Chapter 71

Zach –

"Melissa, I came to meet you for breakfast. What do you want?"

Melissa –

"You should call me your highness Zach. I am the rogue king's daughter and when my dad takes over this kingdom, I am the princess of all wolves."

Zach –

"I will never, ever call you princess Melissa. The only reason you and I ever talk is that you have my baby sister."

Melissa –

Good evening, my sweetheart, my mate for life. It is imperative that I remain with you while pretending to be your moon given mate as long as possible. We have set up a system to ensure that you do not hide from us. We know you and they glued me on the hips. Therefore, I will need proof that you love me unconditionally before you can admit it. Get used to it because I will hold your hand and kiss your soft lips. That way, no one will know.

Zach –

It is so painful to be trapped when I am betraying my friend, my king. I can't let them kill my little sister; she must be so afraid of them. I know they are doing their homework; they know my parents are dead. Both my sister and I have only each other to rely on, the king and queen took us in as their own. I am going to betray them now.

I can't stand Melissa, or that she wants to hold my hand, and my wolf is going to tear her apart. Now what do I do? Zach and Clair both waved at me, but I feel too guilty to reciprocate the gesture. When he found Clair, I felt like I had lost a friend and a brother. We would almost always go places together now that he found Clair. We no longer hang out.

Mentally, I know I am being childish, but I can't seem to help how I feel. I jerk my hand away from Melissa's. Melissa's entire presence nauseated me. It was like the bile of the earth opened when she touched me and spit her out. Disgusted, I look at her, "tell your father because of my sister, he doesn't need to worry, but I will not work with you. Everyone would be suspicious if I went around pretending you are my mate. My friends all know what kind of woman I like and believe me it isn't you! Keep your hands off me!! Got it!!" I stand up angry and praying in my gut that they don't kill my sister because of my outburst with Melissa.

I bow my head and close my eyes with my fists knotted into balls of anger, trying to keep my wolf at bay. My wolf wants to rip Melissa to shreds, my wolf doesn't take kindly to disrespect, and that she is the Rogue Alpha's daughter doesn't sit well with my wolf, either. Melissa stared at me and was about to speak, when I silenced her, the last thing I need is my wolf ripping this place apart as well as ripping her apart.

"Melissa, SHUT UP, unless you want to be talking to my wolf!" I could feel her fear as she realized what was going on with me. I decide to screw this! Xander and I have always got through things together. I need his help to save my sister. Mind linking Xander while my head is bowed, "Xander, don't look at me and don't look like you are mind linking me. I am being watched everywhere, I am in trouble, please investigate me without many people knowing or my sister will die. I can't talk any longer." At that, I cut off the mind link.

I don't look at Melissa again; I storm out and into the woods, letting my wolf loose to run off the anger.

Xander –

Oh crap! I just got a mind link from Zach. I hold Clair's hand, concentrating on the circles I was leaving on her palm. "Clair don't look up," I mind link. "I believe Zach is in trouble. He just mind linked me asking me to investigate him, and to be cautious because his sister could die.”

Clair –

"What do you suggest?”

Xander –

"This sounds crazy, but what about Elanor? She is stealthy, she is not a wolf, and she is smart. They wouldn't see her coming.”

Clair –

Shaking my head, I know how dedicated the elf is to her charge. “Xander, Elanor is under her queens authority to guard and protect Akira. I do not believe that with her current orders from her queen I don’t think Elanor is able to help us. My curiosity is, if Elanor is in contact with her queen, otherwise how would she know when it is safe to take the princess back?

I have never asked her because that is none of my business. For right now it is good to know. I could guard the princess while Elanor did this covert operation for us. If Elanor is in touch with her queen maybe she could get authorized for it?”

Xander –

“Well, let’s talk to Elanor and put it on her plate and see how she responds.”

Clair –

“Xander, since security coupled with technology is my thing. Even though I am queen could I still oversee that area for the pack?”

Xander –

“This coming Sunday what is your title?”

Clair –

“Queen’

Xander –

“Do you consider yourself my equal?”

Clair –

In the past year, my egotistical playboy has changed so drastically that I was speechless. After I got Xander's face close to mine, I hugged him and kissed him, not wanting to let him be. I whisper in his ear, "actually I expect you to completely comply to my every demand in the bedroom." I laugh while kissing his neck completely forgetting we are in public.

"Ahem" the waitress appeared to say to me shyly. I laughed and sat back, ravaging through the nourishing dishes before me. I felt so hungry that I ordered more food to go with me.

As soon as I knew I could be the head of the electronic security department because I said so, I started heading that direction. There is no doubt in my mind that Xander will be calling Beta Michael and his mate Elanor to his office. I crossed my fingers that all will go well; Elanor would be the perfect candidate for this mission. While most of us have accepted her as one of us, we often forget that she is not a member of our pack.

The next thing I needed to do was to put together my beta, gamma, etc. In the next few hours, I will be out and about observing. I wish Elanor was in our pack. I would be happy to have her as my beta. She is a badass and I love her for it. She is Michael's mate, so that alone will make it possible for us to extend an olive branch to join the pack. I am not sure how I could make that work with her dedication to her queen.

Walking into the electronic security offices building, everyone bows their head. I smile and gesture them to rise. I walk into the main offices and ask they setup an office for me. I walk over to the head of security and ask him to show me around, I also want to see the recent footage for the last two weeks. The security officer seemed a little shocked at first his future queen wanted to see such things, but hey I am about to teach him, Security is not just a man’s field.
