I carefully took a few steps back and still noticed his confused face staring at me before I surrendered to my transformation and ran towards home as fast as I could. A bitter howl escaped deep in my throat, sure everyone around me could hear my deep pain.
The way, which actually only lasted a few minutes, suddenly seemed endless to me and when I finally arrived at my house, I quickly transformed myself back and climbed naked and panicked through my room window, which I always opened a crack let. Luckily!
I frantically searched for something to wear when I got inside and grabbed my short white pajama bottoms and a black t-shirt. I had trouble getting dressed because my whole body was shaking, but I managed it anyway and ran to the bathroom, only to puke violently from the shock.
When a hand suddenly laid on my back, I turned around in shock and saw my father, overwhelmed and wide-eyed, holding his hands up as if someone was threatening him with a gun.
"I didn't mean to scare you. What happened?" The concern in his voice was so great and heartbreaking that I immediately had to start crying bitterly again.
"Dad... It... It's... -" I sobbed, trying to find the right words, but I cried so uncontrollably that not a single word came out of my mouth.
"Please talk to me, little one," he stammered, as if holding back tears, carefully sitting down next to me on the cold tiles to wrap his arm thoughtfully around my trembling shoulder.
Exhausted and at the end of my rope, I let my head fall to his side and, crying, held onto his strong shoulder, prompting him to stroke my arm soothingly.
"Breathe deeply in and out. No matter what happened, tomorrow the world will look better again." He brushed my hair out of my face with an encouraging smile and then gave me a thoughtful look.
When I had calmed down after a while and my dad got up carefully to help me up, there was suddenly a loud knock on the front door, which made me look up at my father in shock. I jumped up and shook my head wildly.
"You can't open the door, please!" I begged him, my heart pounding painfully against my chest and my stomach churning uncomfortably with excitement.
"What's the matter, Alicia? Did you have a fight with Melina? Is that her at the door?" he asked, overwhelmed, and then put his hand on the doorknob of the small bathroom, but I couldn't get another word out. After all, how was I supposed to explain to him that my mate would pick me up now and take me away from him, maybe forever?
When he didn't get an answer from me, he pushed the door open and disappeared around the corner into the hallway. I just prayed that he would come back, but he didn't, so I slammed the door, locked it frantically and sat in the corner of the shower stall before pulling the shower curtain closed.
As a small child, I had wishful thinking that no one would find me here, but I was no longer a child and this was the bitter reality. Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself to at least listen to what was going on in the living room.
KILLIAN
I watched this extraordinary beauty run into the forest in front of me and howl into the darkness.
She was just perfect and now she would be mine forever. She could try to run away. I would give her a full week head start and yet, I would always find her. Her intoxicating smell was deeply burned into me and her eyes fascinated me and held me captive from the first second.
brown and blue. As unique as she was.
"What do we do now?" my Beta Damiano asked me, who seemed visibly annoyed about everything. Once again he hadn't found a mate, but I didn't really care at the moment. I just wanted to be with my girl and have her close to me.
"You follow the trail and call me as soon as you find it. I'll follow with the car," I ordered Damiano and Brando, who then immediately started running. Well, they didn't have a choice either. I was their alpha, their boss and not to be trifled with. The two guys who could only hobble home could attest to that, thanks to Damiano. If it was up to me, they would never have walked a step again.
Impatiently I climbed into the black off-road vehicle and started the loud engine. Luckily, it didn't take long before my cell phone blinked and I had her address on my display. I hit the gas with a grin on my face and couldn't wait to see her again.
When I arrived at the address a few minutes later and got out, it was dead quiet in the house. The lights were on, but no one could be seen through the windows. I knocked softly at first, but no one opened up for me, so I knocked a little harder again and finally heard quick footsteps coming towards me.
The door creaked open softly and a middle-aged man stood directly in front of me. He was a bit shorter than me and had a rather worried expression on his face. I avoided his gaze to look past him, but she couldn't be seen behind him. Only her smell penetrated my nostrils and made me want to walk past him, but he held me back on the sleeve of my jacket for a deep breath.
"Wait a minute, calm down. I want to know right away who you are and what the hell is going on here!"
He tried to stifle a growl, I could see that. But fear also shimmered in his brown eyes. Damiano immediately reacted aggressively when he saw the man simply holding me back and then took a step towards us.
"You probably don't know that an alpha is standing in front of you! You don't have to ask him any questions, and you certainly don't put your hands on him!", the big one growled menacingly.
The man abruptly took his hand away and now I suddenly recognized the pure desperation in his eyes.
"Sorry, Alpha. Of course I'm not denying you access. I would still be interested to know the reason for your visit."
His lips were trembling and I knew it was taking a lot of courage for him to ask me questions again. He had to be her father. No man would otherwise behave like that towards an alpha. Without taking my gaze from his, I caught a glimpse of Damiano taking a step forward towards the man, but before he could take a second I growled menacingly and he immediately took his old position next to Brando.
"My name is Killian and I'm looking for my girl! She must live here, you can't miss her scent," I told him succinctly and watched his reaction to it.
He turned deathly pale at my words and clutched his chest, taking a deep breath. Apparently he was having trouble breathing and that's why he leaned on the kitchen table next to him, which was right behind him between the front door and the kitchen. I did feel a little sorry for him, but Mate is Mate and nobody had the right to stand between us anymore, not even him, because now she was all mine.
