125 - The chapter where Rose gives up denying
Rose
I enjoyed the party, the pool, the music, and most of all, the female company there. I mingled with a group of girls from Gamma Delta, one of the smaller sororities on campus, and it wasn't long before Camille and Sky joined me. Making much of my evening enjoyable. Although Alicia had tried to approach Christian several times, our friends had managed to thwart all of her attempts up to that point.
I was already tired of that situation. Our group was relatively close to where the boys were sitting, talking in a group. My gaze crossed with Christian's all the time, but I disguised as best I could the desire to be with him.
"So you all got tattoos together? That's so cool " Claire, one of the girls, commented when she saw the art on Sky's ankle.
"Each one represents our course, this is mine," I turned around, brushing the hair out of the back of my head.
" You have several,” Juddy hissed.
" And I intend to have more, but the next one I want to do will be somewhere a bit more... intimate.”
Sky gave me a surprised look at that information. I had been thinking about getting a tattoo on my groin for a few days. I knew Christian's birthday was coming up and I wanted to surprise him.
" I didn't know that! Where? “
" I'd better tell you in detail later " I disagreed.
" I love your tattoo, what does it mean? " One of the girls asked Cam.
" ohhh it's the serotonin molecule, it's the happiness hormone " she explained shyly, touching the design marked on her skin.
" Well, since you're from the area, tell me about Davis' tattoo, it's really cool " Juddy lowered her tone.
" Not just the tattoo, right," Claire added, drawing laughter from the girls, who cast discreet glances at Christian, making my blood boil, although I limited myself to putting a fake smile on my lips.
" What does it mean?”
" That one I can answer. It's the endorphin molecule,” the smile died as I heard Allie's voice, “you know, the pleasure hormone!”
Yes, the pleasure hormone, it suits him very well, and it's all mine, bitch! was what I shouted in my mind, but personally I just rolled my eyes as I turned around and saw her approaching next to Susan.
It was a surprise she wasn't glued to Audrey, but a quick search was enough to locate the leader of that horde of zombies they called the sorority smiling, leaning against one of the windows talking to a guy.
" The pleasure hormone? That's interesting. Does it live up to the tattoo? " Claire lowered her tone even further. " He's been out there alone all night, do I have a chance?”
Sky and Cam gave me a worried look, but I kept silent, just sipping my cocktail.
" He certainly does, I can tell that just from his kiss,” Allie added with a smile on her face, looking straight at me, “And he won't be alone for long, I'm sorry but today I intend to find out every detail about him.”
The girls looked at Allie in awe, who remained with the same victorious expression on her face. That's when I decided to speak up.
" Really? And how do you intend to do that? Because I remember very well hearing him say that nothing would happen between you, not even if you were the last woman on earth", I gave my best smile, but Allie seemed indifferent.
" It's funny, because on Friday he didn't seem to think that, you were there, you saw the way he kissed me " she returned, opening an even more satisfied smile before adding " It wasn't the first time and it won't be the last.”
I stared at her dumbfounded at such audacity, not sure how to respond, because all I wanted to do was hit her in the head with my glass.
" 'In fact, I even bought a pink jacket, you know, so I don't lose my style when I go riding with him,' she continued.
That comment made me laugh, Sky and Cam exchanged a worried glance, looking ready to hold me back should I decide to fly at her neck.
" Are you thinking you're going to get on the Harley at some point? " I sneered.
" 'I know I will,' she returned, not shaking.
" No fucking way,” I narrowed my eyes, still smiling.
Without saying anything else I handed the glass I was holding to one of the girls, making my way without any delicacy, bumping into Allie as I passed through the middle of the group.
" Hey, what do you think…”
I didn't wait for her to complete that sentence. This had gone on long enough and I was tired.
" Hey, you arrogant bastard! " Without worrying at all about who was present, I raised my voice, catching Christian's attention, who frowned, sighing as soon as he saw me.
Silence reigned between the two groups and a few other people who were close enough to understand what was going on even with the music playing.
" What does she think she's doing? " I heard Allie complain behind me.
"What do you want, you little freak? Didn't we agree that you would leave me alone?" Christian raised his face as I approached, looking confused by the situation.
But before he could say anything else, I climbed onto his lap, placing a leg on either side of his body before bringing my hand to the back of his neck, pulling his face towards mine.
Christian didn't hesitate to match the kiss with urgency, his tongue dancing along with mine as I felt his hands on my hips, clinging my body to his, squeezing my flesh without any shame.
That wasn't a kiss I usually exchanged in public, in fact, that was a kiss that usually happened when I was sure there was no one around and we could have fun. And Christian's mind seemed to have gone the same way judging by the way his body was reacting.
A smile appeared on my lips as I heard some surprised whispers around us, finally breaking the kiss, getting my lips against his, still with my eyes closed.
" What was that? " he asked.
" That was me getting tired of being an idiot and wasting time and assuming my boyfriend for everyone." I opened my eyes, pulling away to look into his, which were shining with a mixture of amusement and pride.
We heard some murmurs around us, but what finally made me look away from him was Allie's flawed voice.
" What's that?”
" That's their couple's therapy,” Sky replied instead.
" Couples therapy? " Susan was surprised.
" 'Believe me, it's very effective, it's kept them both from killing themselves over the last few months,” Theo quipped.
Without thinking much, I kissed him again, enjoying the moment more, this time, Christian's hand closed on a handful of my hair, making me sigh against his lips.
" Yes, this is what happens every time they start arguing a lot and exchanging unkind nicknames. You can consider that arguments and offenses are the foreplay of the two of them " Liam added " So I'm sorry, but everyone in our group is unavailable.”
" And you two don't need to have sex here to show everyone that you're together, everyone already understood," Theo added, making me move away from Christian, getting up from his lap.
" But I swore you two were together " a girl pointed at Theo and Christian, making my eyes widen "at least that's what my friend told me.”
Theo frowned, letting out a mirthless laugh as Christian pinched the bridge of his nose after getting up from the lounger.
" The two of us? Together, like a couple? Why would you think that? " Theo asked confused.
" 'Well, my friend was interested in…”
" 'Chris, now that we've cleared up this whole situation about who's on the back of your bike and who will never get the chance, how about we dance a little? Let's enjoy the party." I grabbed his hand, dragging him away from everyone, casting a victorious look as I passed by Alicia who was staring at me with a not so friendly expression.
We walked out of the pool, around the place, up the stairs to the mezzanine, and onto the dance floor.
" Couldn't we just walk in holding hands like a normal couple? " Christian quipped, moving closer to my ear so I could hear him over the loud music.
" We're not a normal couple." I wrapped my arms around his neck, standing on tiptoe to kiss him.
He smiled still against my lips, still seeming not to believe what was happening. I could feel the people around us watching us, but I couldn't care less about that.
" Little Freak!”
" Asshole," I said back without blinking.
