Chapter 188 Four Months
She's almost four months old now, and her belly is getting bigger. Although she's still thin, there's already some meat on her face.
'Sophie is due for surgery in two weeks and I'm ready for everything.'
Bane felt suddenly nervous when Bert said this.
"Is everything ready? Is there no problem?"
"Don't worry, I've got everything ready. I've been putting it off for a while because of something that happened to the doctor's family."
Although he could hear from other experts now, this doctor was the most authoritative and the best in the field, and his daughter wanted the best in everything he had.
Feeling Bane's immediate nervousness, he said softly, "It's all right. The doctor told me that the success rate of this operation is above 95 percent. Besides, Sophie's overall health has improved a lot during this period.
But even so, she still felt uneasy: "Do you want to double check, in case it is not up to the standard for the operation?"
Bert gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek. "Don't worry. Sophie will be checked every day, and the doctor thinks it's all right to operate now."
Bane tried to compose himself. "Did you tell me about the kids?"
"I haven't said, but I've thought for a moment that she might feel safer around you."
Bane knew, too, that although Sophie was happy and adored her new daddy, she liked her even more.
"Well, I'll talk to Sophie."
Bert, watching Bane look worried, could not restrain himself now by bending his head directly to kiss her, and only after a long time would he let go.
"How to do, see you this expression I can't help it, you also know I endure for a long time."
Bane's face turned red and angry. "Is it my fault? Then you must have the baby now, who would never have been born if it hadn't been for you."
Bert was speechless.
He must go for the operation as soon as the baby comes out.
Sophie had already decided when to have her operation, so everyone was nervous.
Bert had put off work altogether and stayed at the villa with the children, and would not have wanted to leave if Bane had not forced him to go back to work.
Because the more abnormal he was, the more nervous Sophie was likely to feel.
But it was for this reason that Bane suddenly felt that the operation might not be as easy as Bert had said, and that his nervousness made her feel warm, even though she knew the success rate was relatively high.
She had already told Sophie that she had always been clever and sensible, even though she was still a child, and had comforted the mommy.
She felt so guilty at the thought that she went to Sophie's room to sleep with her that night. Bert was somewhat reluctant, but he said nothing.
"Mommy, will I sleep forever?"
Sophie suddenly whispered.
Bane paused, his eyes reddened. "No, Sophie will be all right. Mummy, brother, and daddy will all be with you.
Sophie held her in her arms, quiet and sweet as ever. She had always been cheerful, bouncing around every day to everyone's delight.
But now she was lying quietly in Bane's arms.
"Mommy, no matter I will be strong, I will accompany Mommy, accompany brother and daddy."
She wasn't afraid of death at all. She just couldn't bear to mommy them.
Bane's heart ached with pain.
"Sophie, Mummy will always be with you."
Sophie did not answer. Instead, she looked down at Bane's belly and touched it gently. "Mommy, is it a brother or a sister?"
"Does Sophie want a brother or a sister?"
"Both my brother and sister want them, so if Mommy has twins, my younger sister will be taught to draw and dance, and my younger brother will be taken by my elder brother, who is very good."
Bane smiled and rubbed her head.
"Mommy, you disappeared for a while. Where did you go?"
When she asked, Bane was shocked and nervous.
"Why all of a sudden? Mummy's out on business."
Sophie paused. "Mommy, are you going to be with Daddy forever?"
In the old days Sophie would have hesitated and wondered what to say, but no longer.
"Yes, Mommy will not separate from Daddy."
At ease, Sophie clutched the hem of Bane's coat. "Mammy, Sophie knows Daddy used to bully you, but it's okay. Brother will avenge you when he's here.
Bane was amused. "What did Sophie do?"
"Daddy's birthday present. He's going to be sad to get it."
"What did Sophie send?
"Secretly."
"Sophie won't let Daddy hurt Mommy any more."
"Good boy, Sophie, it's time to go to bed." Bane patted her on the head and cradled her in his arms to lull her to sleep. Soon Sophie's even breathing was audible.
Bane's heart ached at the sight of Sophie's calm face. She knew that Sophie was really afraid, that she was only a child after all, all she had been trying to reassure her.
Although she knew from birth that she was in poor health and took pills and injections every day, she still felt scared.
Bane secretly tucked her in and got up to leave.
As she went out she saw Bert at the door all the time.
"How's Sophie?
"Already asleep."
There was a catch in Bane's voice, and he felt even worse.
"Bert, it's going to work, promise me."
"All right, I promise."
Bane said nothing more, and was held in his arms, perhaps the only way she could settle down.
Although surgery was imminent, they sent Sophie to school as usual because doctors said there was nothing wrong with her and that she should not feel pressure to change her lifestyle suddenly.
But nothing had occurred to them that this time Sophie had been in an accident.
Although it is only a small thing to hear when still a little surprised.
Sophie was fighting with other students at school.
Bane hung up the phone and went straight to the kindergarten.
Bane had planned to call Bert, but realized that Sophie was only a girl after all, and that this was something she certainly did not want to tell her father.
To be honest, she didn't plan to say it right away. If she came here, she might destroy the kindergarten.
