Rayna is woken up by a light being shone in her face. Once she opens her eyes, the light gets turned off, and she's met with Naomi.
"Good morning," she greets. Rayna groans and sits up.
"Morning." She rubs her eyes. "What time is it?"
"A little after eight," Naomi tells her, setting her phone down. She used the flashlight to wake Rayna up. Rayna stands up and stretches.
"What're we gonna do first?" she asks.
"Make breakfast," Naomi tells her. She nods. She ties her hair back to make it look at least somewhat tame. She was wearing a long sleeved shirt and pajama pants, which was good enough to walk around in.
The girls head into the kitchen. Of course no one's up yet, but they will once they smell the food they're making. After half an hour, they got some French toast, pancakes, and sausages laid out. Sure enough, the family start showing up to eat. Rayna manages to have a large pancake, piece of French toast, and a few sausages. Naomi eats quite a few sausages, making dirty jokes to Rayna.
Once they're finished, they head back to Naomi's room. They get dressed. Naomi puts on her favorite dress—a dark purple strapless with bits of orange in the skirt. She brushes her hair and leaves it down, then putting on minimal makeup. Rayna puts on a pair of high waisted white jeans under an off the shoulder dark grey long-sleeved shirt, showing off a thin black bra strap. She brushes her hair and leaves it down with it's waves. She gives also herself minimal makeup.
"I can't believe you're nineteen!" Naomi exclaims. "Are you excited?"
Rayna shrugs. "I guess."
"Damn, you're old."
Rayna let's out a single laugh.
"Yeah, sure."
"Do you know when you need to be back home?" Naomi asks, putting in her earrings. Rayna was never able to get her ears pierced, though she wants to.
"2 o'clock."
"Okay."
Once they're finished—Naomi with a purse and white chunky sneakers and Rayna with just her converse—they hop into Naomi's car to head to the mall. Luckily, things open pretty early there.
"Yeah, I'm definitely getting you new shoes," Naomi says, eyeing the worn out shoes on Rayna's feet. Rayna doesn't say anything.
They play quite a bit of music on the ride to the mall. Neither of them are exceptionally good singers, but they aren't terrible. Naomi is into mxmtoon and Broadway/musical songs, while Rayna likes anything with meaning and emotion, especially stuff that isn't mainstream. They both like older 70's, 80's, 90's, and 2000's music.
"Weeeee are the champioooooons!" Naomi belts out. Once again, the front two windows are down and the music is pretty loud.
"Just beat it!" Rayna yells out in the next song.
"I don't want no scrubs. A scrub is a guy who can't get no love from me," they sing together.
After about fifteen minutes, they pull up to the mall. Naomi rolls the windows up and turns the music down.
"Where do you wanna go first?" she asks, opening her door.
"I dunno," Rayna responds, stepping out of the car. They close the doors together.
"First thing's first: shoes."
*~*~*~*
By noon, Rayna is wearing a new pair of shoes with a bag over her shoulder. In the bag is a pair of black overalls, three new shirts, tights, some makeup, and a skirt.
Rayna is already exhausted, so they hop back in the car.
"Where do you wanna eat?" Naomi asks.
"Uhm . . . Wendy's?"
"Okay."
Naomi turns the car on and grabs her sunglasses. She hangs them on her dress for now and starts driving across the street through heavy traffic to the restaurant.
Once she finds a parking spot, she puts on the sunglasses and they step out of the car. Naomi holds the door open for Rayna and they get into a deep conversation about who's better: Freddy Mercury or Michael Jackson?
They wait in line until they place an order, after which Rayna goes to get their drinks. Naomi is the kind of person who mixes them between a lot of fizzy kind of drinks. Rayna just mixes a little Mountain Dew into lemonade.
Rayna gets them a table near the back. There's only two seats against a window. After a few minutes, Naomi walks over with their food. Chicken nuggets and fries for the red head and a sandwich for the brunette.
"Queen is so much better," Rayna argues. "Yeah, Michael Jackson was more consistent, but that's because his songs all had the same kind of feel. Sometimes I still get some mixed up."
"It depends on what song you're talking about for Queen. Yeah, Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You are extremely iconic, but Michael Jackson has major leverage on them when it comes to awards."
This continues as they eat, before they decide that it doesn't matter. They made songs together anyways.
"Thanks for doing all this for me," Rayna says.
