Chapter 141 Burn One’s Bridges
She handed out the envelope.
When he had finished, Jory had a glint of surprise in his eyes. "You're going for it. I must say, Miss Archimedes, you've got a lot of nerve."
"I thought Mr. Sell knew that from the day he met me."
Jory shook his head with a wry smile. "Yeah."
If she hadn't been so brave, she wouldn't have helped him go public early.
Jory nodded with these things. "I think I'm a little sure, if I have them, but I'm curious about one thing. I don't know if Miss Archimedes can answer."
"Mr. Sell is free to ask any questions."
Since you want to ask for help, you should have the attitude.
"I heard from my cousin Blu earlier that you seemed to know Bert well, but you could have called him, and the matter could have been settled easily, without so much trouble."
It's a familiar word Jory used to make a mistake, but everyone knew what was going on between them.
"I don't feel that I need his help in this matter." Bane's faint opening.
Jory looked at her for a moment after a pause, and then chuckled. "Miss Archimedes seems to do everything herself."
Bane said nothing.
She knew that if she had asked Bert for help, it would have been easy to settle the matter in a few words, and she was not a thin-skinned person.
If it had been for her mother's sake, she would have gone to him for help.
It's just that things are different now.
She likes him, as the saying goes, the emotional world who first tempted who lost, she did not want to lose more.
If she spoke now, perhaps she and Bert would never have equaled the scales today.
"I must say, Miss Archimedes, I admire you, no wonder Bert took a fancy to you."
"Jory said.
Bane did not answer him directly, but gave him a faint nod. "Mr. Sale, I hope we can have a pleasant cooperation."
"Of course."
After the two agArchimedes, they left.
It was not long before Jory sent a representative of the Sell Group to the Archimedes Group to get a first look at the situation.
The plan is going well according to Bane.
For some reason, Bane felt a little uneasy, because Jory had gotten in so easily, and Archimedes had no doubt that Jory was really there to help him.
It was not at all in keeping with his paranoid character.
She had thought that Archimedes had taken some picture of threatening her by putting her in bed with Ward after he had knocked her unconscious.
But he did not move at all.
This is weird.
If he did take the picture, he could have used it to threaten her or Bert.
Forcing Bert to shoot.
God knows what a proud man Bert was.
But why can Archimedes be so calm?
Archimedes's on fire. He can't sit still.
Was the man who had dazzled her not Archimedes after all?
The thought sent a chill down Bane's back.
As soon as it happened, she assumed it was Archimedes and never thought of anyone else.
But she had forgotten that Rosa and Betz were at the Archimedes's, too. Could they have done it?
Bane could only feel the confusion in his head.
"Mommy, do you have a minute now?"
Norton's voice came from the door. He was standing in the doorway, looking like he was about to speak.
"Of course, Norton." Bane went to the door and led him in.
She carried him to the bed and sat down beside her.
Norton looked preoccupied, and the words fell back on his lips.
"Norton, just say anything, and mommy don't be afraid." Bane rubbed his head.
"Mommy, there's one thing I don't understand."
'What?
"Before... One night Mommy went out and didn't come back all night. May I ask Mommy where she went?"
Bane's heart missed a beat. He glanced at Norton and saw that he was looking down, wondering what he was thinking.
One thing she was sure of, though, was that Norton seemed to know something.
Norton looked up, looking at her warily and firmly, as if he needed to know the answer.
Norton does not know what to do when she sees Bane's reddish eyes.
"It's my fault, Marmee, that I shouldn't have asked you that question. It doesn't matter if you don't answer."
Norton thinks his own problems have made Mummy sad, and scrambles to wipe her tears, heart throbbing.
"Mommy's all right." Bane sighed and put his arms around him. "Norton, do you believe what Mammy is saying?"
"Mommy, no matter what time, Norton will believe you."
Hearing him say this, Bane had thought of a good reason suddenly did not know how to speak.
"Actually, the other day Mummy was knocked unconscious and she woke up in a tavern. Norton, do you know something by asking?"
Otherwise he wouldn't have asked her.
Norton bit his lower lip, thought for a moment, then nodded. "Mommy, did someone hurt you on purpose?"
Bane nodded.
"Who's Mommy to do that? Why did he hurt you?"
"Mummy doesn't know."
"Did you tell Daddy about it?"
"Not yet."
Norton looks down, a sudden look of determination in his eyes.
"Mommy, you rest assured, no matter what happens I will protect you, the bad guy will certainly not succeed, Mommy do not be afraid."
He wants to protect Mommy.
Bane only felt warm at the sound of Norton's soft, waxy voice.
She hugged him tightly and whispered, "Norton, don't worry, Mommy will take care of this."
"Norton," she said, "would you please tell Mommy why you know this?"
Norton is stunned and suddenly lowers his head and says in a low voice, "I was a little worried when I saw Mommy didn't come back all night before, so I asked the teacher to help me find out where Mommy was. The teacher said that he saw Mommy in the hotel, but the surveillance seemed to be broken, so he couldn't find out your exact location."
"The teacher you're talking about..."
She had often heard Norton mention the teacher, but she did not know who it was.
"Mommy, my teacher is a super smart person."
Norton's face was full of pride when he spoke of the teacher.
"So Norton, will you let me meet your teacher?"
To be able to find out where she is so easily, this person, is really very powerful.
"I don't mind, but there's something strange about the teacher. I've never seen him help anyone, and he charges a lot if he does, but don't worry, Mommy, I've got some pocket money saved up, so you can use it."
Hearing him say this, Bane only felt very cute, moved and funny.
"Norton, Mommy doesn't need your money. All you have to do is tell me how to get in touch with your teacher. Mommy takes care of the rest."
