Did Alex die?
“Death isn’t a negative word or an event, it’s a universal truth which motivates one to appreciate the life more.”
Xavier and Mason immediately contacted their detective and the Hawaii police.
Evelyn texted the cottage's address to Xavier, according to which they reached the cottage. The detective had asked for a backup which was secretly following them at a distance of a kilometer.
Xavier was about to break the door using his foot, when Mason grabbed his arm and pulled him behind, "Don't be a fool Xavier, they can't know our arrival."
Nodding his head, they both let the detective and Hawaii police enter the abandoned cottage.
There were numerous narrow passages, and it was really hard to know where they kept Alexander and Evelyn, until "Stay away from my son!" Yelled Evelyn.
Following the voice, the police increased their pace as they made their presence known to the criminals, warning:
"FREEZE! THIS IS HAWAII POLICE."
Savannah's eyes widened as she exclaimed in disbelief whilst looking at Evelyn, "You played us!"
"You are a criminal." Spat Chris.
"I'm not going to let you get away so easily." She tsked.
Pointing the gun at Alexander, she pulled the trigger before the police could take any actions.
"NO!" Evelyn yelled in horror.
Everything around her blurred, the police making a fuzz of arresting the criminals was all drowned out as she struggled with so many things. She struggled to get out of the ropes so that she could run to Alex, whom she always considered as her son, who had been in front of her for so many weeks but still she didn't recognize him.
One of the police got to him before her as he checked Alexander as one was opening Evelyn's rope. As soon as she was free, Evelyn ran towards Alexander but an arm around her waist stopped her. She knew the person who was holding her, she knew this scent. It was the scent, she could recognize anywhere in the world but right now her eyes, her brain, her being was stuck on her son's motionless little fragile figure.
Evelyn was aware as she was struggling to get to him, to touch him. Maybe he would wake up when she would touch him, right?
Alexander was moved on a stretcher and taken away from her. Evelyn gave up struggling then and let Xavier hold her, and she was suddenly aware of every ache in her body.
Her arm ached, her headache, her cheek ached, the painful bike in her throat ached, her stomach ached but the ache that stood out the most was the ache in her heart.
Xavier was continuously trying to say something to her, but that voice never reached her ears.
The thoughts were messing around her head, the thought that she didn't even get the chance to tell him she remembered him, that she was his mother, that how much she missed her Xander, that how much she loved him, that how much she wanted to give him a mother's care.
And just like that darkness consumed her, just the way it did to her heart.
