Do you ladies need anything to drink? I will grab anything from the bar. You have all been here several hours now with nothing but a bottle of water." Laken speaks up.
"No, thank you. The water is more than enough." I give him a kind smile.
"Same for me." Naida thanks him.
"How is things looking over there Naida?" I turn to look over.
"Going good. Several of the guests have came back to get more. They had said it was the best to nibble on." She smiles and adds more of the food to both the appetizers and main food.
I look over behind the three of us to the extras that have been on the warmers. We still have more than enough food but then again that is why we cooked like crazy to get over hundreds of individual foods.
When guests started pouring in it made me wonder if they would ever stop coming and if we didn't make enough. Now I understand why Valan had said we need large amounts.
Then again I know she is friends with the owner. Which is strange, the owner hasn't made herself be known yet and I would have thought she would have at least came over to speak with Valan. Maybe she is being polite since Valan is working but it would not have bothered me.
"Do you need any help over here Kelsie?" Valan speaks up.
"No, I am just keeping desserts up on the small plates making it easier for guest to grab them as they please. This section is easier than what you and Naida has been doing tonight."
"So any guest catching your eye tonight?" Valan smirks over at me.
"I am working Valan." I try to brush it off because my mind automatically goes to that eye candy that I helped earlier.
"So? It doesn't hurt to look or say if one of them tickled something." She whispers.
"Valan." I laugh and shake my head.
"I seen how you were with the one earlier and heard you. Never have you reacted like that before." She smirks.
"I can second that one." Naida joins in.
"What if I told you I know him personally?" Valan gets a wide smile.
"Does he work with Laken?" Naida looks over to Valan and then to me with a smirk.
I am thankful Naida asked, to where it may not make me look desperate even though I am very curious.
"What if I told you that is the owner of Scenix Clothing? He is Laken's boss and best friend, which means the friend I have said I have known since knowing Laken." Valan smiles like a chestire cat.
"That is neat Kelsie you got to interact with the owner of all of this." Naida smiles.
I can feel when I slightly pale. "You mean kind of sassed the owner, the one also paying us for this job here tonight. I am the owner of the catering company."
"I wouldn't worry about that in the least. You were just being you while still polite and I can say I know for a fact that he liked it." Valan smiles and looks off to the side, but I don't bother as she is probably watching a guest grab a plate.
"I thought it was a woman. I didn't know it was man. Wow, hold on. That is what Laken was whispering to you about wasn't it, that you can let me tell me who he is?" I whisper to Valan or try to make it low enough to pass for a whisper.
"Yup, he let Laken know I could tell you." Valan smirks.
"Wait is he like for the other team? Maybe I got some signals mixed earlier." I mumble and look at the food next to me.
It makes sense why they didn't say anything until now. I would have done the same make sure to stay on the side of not knowing to see how things are truly working with the new company I hired. You would catch people and companies for what they are and not fake as it comes. So it doesn't bother me in the least that Valan has also kept it quiet, she was just doing there wishes.
"Are you asking if he is gay?" Valan looks confused while trying not to laugh.
"Yeah, Val. That is exactly what I am wondering." I look at Val and Naida.
Valan and Naida both look to the side and smirk, before turning to the side.
"I can assure you I am not." A deep voice sounds just to the side behind me.
I jump and spin, my hip almost catching the edge of the table. The same man who I have just secretly been calling 'eye candy,' who is actually the owner stands there trying not to laugh at me.
"Oh okay." I try to take a breath that is not noticeable.
"Aiden Scenix." He smiles to me.
"Kelsie Waters." I smile kindly to him.
"It is a pleasure to meet you. I will apologize for having asked Valan not to let you know who I was prior to the event. Many times once others find out who I am they are." Aiden stalls.
"Fake." I offer.
"That is a good word for it." He nods.
"I get that. I was thinking it is because you wanted to see how we actually worked, as you were able to blend in with the guests."
"By the way, I quite like how you had that sass eariler and were still kind." Aiden smirks.
"You were listening." I gasps.
"Yes, I have been right over here since Laken told Valan she could let you know." He smirks.
"I prefer not to be spanked tonight after being on my feet working." Valan mumbles.
"What?" I voice my thoughts and glance over to her.
"Why is it everything gets quiet right when a person mumbles something?" Val tries to change the subject.
My eyes are wide as I look at my friend. Never in my life thought her and her husband was into that.
I turn and steal a glance at Aiden, who is trying not to smirk at Val. Laken came up at some point and must have heard from his smirk and the hungry look in his eyes.
That seemed like it was more than enough of an answer for me.
"Nice subject change Val." Naida laughs.
Valan laughs with her and I start letting a few small laughs slip.
