Little Cabin

Luna Kayla POV

I can see pain and anger rising inside Alpha Maximus. He is furious with Alpha Marcus as he scans my memories. I try to stop all the memories as they flood my mind, but I cannot stop them.

"Show Kayla her new home. I will be there soon," Alpha Maximus says to Amy. He is still holding my waist tightly. I kiss his lips and lay my head on his chest just for a moment to offer him comfort. He is in a lot of pain.

"Is it alright if Georgia comes with me too?" I ask as Alpha Maximus lets go of me.

"Yes, take the three she wolves. They can show you around. I have some things to take care of, but I promise to be home soon," Alpha Maximus says.

"Okay, but do not leave me alone my first night here. We need to talk before you take off after your brother, please, Alpha," I say. Alpha Maximus nods and turns away from me.

The three she wolves gather around me as we leave the pack house. "We can walk. It is a nice walk to the Alpha's house," Jay Jay says.

The door opens behind us, and a male wolf comes up to Amy. "The Alpha wants me to keep an eye on the four of you," he says. He looks happy to go with Amy.

"This is Beta Rocky," Amy says to me. I look at his hand, and there is no wedding ring. I notice he is really close to Amy. They are both smiling and acting in a way that lets me know they are more than friends. Hmmm, something is going on there. Good for Amy.

"Sure, I promise not to be any trouble," I say.

Jay Jay, PJ, Georgia, and I walk in front of Amy and Rocky. I do not look back, but PJ does occasionally. "There are such a cute couple," PJ says.

I look back to see them closer than before, and when Amy sees me watching her, she moves away from Beta Rocky. "Is there some reason the two of them cannot be together? Am I missing something?" I ask.

It gets quiet between the three of us for a moment. "Beta Rocky needs Alpha Maximus's permission to see Amy because she was the former Alpha's niece," Georgia says.

"Okay then, why doesn't he just ask him?" I ask.

"Because Alpha Maximus is very protective of Amy. Her parents were killed. He has kept an eye on her most of her life," Georgia says.

We continue our walk to my new home. We finally make it to the small cabin. "I love it," I say.

"Wait until you see the inside. Amy keeps it clean and well-stocked, but you can do that or let her continue. That is up to you," PJ says.

I step onto the porch and open the door to my new home. I am excited and nervous. The she wolves follow me into the small cabin. The house is cute, well-decorated, and immaculate. Not the norm for a bachelor wolf, especially not a bachelor Alpha, but there is nothing ordinary about Alpha Maximus and his kindness.

Beta Rocky stays on the porch to keep watch. Amy comes into the house to show me around. "I changed the sheets on the bed and did all the laundry while Alpha Maximus was south helping you. By the way, where are your things?" Amy asks me.

"I don't have anything. I will need clothes and everything," I say, taking a deep breath. Everything I had is gone except the few things that Char made me.

"I have some clothes your size. We can chip in together and give you some of our things for now," PJ says.

I hug PJ. The other she wolves join us in a group hug. "Thank you so much for helping me," I say. I begin to cry, happy tears.

"We are just happy you are here with us," Amy says.

I will help Amy and Beta Rocky by speaking with Alpha Maximus. Not today, but soon, when things die down a little bit. "I am happy to be here with you all. I hope you will help me plan my wedding," I say.

"Oh my gosh, when? How soon?" Georgia is going crazy, jumping up and down.

"Soon, we want to be married as soon as possible," I say. This time I will marry forever to my mate, not someone I am forced to marry or someone to protect my pack, but a man who loves me and wants to be with me and only me.

There is a loud noise on the front porch. "Beta Rocky!" Amy calls out to him. She runs to the front door and opens it. Beta Rocky is lying on the porch, not moving. Amy rushes out the door to pull him into the house.

I look across the path and see Alpha Marcus. What the hell does he want? He took the pack land, and he killed the wolves. What else could he want?

SHIFT AND RUN! I hear Alpha Maximus in my mind link. "We have to shift and run!" I tell them.

Amy is pulling Beta Rocky into the house. "Go, Luna Kayla. I will not leave Rocky. I love him," she cries.

"I am not leaving you or him," I say. The four of us pick up Beta Rocky and carry him to the back of the house. Amy stays with him in the spare bedroom.

"We have to fight," I say.

"I am ready," Georgia says.

"Me too," PJ says.

"And Me," Jay Jay says.

I am coming, Kayla. Don't do anything to get yourself killed! I hear Alpha Maximus in my mind link.

"Alpha Maximus is almost here," I say.

The door opens, and it is Alpha Marcus. "I tried to warn you Luna Kayla. Getting involved with my brother would get you killed, but you are a dumb bitch just like that little whore Nancy," Alpha Marcus says.

"You killed here, didn't you, not Alpha Maximus?" I ask him.

Alpha Marcus moves closer to me. He is here to kill me. "No, sweetie. It was Soran, but I did push him to it. I guess it was my fault," Alpha Marcus says.

Alpha Marcus keeps moving closer until he is at the kitchen entrance. There is nowhere really for us to go, except the back bedroom and then what.

"Why do you want to kill me? Why did you kill your family, my family, the pack?" I ask him. At this point, no matter what he says, I do not want to hear, but I am stalling to give Alpha Maximus time to get to me.

"Because Kayla, you were supposed to be mine first, but your father said no, that you were too young, but then promised you to my brother. I decided the best way to make you pay was to give you to Alpha Ranon and take the pack land, but then here comes my brother, the murderer, to save the day, and you just had to be his damn mate! You little bitch!"

Alpha Marcus is furious. He comes running toward me and shifts into his wolf. "How did it feel when Alpha Ranon raped you? I heard you scream for Soran," Alpha Marcus taunts me.

I grab a kitchen knife and stab him as hard as I can in his face. Alpha Marcus growls and bites me. "SHIFT, KAYLA!" Alpha Maximus growls.

The bite is painful. I try to shift, but Alpha Marcus bites me again. Alpha Maximus bites Alpha Marcus and pulls him off me. Alpha Maximus is shaking Marcus. I am screaming from the pain in my arm. Georgia helps me to the back of the house.

PJ, Georgia, Jay Jay, and I hide in the spare room across from Amy and Beta Rocky. We can hear the fighting, growling, and yelping. Please let my Alpha come out alive. I am hurt, and I cannot help him.

I hear more wolves howling and coming into the cabin. "I am scared," I say.

"Us too," PJ says. We are huddled together when the house goes silent. We are breathing heavily and terrified when the door creeks and opens to the bedroom door.

"Kayla," Alpha Maximus says.

I get up and rush to him. He is in his human form and hurt. He falls onto a bed in the room. "Marcus is dead," He says softly.

"Rest and heal, my love," I say. I lay beside him.

"I will get the pack doctor for him and Beta Rocky," Georgia says and rushes out the door for help.

One of the Beta wolves comes to the door. "Stay in here until we clear out the bodies," he says.

"Okay," I say. I lay my head on Maximus and hold him. I will not leave him or let go. I kiss him as I begin to cry. I do not want to lose you, Max. Please be okay.
