Chapter 147 Panic
Lisa gave Bane a deep look on the way out, as if to say I know you don't have to say anything.
Catherine had no other choice but to console Vell, who gave Bane a fierce look that she would have eaten her alive.
"Why don't you come to our meeting? It's a group of people who are new to the financial world and have a chat with them. There are some people who know a lot about the world.
Catherine was about to interrupt them when he invited Bane, but something seemed to have struck her into silence.
Bane refused, almost subconsciously, but Vader, looking all curious, said yes at once.
Black didn't force them to go either, but just made an appointment and left.
Only Bane was planning to go the next minute because Bert had just sent a text.
"I'm coming to pick you up for dinner tonight. There's something I want to talk to you about."
When he saw something and told her, Bane subconsciously thought about him and Ward. Did he already know?
She took a deep breath and hurried back to his message.
"I might have a meeting after work and I'm running late, why?"
There seems to be no news of Bert.
Bane immediately ran over to Black and told him he had changed his mind.
Black wasn't impressed. "Do I need to pick you up after work?"
Bane remembered his luxury car, and his mouth twitched. Then he agArchimedes.
"Please, please."
When it was time to leave work, Black drove them to a cafeteria full of buffets and sparkling crystal chandeliers.
We a few people a few people casually together chat tea, and they imagine it seems to be a little different.
Black waited until they came in and let them be themselves, talking only to the people they knew.
Vader tugged at Bane with a nervous air. She looked around, somewhat disappointed.
'What's the matter?
"I'm looking to see if he comes."
"He?"
"Why, that's Ward."
When she said Ward, Bane made a conscious nervous move.
"What do you want with him?
"Come on, his reputation is right up there with Black's, and of course he needs to meet."
Ward's here, too?
Bane suddenly regretted having come to this place.
"You mean... Ward came to the workshop?"
Vader acquiesced without saying anything.
Almost the next second Bane saw two men enter the door. It was Ward and Maria.
Ward noticed Bane immediately, and his eyes met, and Bane looked away almost immediately.
It was the first time they had met since the last incident.
Ward had never expected Bane to be in a place like this, and he had mixed feelings when he saw her, though he remained calm and smiling all the time.
Maria's heart sank when she saw Bane.
"It's Bane, shall we go and talk to her?"
Ward had not expected Maria to speak first.
Ward agArchimedes at once, and the two men walked toward Bane without thinking, only Black followed halfway down the road.
"Ward? I didn't expect you to come. I invited you before, but you didn't come."
Black was surprised, too.
Ward politely curls his mouth. "Just in time."
Black was happy to see him coming. "That's good," he said. "We should talk more."
"Excuse me, wait a minute, I'm going to say hello to my friend right now."
With those words, he moved directly aside.
This time Maria did not follow. She stopped to talk to Black for a while, but kept her eyes on Bane and Ward not far away.
"Bane, I didn't expect to see you here."
Bane sighed helplessly. "What a coincidence."
Vader, shocked, noticed that she had been shocked every day since she had met Bane. "Bane, why didn't you tell me that you and Ward were friends too?"
Bane also felt guilty.
Ward looked politely aside at Vader and nodded. "Hello, do you know me?"
Vader held out his hand excitedly. "Of course I do, Ward. How could anyone not know that you're so good that I didn't think I'd live to see you.
"She and I are friends." Ward croaked his mouth politely.
Bane admitted without saying anything.
Vader had grown more and more admiring of Bane, and for some reason she felt that she was carrying a big leg.
At the same time, Bane suddenly hears her Sell phone ring. She takes it out, only to find that it's Bert.
She almost threw the phone out.
She took a deep breath and answered quickly.
Bert's voice was low and angry. "Where are you now?"
Bane looked around unconsciously, but did not seem to see Bert.
Did he come here too?
But why had no one seen him?
A moment later, Bert spoke again. "Bane, you're learning to lie to me."
Bane could only clench his teeth and say, "I'm really here at the conference."
"Then you tell me who else went to the seminar?"
Bane hesitated for a moment, then whispered, "Ward's here too."
There was an instant silence.
Bane found the empty space before he continued, "But I had no idea he was coming."
"You seem to be afraid of me."
He did not say this in a questioning tone, and it was confirmed.
Bane had a chill in his back.
Bert is so smart, this is a phone call to hear her tone, can think of so many things.
She shook her head quickly. It occurred to her that he might not see it.
"Why do you do that?
He continued to speak.
Bane didn't know what to say.
"Bane, where the hell were you one night when I was on a business trip?"
Bane thought. He was Bert, and he couldn't be fooled so easily.
It seemed to her that she had been too simple-minded. Everyone knew Bert was a mighty man, and yet she had been taken in by his occasional tenderness.
Only such a short thing, are his disguise.
"Said."
