Chapter 76

Chrissy –

While at the camp store I picked up a burner phone. I needed to let my brother know, it wasn’t my finger sent to him. He needed to know I was safe now, I could imagine the royal army out looking for me. I am surprised I remember my brothers phone number. The phone rings and my brother picks up sounding leery on who it is. He probably thinks it’s the rogue king calling him from a burner phone.

Zach-

I answer abruptly to the point of being rude. “Who is this?!”

Chrissy –

“Hey bro, it’s me Chrissy, I escaped. I am at a human campground with the guy who saved me. I need you to know, the finger they sent you was not my finger they cut off. I am fine.” I hear Zach sigh with relief.

Zach –

“Chrissy, I am so relieved, I can come right away to get you. You have no clue how this was affecting me. Thank you for being okay, thank you so much.”

Chrissy –

“You should be thanking the beta here. He got me out of there. By the way he is my mate. So be nice to him. I mean it!”

Zach –

“My question is how he saved you from the rogues? Unless he is one of them?”

Chrissy –

“Don’t start judging right away! Let him have the chance to explain to you the circumstances. Believe me if he wasn’t there, it would not have turned out well for me.”

Zach – “Let me talk to him right now.”

Chrissy – "Really?" I asked. You behave yourself with him!”

As I watched the beta nod his head in agreement, I felt relieved. So, I handed him the cell phone. I find it strange that I have yet to find out what his name is.

Beta – “Hey, my name is Jackson Hunter, I will answer what I can.”

Zach- “How is it you were with the rogues to save my sister?”

Jackson – “I am out to kill the rogue king. I want vengeance, the rogue king killed my parents and my pack. I didn’t expect your sister to be there, now I am not able to bring him to justice like I had planned. However, I am grateful because your sister is my mate.”

Zach – “What pack did you come from?” I am thinking to myself that his name sounded familiar like aa blast from the past.

Jackson – “It really is something I don’t like to talk about. I saw my parents ripped apart. I belonged to the Moon Shadow pack, my father was Alpha Hunter. I hate the Rogue king and I will kill him!”

Zach – “I can’t believe it! You and I used to play together. My dad was your dads beta. I thought we were the only ones that made it out alive. Dude, I cannot get that night out of my head, I will standby your side. We will take that psycho down. Have you been forced to be a rogue?”

Jackson - I had tears in my eyes, I did remember playing with Zach, his sister was only a toddler. We were all close, I thought I was the only one as well that made it out alive that night.

‘I didn’t have family, all my family lived in our pack. I had to learn to live off the land, I learned to fight well and be self-sufficient. To keep my humanity, I would live in the human world working various jobs. I did find out my dad had a human lawyer, and we were quite wealthy, I found this out in my teens.

I own huge companies, that part turned out well. The anger and hate was still there no matter how much money I had. Once I had learned my businesses inside and out that my parents left me, I left a couple of people I trusted to watch over things, while I went on a long vacation. I also left counter checks, which watch the people I left in charge and security on my laptops to watch everything.”

Zach –

“I need you two to lay low until I can get a helicopter to pick you two up. I am looking at most an hour from now. Give me the location where you two are at, I will be right there.”

Jackson –

"We're at the Hartfield campgrounds, the one that leads to the enchanted forest. I'm afraid we've been here too long. I need to heist a car and switch it from my old truck I took yesterday. Meet us at the old miller gas station about 2 hours up the road. Land the helicopter in the field back there. We've already overstayed, so meet us there. '"We got to go."

Hanging up the phone, I hand it back to Chrissy. I hotwired an old Mustang at the far end of the campground. I grab Chrissy and we're off. Every location got a 50,000 check from my accountant for the payment of the theft of the car.

The mustang was a welcome change from the rickety old truck we had been riding in.

Chrissy –

“I can understand now why he moon goddess put us together. We come from the same pack and live through the same nightmare. I am so glad I met you, I love that you are my mate. Thank you again for saving me.” I look at his rugged jaw and the scar right above his left eye. I reach to touch it without thinking. He starts to jolt away from me, but my touch calms him down. I can’t imagine what he must have suffered after the pack was killed off. I put my hand on his, the one that isn’t on the steering wheel.

I feel the sparks that feel amazing, and I see that it affects him too. I kiss him on his cheek, and then lay my body against him while he drives. I am not sure what happens from here, but I sure hope it includes us together.
