Finn's Fate

Finn POV

The headlights of the SUV are blinding as Alpha Kai drives away with Alaska. At least she is safe and happy. Alaska deserves to be happy and with someone who loves her. I hope Alpha Kai is the one for her. I know she says he is her mate, but that does not mean he isn't a dog who likes to chase women. Maybe this is new to him. I hope he continues to care for her, but what if he does not? What if he breaks her heart? Then I will be the one to pick up the pieces and make her whole again.

"Finn, let's go," Henry growls at me. I allow Henry to flex and pull me alongside him. In reality, I could kick his ass and everyone here, but I go along with them. My abilities far outweigh the way I look. I might not be as big as the rest of them, but I am angrier than them.

Henry leads me to three wolves waiting for me. "Finn meet Jake, Briggs, and Or these guys are your new best friends," Henry says. He gives me a little shove. I turn back to look at him. I eyeball him but say nothing. This gesture makes Henry laugh. I simply smile.

Jake, Briggs, and Or are all silent until Henry is out of the way. "So are you the wolf that was dipping into the Alpha's mate?" Jake asks me.

"She was mine first," I say softly. This is true; Alaska was mine first. Alpha Kai stole her from me, not the other way around. There is no reason for him to worry about me and my intentions with Alaska. I only want her to be happy. I fear that he wants to control her—Good Luck to him. Alpha Kai will never control Alaska. No one can control her.

"Well, everyone is talking about you and Alpha Kai, but no one knows the story. I mean, we thought he was a ..." Or begins but stops.

"A man whore," I finish his sentence.

"Yes, that. Alpha Kai has never had one woman. No one thinks this will last," Briggs speaks up.

"For her sake, I hope she is happy," I say.

The four of us drop into silence for a moment. "Look, we do not judge out here. We are omegas, and we welcome you to the misfit club," Briggs says.

Briggs smiles, and it makes me laugh out loud. "I am definitely a misfit," I say.

"Good, then let's get a beer, and then I will show you to your cabin," Briggs says.

Briggs leads the way. He seems to be the Omegas leader, if such a thing exists. I never talked much to Omegas, and I mean, why would I? I am the son of the Alpha and now the Omega to the Alpha that stole my future wife. Did I love her? I think I loved her more than I let on to anyone, even myself.

It takes us a short walk to a small cabin at the edge of the pack territory. We could have shifted and got here sooner, but who am to question anyone now. I am nobody, remember.

"This is my cabin," Briggs says. He opens the door, and the three of us follow him into the cabin.

I look around the cabin. It is nice and seems to be well decorated. I wonder how this Omega is able to have such a lovely house, and then I see why a lady wolf appears from the back of the house.

"This is Anna, and she is my companion," Briggs says. Anna moves toward me and hugs me before I can say no or move. She is taller than me, blonde, blue eyes and damn she is beautiful.

"I hear you have had a rough few days," Anna says softly. I look into her eyes.

"I guess you could say that," I answer her.

"Anna is an empath. She was born to a witch mother and a wolf father. We have been together since we were both very young. She can sense your pain," Briggs says.

Anna touches me on the chest close to my heart, closes her eyes, and then begins to cry. "You are in a lot of pain. Your father hurt you a lot, and Alaska brought you a lot of pain too, but it is over now. You have to let go and heal. You can heal here, and we will help you," Anna says.

“Thank you,” I whisper.

Anna smiles and returns to Briggs. Everyone is quiet for a moment, but it does not last long. We are wolves, and we do not have time for a broken heart, right? At least, that is what I have always been told. My father said there is no time to grieve or fight, just time to fight back and take what belongs to us. He is right. I must fight for Alaska, but not to take her back. I must make sure she is taken care of as she should be, no matter who I have to stand up to, my father or the Alpha.

“How about those beers?” Anna says, breaking the silence.

“I think that would be great,” I say.

Anna leaves the four of us alone but returns quickly with a bucket of beers for all of us. She opens the beers and passes them out to us, keeping one for herself. She gives me a wink and then retreats into the kitchen. “If you boys need anything, let me know,” Anna says.

We talk about the pack and how I landed here while drinking beer and playing cards over the next few hours, and things seem almost normal for these few hours. It reminds me of being with my father's pack and hanging out with the security team when I was young, sneaking beer and cigarettes, hoping I did not get caught.

“I guess we should call it a night. Jake will show you to your cabin, Finn. We start at 5 in the morning,” Briggs says.

Anna comes out to say goodbye. “It was nice to meet you, Finn. We will talk soon,” Anna says. It almost seems cryptic, like she knows something about me that I do not know.

Or, Jake and I begin the walk to a set of cabins a short distance from Briggs and Annas cabin. Or breaks away from us at the first cabin past the big oak trees with a view of the water. Jake walks me to my cabin. “You are next to me. This cabin was Arnold’s cabin, but he was moved to border security, so now he is on the other side of the lake. He kept it pretty clean, so you should be okay,” Jake says.

“Thanks,” I say. I open the door to the cabin and go inside. Jake was right. The cabin is spotless. I walk through the small cabin. It has one bedroom, a kitchen, a small bathroom, and a small den. It is more than I need now that I am alone.

I go into the bathroom and quickly shower. I wrap myself in a towel and head straight to the bedroom. It is hard to not think of Alaska. I should not think of her anymore. After all, she belongs to Alpha Kai now.

I hear someone at my door, and then it creeks open. Next, I hear tiny footsteps. “Who is there?” I call out.