"You're welcome. You're like my sister, and it's your birthday! If your pathetic excuse for a family won't treat you, I will."
"That means a lot to me, Mimi."
"I know, Rainy."
They share a nice hug and finish the rest of their food.
After lunch, they spent a while just walking around again. Looking but not really buying. Though, Naomi does treat herself to a Michael Jackson shirt she found.
As they head back in the car and drive home, neither of them are paying attention to the time.
She had already tried on the clothes at the store, so she puts on the one Naomi bought for her to meet the Alpha King. A black skirt over a pair of tights with a long sleeved white and blue flannel shirt. The shoes she got were a new pair of converse, this time a nice light grey.
Naomi does her hair and makeup. She gives her black and blue eyeshadow with blush lips and clips one side of her hair back.
"There. Beautiful, like always," Naomi says. Rayna giggles, before she suddenly visibly pales.
"What time is it?" she asks.
Naomi also pales. She fumbles while grabbing her phone.
"Shit, it's already 2:17."
"Shit, shit, shit," Rayna curses, hurriedly getting her stuff together.
"I- It's okay. Let's just make sure the new stuff is hidden. Like I said you can get help from the King, right? Everything's be okay," Naomi says, holding Rayna. "Take some deep breaths."
They're out the door five minutes later, once they got all of her stuff safely packed away. She doesn't care about what she's wearing. She's honestly not sure what they were even thinking.
It's a ten minute drive back to the Pack House, but Naomi gets it down to seven minutes. They quickly say goodbyes, and Rayna makes the choice to get home through the woods. She doesn't think to mask her scent.
She slows down once she gets closer to the Pack House. She jumps when she hears a croak from above her. She looks up to see Ray.
"Not right now, dude. I'm in some deep shit," she tells him in a whisper.
He croaks again and tilts his head, almost as if asking, "What's up?"
"I'm late. I'm literally gonna die."
He flies away, making her roll her eyes and continue on. When the Pack House comes into view, she can see how angry Johnathan is, but it's too late to do anything now.
Somehow, just somehow, she makes it into the Beta House. No one's inside now—everyone's getting ready and waiting outside. She instantly goes into her room and locks the door. She shoves her backpack in her closet and hides between her bed and the window.
When her heart stops racing, she looks out the window, which just so happened to have a great view of what's happening out front. She makes sure to keep herself hidden. Looking at the clock next to her bed, the King is due to arrive in twenty minutes, but everyone knows that he's notorious for showing up early to these kinds of things. Most packs prepare an entire day early just to be safe.
Sadly, her pack is still making last minute preparations when three vehicles pull up. The first is a silver truck, the second a black SUV, and the third a white Jeep. Everyone freezes when a male steps out of each.
Rayna can't see them well from where she is, but the first two are about fair skinned while the third has mixed/dark skin. The third has the darkest hair and the second with the lightest. The first male, obviously the King, wore a white shirt with dark pants. The second, whom she assumes is the Beta, is wearing a sweatshirt. The third, presumably the Delta, is wearing a tank top.
Her window isn't open, but she's pretty sure Alpha Daniel greets them before the king looks around. Oddly, he starts walking into the brush. Rayna starts to shake. Shit, shit, shit, she forgot to mask her scent.
She checks the window once more to see the king approaching the Beta House. Alpha Daniel and Johnathan stand at the side, dumbfounded. Every mateless female in the pack over eighteen and under thirty were waiting, and they looked offended in their skanky clothing.
Rayna ducks down again and leans her back against her bed when she hears the front door open.
"Who's in here?" an unknown, deep male voice calls out.
"K- King, there's no one here," she hears Daniel stutter. A growl vibrates through the floor.
"Bull. I can smell her," the first voice, the Alpha King, responds.
Footsteps approach Raynas door, and her heart stops when she hears the knob being twisted. She had locked it.
She can't help but let out a scream when she hears a loud crash and a thump. Heavy footsteps walk around her bed until they're standing right next to her. Shaking, she turns her head to the side.
She sees a pair of large black combat boots. Above those are a pair of black jeans. Next, a white t-shirt hugging toned muscles. Fair skinned, defined arms were crossed over a stomach. One arm was covered in tattoos. Up the neck was a slight stubble, nude lips, piercing hazel eyes, and clean, undercut light brown hair.
It's the Alpha King.
