Luna Kate
Luna Kate POV
I leave Luna Alanis behind, taking Belle and going home. Neither one of us want to leave her, but we need help to fight the dark enemy. Alanis can defeat him herself with the help of Belle, but we need the dark one occupied, and we have to ensure Alpha Sebastian's safety.
Belle and I get into our truck, and I take one last look at the house. I can feel her pain. As much as her pain hurts me, I can only imagine the way Belle feels right now. This ordeal with Alanis must be excruciating for her. The way Belle feels what is going on with other wolves is sometimes a burden for her and terrifying for me.
I drive away slowly, but when we get out of sight, I kick it into high gear and roll out of the wolf territory heading home as fast as possible. We make it to the interstate within the hour. Luna Alanis and Alpha Sebastian's pack is further away from the world than our pack. That is one reason we have to act fast. No one will know that Alanis is captive for a long time unless we help her.
Belle reaches over and takes my hand. I look down at her sweet face. "We will save her, Belle," I say to her.
Belle is distraught. "We have to save her and the little boy. He is my destiny," Belle says. What the hell does she mean by that. Her destiny, will they be friends? She cannot know who her mate is already, or does she? I cannot process all of this right now.
I grab my cell phone from the seat between Belle and me. I scroll down to Erick's number and hit call. It rings for only a moment, but it feels like forever.
"How is she?" Alpha Erick asks.
I can feel a lump in my throat, and I want to scream out how much all of this hurts me. Not just that Luna Alanis is in trouble, but that this could happen to our daughter. "The darkness has Alpha Sebastian, and we need an army. I left with Belle. I told the darkness that I was going home, but I am not. I am going to stop and get a hotel. Belle and I will wait for you. Bring an army of warriors. Belle can help Luna Alanis and Alpha Sebastian, but she needs strong men to hold the dark one down while she works on him. Luna Alanis and Belle can take the darkness out completely, but we need warriors," I say all in one breath and trying not to cry. I realize that I am crying and that I am having a panic attack. I take another deep breath. Just breathe, breathe, air in air out, calm down, Kate, I keep trying to bring myself down, but nothing is working. Why am I freaking out so badly?
"Where are you now?" Alpha Erick asks me.
"We are almost to Shiloah Town," I answer him.
"Stop in the next town and get a hotel. I will gather everyone and be there by nightfall. Get something off the highway, not too close but not too far away. I do not want you seen, but I do not want you in danger either," Alpha Erick says.
"I love you," I say.
"I love you too," Alpha Erick responds. I end the call and lay my cell phone down between Belle and me. She is not upset. I thought she would be going out of her mind, but she is calm.
"Everything will be fine; the darkness will fall," Belle says. It is cryptic and odd. The voice almost seems not to be hers. She looks at me, and her eyes flash a dark green at me.
I try to ignore what is going on with my child, but it is hard. Something or some wolf is communicating with her. Hopefully, it is someone that wants to help and not cause us harm. Oh, Belle, I never wanted this life for you. There are no guarantees in our life. It is always something. All I want is peace for Belle and her future. Maybe she and the child Alanis carries can bring the Elite Wolf Breed peace. My Belle can do anything and be anything that I know for sure. I do hate that imposed on her all of this crazy. No, I don't believe that it is my fault. It is my mother's fault.
We cross over into the next town after Shiloh Town. I pull off the interstate and go to a hotel toward the end of the road. It is back off the road but still close enough; if anything went wrong or someone came looking for us, we could get help. I do not want to raise a lot of suspicions when a lot of warriors roll into this little town, either. I do not need anyone letting the dark one know that Alpha Erick is planning to attack him and heading that way. We have to be sneaky and stealthy in our movements right now.
Belle and I get out of the truck and go into the hotel to get a room. For some reason, I feel odd, and she looks strange. "Are you okay?" I ask her.
"No, I am not. I need to rest. I have work to do soon," she says. Belle passes out as soon as the words escape her mouth. I grab her before she can hit the ground.
I carry her into the hotel lobby and get a room for us. "She is exhausted, long trip," I tell the clerk as she hands me the room key.
I take Belle to the elevator, and we go up to the second floor. I carry her to the room, unlock the door and carry her in; once inside, I lay her on the bed. She is completely out of it. I lay down beside her while she sleeps. I text Alpha Erick to let him know where we are, and then I hesitate to tell him about Belle.
"Erick," I say softly after I tell him where we are.
"What is wrong?" he asks.
I look down at Belle. "It is Belle. How quickly can you get here?" I ask him.
"Faster than you think," he says. Alpha Erick hangs up the phone. I cuddle my daughter.
