Luna Kayla POV

Three weeks after the attack by Alpha Marcus, everyone seems to be back to normal. Alpha Maximus continues to dote on me and make me sweet promises. I think it is time for me to fulfill my promise. I have to tell him everything starting with what happened at the pack house of pain.

Amy helps me prepare dinner for Alpha Maximus and myself for the night. She knows all his favorite things and is happy to help me make this night special. I am not that great of a cook, and I want tonight to be perfect. I have a lot to do before tonight.

"Where is Beta Rocky while you are helping me?" I ask Amy.

Amy looks really nervous. "Well, he is asking Alpha Maximus if he can marry me. I am so nervous I cannot think," Amy says. She drops the lid to the pan on the floor and starts crying.

I rush over to help. "It is fine. Alpha Maximus already said you could get married. Alpha Maximus wants you to be happy," I reassure her.

Amy is distraught. "I know, but things are a little more complicated now, and if he says no, I will be a single mother," Amy cries.

Amy sits down on the floor, crying and holding the lid to the pan. I sit down beside her and take the pan. I toss it into the sink to wash. "You're pregnant. That is great," I say, smiling and hugging her.

Amy shakes her head. "What if Alpha Maximus has changed his mind? I mean, it's been three weeks since he told me okay. Beta Rocky wants to do things right. He loves this pack and me. He does not want to disappoint anyone, especially not Alpha Maximus, not after everything Alpha did for Rocky," Amy says.

I lean back against the kitchen cabinet. "Alpha Maximus helped Beta Rocky, too, didn't he?" I ask. I already know the answer.

"Yes, his family was murdered. I told you we are all the unwanted here, just like Alpha. His family never wanted him, but that is for him to tell you. He gave us all hope. We all want to please him. I hope my getting pregnant doesn't upset him," Amy says.

I take Amy's hand and hold it for a moment. "You know this is wonderful news. I think he will be very happy for both of you. I can help plan your wedding and baby shower," I say, trying to change the conversation to joy instead of sadness.

Amy and I begin to laugh and talk about a wedding. "What about your wedding? Any idea when?" Amy asks me.

"Soon," I answer. The same thing I keep telling Alpha Maximus. We sleep in separate beds, and I change the subject of marriage when he brings it up, but it is time I say yes and set a date. I plan to do that tonight. I plan to make everything right tonight.

"How soon?" I look to see Alpha Maximus with Beta Rocky standing at the kitchen door.

"Soon," I repeat. Alpha Maximus lets out a low growl. I am sure I frustrate this man, but he follows the growl with a sweet smile. So I know he is not angry with me.

"Alpha Maximus," Amy quickly stands. She looks at the stove boiling over and starts trying to clean up.

"Leave it. I got this," I say.

"Come with me," Alpha Maximus says to her. I clean the mess up in the kitchen and turn everything down on low so that I can join the conversation.

I walk into the living room, and everyone looks so serious. "We were waiting for you," Alpha Maximus says.

I sit down next to Alpha Maximus. Beta Rocky and Amy look terrified. It is not terror, and it is more the want to please and respect their Alpha. The two of them are so afraid of Alpha Maximus being disappointed.

"Beta Rocky tells me that the two of you want to get married soon because you are expecting. I cannot allow that. If you want to marry because you love one another, that is fine. Please be happy, but if you are only getting married because you are pregnant, then the answer is no," Alpha Maximus says.

His face is dead serious. I see it. I see his mother. His thoughts are on her. She married because she was pregnant, and that is why she hated him. Alpha Maximus does not want the same for Amy.

Amy and Beta Rocky look at one another. She smiles at him with the sweetest smile. "I love him more than I love myself, and I hope he feels the same," Amy says.

Beta Rocky takes Amy's hand. "I do. I wanted to marry you before we found out you were pregnant. This is just a bonus," Beta Rocky says.

The two of them look so happy and in love. I wonder what it will feel like to become pregnant by the man I love. First, I have to have sex with him. My thoughts run crazy with Alpha Maximus touching me and kissing me.

Alpha Maximus leans over and kisses my cheek. "Soon," he says. He gives me my answer for everything.

"Then it is decided. Welcome to the family, Beta Rocky," Alpha Maximus says.

"There is one more thing," I say.

"What is that?" Amy asks.

"I think I burned the food," I say, looking at the smoke coming from the kitchen.

"I got it," Amy says. Amy and Beta Rocky rush into the kitchen to clean up the mess.

"I am not a good cook or housekeeper," I say. I lean my head over on Alpha Maximus.

Alpha Maximus laughs. "Neither am I. Maybe we could all go out to dinner. You have not been into town. There is a great place I can take you. We can celebrate Amy and Beta Rocky getting engaged," Alpha Maximus says.

"That would be nice," I say.

I go into the kitchen and help Amy and Beta Rocky. I watch Alpha Maximus enter the front bedroom while the three of us clean up the mess. "I am sorry. I should've been watching the food," I say.

"It is fine," Amy says.

Amy and Beta Rocky are both looking behind me. I turn to see Alpha Maximus. "You were right. There is one more thing, Kayla. Will you be my wife?" he asks me as he goes to one knee and opens a small ring box.

My heart is racing as I drop the dish towel I am holding and walk over to Alpha Maximus. All of his kindness flashes through my mind: every kind word and gesture dances around in my heart.

"Yes," I answer him.

Alpha Maximus slides the small heart-shaped diamond onto my finger. My heart is so full. He stands and takes me into his arms. His embrace heals every broken piece inside me. I love this wolf.
