Chapter 14 Happy now?
My brain stuttered hearing her name. Molly? Of course I'll never forget that name.
"Ava. Ava Suarez."
I usually don't say my name to just anyone, but I want her to remember who I am. Now that I see him in person I realize more that it is beautiful. I remember looking and fishing for some information about her all night acting like some sort of an obsessed girlfriend.
What was different then was not, now it is true that I was his girlfriend. Let me rephrase it, pretend I'm his girlfriend. Her plump lips just smirked and turned back to Levi as if nothing had happened.
Every twitch of his mouth I followed and every hold he held on the tilt of his hair was also purely out of breath in my nose.
"Restroom."
He's so attentive on everything that I say, he immediately turned to me as well as his woman. Did he know I was here? He still wanted to accompany me but that was too much. I can walk alone. It's embarrassing and I might disturb your little time.
"You sure?"
I smiled and and nodded, I looked at her also and raw smile what he gave me. You can argue with woman about everything and such but you can't argue with woman when their instinct is kicking in. I just knew that she seems not to like me. And I'm not giving a damn care about it. I took a bathroom inside the hotel because I knew a lot of people outside. I'm not mistaken because when I went there we were just two girls.
There are 4 cubicles. After doing my business I checked myself at the mirror, the woman next to me was doing the same. I'm still fine. My skin is just too cold because of the air outside. The girl seems to be done after fixing and she goes out.
I was alone in the restroom but there was still a closed cubicle so I realized I still had someone with me. I was fixed my strands of hair when I saw a words imprinted in the lower part of the mirror. It's red like a smudge of a lipstick. Happy now? It was as if I felt a strange thump in my chest. Like some sort of horror that I've only watched in a movie.
I am nailed on my place looking at the words in the mirror like it was not supposed to be there. I looked around the closed cubicle but for a few seconds the whole rest room was still silent. I looked at my self again and back to the mirror feeling if the person would come out of that cubicle but nothing really.
Am I alone? I hurried out of the restroom, I keep on turning my head to see if someone will come out from the restroom but there was just none, my heels clacked to the silent hallway.
My stomach felt cold and I don't know why, I hurried my walk until I reached the place with the noise. When I returned, Levi was standing alone. Our eyes immediately met a glance at him, my gaze still remained on my back because I could not forget what I saw before.
"What's wrong?"
He slid his hands to my waist and looked back like he was checking what I was turning my head into. Both of my hands are grasping to his arms. I let out a long sigh, making sure I was pale. Am I too tired to hallucinate things?
"What happened?" He held my chin to level our eyes. I shook my head and bowed again.
"I think I'm j-just tired."
"Then let me take you home."
"But Aunt Matilda."
I objected because he quickly led me away from our place. He scanned my face before saying,
"Do you want to stay?"
I blinked twice and thought the incident in the bathroom, I think I need to rest.
"No."
"Then let's go."
He pulled me immediately to get out of there. The media greeted us but I never felt the chaos while Levi was towering over me. A valet and his car is waiting already. I was quiet the whole trip and I could feel Levi's occasional look. I have calmed down now but I still think about what I saw before.
Maybe I'm just tired, what if there's a letter there? Someone just probably tripped to vandalize things there, in the crowd.
"You sure you're okay?"
We got to the elevator and that was Levi's introduction to me. I smiled to assure him I'm okay. But in the corner of my mind I suddenly remembered the conversation he had with Molly. He drove me all the way to my unit. I thought he'll come in right away after I opened the door but he was just left outside the door. I stared at him there holding his suit in his hand.
"Do you still want to come in or ..." are you going home? I wanna add.
He pursed his lips and sighed, he entered my door. My heart secretly rejoiced.
"I'll just change."
I easily changed into comfortable clothes as he was left there in the living area. I messed up my hair as I walked out of my bedroom. I rushed because I don't want to leave him alone. I saw him standing in front of the glass wall and overlooking the vast city. He turned to me as soon as he felt my presence.
"You should rest. I'll go now."
"I'll just put it in the vase and I'll rest too."
Me pertaining to the bouquet in the table. He just quietly followed my movements while sitting on the sofa.
"Are you going to VREC tomorrow?"
I cut the stem before looking at him.
"I still have a shoot. I signed up a leave to Ms. Madrigal. I'm sorry for... being absent."
One look at him and I turned my attention back to the flowers.
"After that schedule?" He narrowed his eyes on me.
"Hmm, maybe I'll be back on Wednesday." "Then what time will you work tomorrow? I'll pick you up."
I turned to him and immediately removed my eyes, it's just ... there's something in his eyes that I can't shrug of. Kind of hopeful and expecting, it seemed like my heart was pinched for a moment.
"You don't have to do that. There are no press or media there. Besides this is not NYC, there are no paparazzi." I smiled timidly.
I finished placing the flower and took it to the sink to fill with water. He did not respond to what I said. When I went to the living area with the vase, he answered me.
"There ... might be some."
I stared at the vase and sat down on the other side of the sofa. I'm sure there won't be any presses going there because it's just a simple photo shoot like some of my usual projects. Anyway, maybe he was just this eager to do this pretending of us so that he could get his benefit.
"Early, about 7 AM."
He nodded and pout turned his gaze to the vase. We are both staring at it now. "Before 7 AM then ..."
"Don't you have a job at VREC?"
"It's my off."
When he snouts. My pressed my lips and nodded. He immediately stood up, I was alarmed and so I stand up too. He's leaving? Immediately?
He let out a deep sigh. His eyes trailed my eyes I could see the tiredness and doubt. I thought for a moment that he was also tired because he came straight here from his project.
"Are you coming back to the party?"
"No, I'm going home. I only came because you're there. I wasn't supposed to attend."
My heart pounded at what he said. The nod I made was slow, as if the vein in my brain would explode, suppressing a smile to pretend that what I heard was normal.
"Okay, thank you for tonight and ... for the flowers."
He did not answer but his gaze remained on my face. He's so good in this, his eyes are wide and I can feel the strange emotion here. He smiled faintly. I saw a mixture of joy and sadness in him.
"Tomorrow." I nodded.
