Exhausted from all the shopping madness, I threw my backpack on the brown carpet of my room and then collapsed into my soft bed.
Somehow I felt tired, as if drained, which made my eyelids heavier and heavier and after a short time it was exhausting for me to be able to hold them open at all.
I lay there dozing. A state between reality and dream, in which my thoughts kept wandering to this mate ball. My father had often told me about these kinds of events, but I never really cared until that one day when I was about to have to attend one, which really got on my nerves.
But we were confronted by our alpha early enough that we had to show up there at least once after we had come of age. At least I had it behind me then!
These stupid celebrations basically only served the other packs and especially their alphas to find their mate anyway, if they weren't represented in their own pack. But it wasn't often that you really found each other at such events. Most never found their mate, as did my father, who found the love of his life in my mother.
He met her at a gas station on one of his many fishing trips. He always described it to me as love at first sight, which you would immediately feel in your whole body.
She didn't know that he was a werewolf and when she got pregnant, the happiness of the two seemed perfect. My father even wanted to leave the pack for her and buy a house with her far away from our city. But unfortunately it turned out differently...
Little did he know that she would die giving birth to me, and on that fateful day, a part of him died too.
All his dreams and goals had died with my mother. All he had was me and he always tried his best to make me happy, even when he was broken inside, which only showed more how much he loved me.
There was no other woman after my mother and he didn't want that in the future either.
A forever bachelor.

"Get up, little one. I cooked dinner."
My father's voice was quiet, but I still found it extremely annoying and annoyed by it, I pulled my blanket over my head.
"Five more minutes," I mumbled into my warm pillow, hoping he would leave quickly and just leave me lying there. I was just totally exhausted.
Luckily for me, he was a very understanding father, who lovingly whispered "good night" to me and then disappeared from my room, which put me right back to sleep.
As I was slowly awakened by the harsh sunlight pouring into my room, I still felt tired and listless. I pushed my covers aside with difficulty, then stood up awkwardly and staggered towards the bathroom, yawning, to freshen up when I got there and really wake up.
Our old shower always took a few minutes to get the water really warm, so I always turned on the faucet first, then turned my attention to the mirror while I waited to brush my teeth and wake up the tired ones to sleep to rub eyes.
