Chapter 75 WIZARDRY 101
Sobrina decided to gently let him go, after she noticed that his intention was no longer so pure, she was beginning to catch on to the hard reality. She peacefully stopped texting him. He waited for a week without receiving any text messages from her, "a whole week", he thought, and began to bombard her with text messages. He was scared his purpose had been untimely exposed.
"Welcome to the year of abundance, may this new year bring you and your family joy", he texted. Sobrina read and ignored it.
"I hope you are doing well Sobrina. It's been a shaky year. Don't worry you're yet to come into your great abundance", he texted, among many others. He knew exactly what buttons to push.
Sobrina thought that they were having issues in courtship, since it was the first time they were ever openly dating, and she gradually forgave him.
"Good morning Pastor Melvin. I'm hoping this year will bring abundance of joy to us all", Sobrina finally responded.
"It definitely will. I'll be getting married soon and it will probably not be to you", Pastor Melvin texted.
"May God's will be done", Sobrina responded, thinking he was speaking in parables as he always does. If she wasn't the one, then why was he reconnecting with her, after she'd decided to let him go?
"You speak of God, you should better give your life to him and everything else will start falling into place",
"I have peace with God", Sobrina responded.
"Lol, I hope you're still smelling and definitely approaching frustration", he responded.
"The things you gave me will soon finish, I was managing them so they don't until your arrival to my parent's home. So yes, even though I'll never be frustrated, I'll soon start smelling again", Sobrina responded with a smile on her face, thinking that he was joking with her.
"Like I said, I'll be getting married soon, and it will be forever with the one I love",
"Great, and I'll do everything in my power to help out", Sobrina responded happily, thinking the long wait was finally over. She'd been home waiting for him for over five months around now.
"I don't need your help, and when I'm done getting married, I'll travel abroad to further my studies",
"Alright, I'll just relax and eat then, probably get fat as well. Be sure to give me a baby before you travel", she responded. He didn't respond again and the conversation ended.
Sobrina was so happy, thinking that he'd finally confirmed that he would soon be to her parent's home, and to officially ask for her hand in marriage.
She began to announce to everyone that she was getting married soon. She even called one of her old friends - the girl that had accommodated her during the time she was rewriting her few courses, who knew about the entire details of the relationship - and asked her to be her bridesmaid. Sobrina continued to wait for him.
Sobrina and her family had been at their village for a brief festive vacation during the conversation. Few weeks after they returned, Sobrina's mother met her in the kitchen.
"You never told me that you were having issues with Pastor Melvin", she said. She had asked Sobrina after Pastor Melvin few days ago.
"Issues? Who said we're having issues?", Sobrina had learned a long time ago not to trust her mother, and the fact that she was constantly troubling her to return to her ex husband, made Sobrina very weary of her.
"He said you guys are having issues",
"He told you this?",
"No. I overheard him speaking to your younger brother on the phone", Sobrina's younger brother actually knew Pastor Melvin. He'd stayed in his room few years ago, when he had visited the University of Science, for an entrance exam.
"He called my younger brother?",
"Yes, your brother didn't tell you? He gave him a message for you",
"What message?",
"That he'll never marry you, and that you should leave his friends alone", She said.
Sobrina angrily walked out on her mother, thinking she was crazy and probably jealous. "Why so petty? You're my mother for crying out loud", she thought, and decided to stop discussing the issue with her.
A lady who had been very good friends with Pastor Melvin for a long time, and who had been thinking she was the best choice for a wife for him, had contacted Sobrina few weeks ago when she saw Pastor Melvin's picture on her social media display picture.
"Is it his birthday?", she had questioned.
"No, Mary",
"Why is he on your DP?",
"Because he's my fiancé",
"Lol, in what planet?",
"This very one, Mary. My relationship with Pastor Melvin is not a secret to you. I understand you like him. Please look elsewhere. He was taken a long time ago", Sobrina had responded.
They fought over the phone for sometime, and the lady had finally blocked her number. "Nice riddance", Sobrina had thought.
Now, she was wondering how her mother could have known about that occurrence, to be able to make up issues with it. But she assured herself that Pastor Melvin was over 33 years of age, a fully grown man. If he actually had such a message for her, he would deliver it by himself. Therefore, Sobrina saw her mother as a liar. She briefly Confrontated her little brother with questions and he refused to either confirm nor deny that he had spoken with Pastor Melvin, which didn't help at all. He in fact, agreed with Sobrina's argument about how Pastor Melvin could tell her by himself, if he actually intended so.
Sobrina was in her room few days later, when she began to hear her father's voice from the sitting room. He sounded very angry. She had texted Pastor Melvin earlier in the day, like she was used to - once in the morning and another before bed.
It happened that Pastor Davies had texted her father with loads of insults, asking him to warn his daughter to stay away from Pastor Melvin.
"Sobrina leave this man alone", her mother shouted at her, later in the morning of the following day.
"What happened?",
"He texted your father with insults. My husband's Blood Pressure is already shaky. please don't bring more headaches to his troubles", Sobrina's mother pleaded.
