Suddenly there was absolute dead silence...

Silence, in which a few tears gathered in my otherwise cold eyes, while my gaze held Yasha captive, but she only had eyes for keno.

Of course he was still right in front of me. I felt his hands on my cheeks, his breath on my skin and yet somehow I don't feel anything anymore. Only turmoil and shame.

I cursed the moon goddess for this nakedness that she imposed on me here in the middle of the dark forest and when my glance fell to Juniper, I saw that the blonde was just as shocked about this situation as I was.

That moment burned deep inside me and I knew it. Knew that alphas very rarely had multiple partners, all of whom were also their mates. Why was that? Presumably the moon goddess acted this way since we were dying out...

A desperate smile crossed my lips as I ventured a glimpse into the future and saw Keno jumping among many puppies that were not just mine, but the redhead's as well.

But could I forbid him happiness with her? Could he even be happy without her? Was the connection as strong as ours?

All these questions flew through my mind every second, and when Yasha suddenly slowly walked towards us, I clawed my fingers into Keno's hands that were resting on my cheeks and knocked them aside with a jerk.

"I'm going!" I hissed, completely overwhelmed, and was about to disappear behind me into the forest, but Keno grabbed my arm.

"Aria, warte do-"

I pulled out without thinking, smacked him in tears and actually knew that he couldn't help it at all. But I was just so angry, feeling desperate and just confused, so unfortunately I had to take my anger out on him.

My hand slapped his cheek when I heard Juniper gasp next to me and felt Yasha yank me to the ground.

"How dare you!" she gritted her teeth and yelled at me, sitting halfway across my hips to pin my hands into the forest floor above my head.

"Get off me now!" I yelled, my voice filled with anger and sadness in equal measure, and I tried desperately to free myself, but she seemed to be on the verge of a transformation and was therefore hardly able to speak to her.

"Keno!" I wanted to force his help, but when I looked up at him past her shoulder, he seemed caught in a trance.

Excellent! Was he ever good for anything?!

I jerked my hands up with full force and at the same time slammed my forehead against hers with full force, so that she groaned in pain and rolled off to the side of me.

"You bitch!" I swore, getting up in a hurry to continue staring at her while automatically stepping in front of Keno.

"Don't you understand that he's not yours alone!" she threw her absurd way of thinking at me and sat on the floor holding her forehead until I took a deep breath and wanted to freak out again, but Keno twisted me at the waist turned around and finally seemed to have regained his senses.

"Aria, please calm down," he breathed sympathetically, stroking my cheek very gently, which really stopped me shaking, but it still wasn't any consolation regarding my crappy future.

He gently wiped away my tears and smiled at me as if it were just the two of us. As if she didn't exist... As if there was nothing but me in his life.

"You don't have to worry. You're my little one," he whispered against my lips and, captivated by his dark eyes, I sighed in relief and turned triumphantly to Yasha, who was slowly getting up off the floor and covering hers Jeans patted clean.

"We should all calm down," Juniper said, stepping next to her sister. "After all, we have bigger problems. We shouldn't forget that your mate just transformed. Who knows if the vampires aren't already watching us!"

"Nobody saw or smelled me. My alpha senses are stronger than those of a vampire. I would have smelled him before he even considered my presence."

"Good," Juniper said in relief, wanting to turn to her sister, but she was busy clenching her fists and staring at me with her bright green eyes while I did the same to her.

"Keno?", she addressed the one standing behind me with a provocative grin, but I immediately got back up and ran towards her.

"No!" I warned her one last time, pointing to her neck. "You don't talk to him! You don't look at him and certainly don't go near him! I'll wring your neck-"

"Oh yeah!?", she hissed and we wanted to attack each other again, but Keno pulled me back by the hips and Yasha was also pulled back by her sister's arm.

"It's enough now!", Keno growled menacingly and only from the power and dominance of his voice, I froze and kept my mouth shut for the time being.

The two sisters only looked at Keno apologetically and then turned back to the unlit campfire, where they sat down on the ground and began to whisper.

"Let's go," I breathed softly but firmly, turning in the same breath to Keno, who looked at me questioningly. "I'm not staying the night with this horny bitch! I even dare her to rape you the way she is!"

"Oh come on, don't you trust me?" he asked seriously and immediately I shook my head violently.

"You do! But not your wolf and we both know how strong and unruly he is! One moment of inattention and you're going to break my heart, Keno! I can't live with this constant fear and I don't want to either! What would you do if Jamal was my mate too?"

He didn't say anything and just wanted to look past me to the two of them, but I grabbed his chin in a flash and forced him to only look at me.

"Dare you," I growled, apparently arousing him that I was being so possessive. Without warning, he turned me around by my waist so that I was standing with my back against a tree and could face the nurses as he lifted me onto his hips and wedged himself between my legs.

"You have no idea how horny your way makes me!"

I listened to his words, felt his hard excitement press against my middle and moaned softly, driven by lust. At that moment I didn't give a shit if Yasha was glaring at me. Or no, I didn't care. I even took advantage of letting her see it.

Without taking my eyes off of her, I wrapped my arms around Keno's shoulders and pulled him even closer to me, enjoying the fact that he moaned at my closeness. Of course we were animals and I wouldn't have been surprised if Keno really claimed me before her, but I just wanted to provoke her...

His hands cupped my butt, his lips caressed my neck, and while I savored his reaction to me, I bit my lip and watched Yasha, who looked about to burst.
