Chapter Thirty Three
“Daniel would be so disappointed in you, Tyra. Your father was a man who knew how to get things done. The only problem was that he was too loyal to the wrong people. Maybe you inherited his weakness!”
“I’m not sparing her, mother! It’s just… she has nothing right now!” Tyra exclaimed. “Rebecca has been calling all the shots at the company for the better part of this year.”
“That wouldn’t be a problem if you worked on Lucas Erikson like we agreed, would it?” her mother snapped.
“But I told you what happened, Mum!”
“Right, you did. She got to him before you. Can you ever do anything right for once?”
Tyra balled her hands into fists and glared out of the window. It was her father’s death anniversary, and her mother was more agitated than ever about her failure to make the Eriksons and Lemaiyans pay for what they did.
But, what could she do? She had been unable to get close to Lucas. The guy had his eyes trained on Amanda, and he never entertained her advances. At that one time at his parents wedding anniversary, she had almost believed that she could fool him into getting closer to her. Then when she secretly followed Amanda two days later after she went drinking, she ended up at his place. It was six months later and the two were still sneaking around, keeping everyone else in the dark.
She had many photos of the two at the boat that could create a messy scandal if they appeared on the news. But that would get her nothing. In fact, given the way Charles was treating Amanda after what happened with her ex-fiancé, such a scandal would make her lose more favour with her father. If that happened, who knew when he would entrust her with the company again?
“You have been sitting on that information for half an year now,” Elizabeth said. She reached for her bag and searched inside. “We should have done this earlier.”
“Done what?” Tyra asked.
Elizabeth retrieved a small box from her bag. “They meet at her place sometimes, don’t they?”
Tyra nodded. “Yes.”
Elizabeth handed her the box. “Get into her bedroom and find somewhere to fix this. It’s small. If you hide it well, she won’t see it.”
Tyra took the box. It was a micro camera. “You want me to…”
“Yes, Tyra. Get a video of them together. I’m sure Charles will not hesitate to cough up millions to keep such a scandal out of the family.” She came to her feet, taking her bag with her. “They betrayed your father for money. Let’s make them pay.”
Even before her mother had walked out of her front door, Tyra already knew what she was going to do.
Amanda and Lucas had just gotten back from their trip to New York. There couldn’t be a better time to set up a sleepover at her best friend’s house.
---
The next evening, Tyra walked out of the elevator at Lemaiyan Fits and towards Cara’s desk. It was almost seven o’clock, but Cara was still there. However, she was packing up to leave.
“Evening, Cara,” she greeted, casting a glance at Amanda’s door. It was closed. She hadn’t missed her, had she?
“Hi, Tyra!”
“Did I miss Amanda? She told me she would be working late.”
“No, you didn’t. She just went up to the CEO’s office. Want me to make a call?”
Tyra waved her hand. “No, no need. You go ahead, I’ll wait.”
Cara shouldered her bag and walked from behind her desk. “Okay. I’ll leave first, then.”
Once Cara was gone, Tyra went to the elevator and punched the button to go upstairs.
It was way past work hours, everyone was gone, and Amanda was in the CEO’s office?
She was almost certain of what she would find once she got there.
She only hoped the door wasn’t locked.
When she got to the floor with the CEO’s office, she was glad to find the reception area empty. The two were really alone in the office.
Her heart drummed in her chest as she realised that maybe, after all, she wouldn’t be needing the camera her mother gave her.
She walked towards the office door, keeping her footsteps as light as possible.
If she was lucky…
If only she was lucky, she would finally be able to accomplish what she had been after all this time.
The door was closed. If there was anything going on behind it, the only way to find out was by opening it. But, what if they saw her?
She could apologise for not knocking and play it off.
What if they were really getting intimate in the office and saw her?
She could act surprised and vow to not say anything to anyone. Then later, she could act offended that Amanda hadn’t let her in on the secret.
After several minutes of deliberation, she threw all caution to the wind.
Wrapping her fingers around the door handle, she pulled it downwards. Then she pushed the door open, slowly. Inch by inch, silently…
She grind to a stop when a feminine gasp emanated from inside the office. Then a man’s deep groan.
They really were having sex in the office!
Quickly, she reached into her bag for her phone and turned on the camera. They still hadn’t noticed the door opening, so they were probably facing away from it. But she wasn’t going to push her luck.
Bringing her hand forward, she placed her phone in the small gap in the open door. Immediately, her camera captured an image of Lucas and Amanda. They were indeed facing away from the door, with Amanda bent over the desk while Lucas fúcked her from behind.
She couldn’t believe her luck!
Hand quivering from excitement, she pressed the button for video recording.
For ten seconds, she recorded everything they did and said—which included Lucas calling Amanda by her name. Heavens, it couldn’t get any better!
Satisfied with her newly collected blackmail material, Tyra withdrew her phone and slowly pulled the door closed.
Taking the ride down the elevator and walking out of the building, her smile wouldn’t leave her face.
Forget the sleepover.
It was game over for Amanda Lemaiyan.
