Chapter 50
Xantara-
Among all the crazy stuff I've done, waking up in a castle built in a tree tops the list. Walking out onto the balcony after waking up, I was stunned at the beauty that surrounded me. Turning back, I left the bedroom. It was just me in here. I ventured through the house, finding Clair sleeping soundly.
For the size of the place everyone seems to be missing. I was getting scared for my mate; I know he was so sick. I think the bond is affecting me. I feel some of the pain he is feeling, I also feel frantic I may lose him, yet we have spent little or no time together. I figured someone had to be in the kitchen here, so that was where I was heading.
Elves are vegetarians, nature, and the creatures in it are sacred to the Elves. I am not sure what the elves in the kitchen were cooking, but it smelt great. I didn’t see anyone of authority in the kitchen, so I walked in unafraid of any danger. This was all serene and friendly.
I grab an apple biting into the most amazing fruit I had ever tasted. The juice dripping from the core of the apple. One of the Elven men turns and smile, he winks. I think what a flirt. I watch him walk my way, he twirls in a spectacular way and kneels just like in a spectacular dance.
He takes my hand while on his knees, peppering my hand with kisses. I grab by hand back, it felt wrong. One of the female elves grabbed him slapping him on the back of the head.
Stuttering out of the shock from the show this young elf had performed for me. I ask, "Do you know where my injured friend is? "One of the Elven girls took me by my hand and asked me to follow her, we left the wooden castle down beautifully carved wooden steps.
The young girl guiding me to the infirmary was actually a few hundred years old, and she only looked like she was 16 years old. I found out her name is Misty, and that each Elf has a calling that they find in their teens. It comes to them when they go on their own personal quest.
"Misty, why did the elves feel the need to put us to sleep?”
“We like to stay hidden from the world. Makes it harder for some power-hungry tyrant to take over. What is sad is so many crave our powers, but do not want our powers to do good, but to create great harm in the world. Thus, we stay hidden from the world, we would rather be myths in Children’s fairy tales.”
“What how is my mate doing? Is my mate OK? "
The Elven girl replies, “you’re Mate carries a fever we believe he will be fine, but he needs to drop the fever first, we have given him a medicinal herbs and that seems to bring down the fever but he still has not awaken yet.”
" Do you know if there's anything I can do to help?"
" You are his mate, being his mate, you bring him strength just lay next to him and hold his hand and that should help a lot. I'm still want to let you know that right now we can only transport one of you back. We have chosen the future queen as a future king is practically having a nervous breakdown trying to find her.
So the moon goddess names does it send her back when she is still sleeping and for you to wait and make certain your meat is OK and out of harm's way to the fever. Then we will get you to back home. the thing is you have all been gone a month. Your fellow wolves have been looking for you frantically. You are about 500 miles away from the were kingdom is not a short distance. But we will wait until your mate is better, he will need you by his side."
I can't believe we have been gone for so long. What happened to our tormentors?
"They escaped, but they are pretty well protected on the Red Dragons' land."
Answering the elf, I ask, “How can a big old dragon without sight be a threat to anyone’s safety?”
"It's not the Red Dragon that we fear. The villain is the brother of the King of the Green Dragons. His goal is to make the old Red Dragon believe that he is his son. Red Dragon King could not see well, he also couldn't see color, which made him easily fooled. So, the Green Dragon King's evil brother rules the Red Dragon Kingdom. He wants to rule all magical creatures no matter what the cost is.”
A shiver went through my body at the thought of a war with dragons. They are a powerful creature that until recently I didn’t believe existed but in fairy tales.
We walk up some wooden steps into a tree that had a medical facility. I see several Elven Doctors looking concerned. I walked up and touched Colt’s arm, the shocks ran through my skin like a warm blanket of love, but what also happened was that I could feel his skin is on fire.
The doctors shooed me outside to sit at one of many tables on the balcony. I looked over at Misty, “What is going on in there? Colt is burning up! Is he going to be alright?”
Misty reached over and put both her hands on mine. “He is very sick, there is so much Wolf’s bane in his blood. I don’t know if he will make it, we are trying.”
I was so worried; I don’t know why he took on the poison for me. He saved my life to put his own at risk. I put my head in my hands as my hair fell forward.
Suddenly in the background back in the clinic, I hear all kinds of commotion, they were yelling to get life paddles to bring him back. I was in shock.
