131 - The chapter with the division of the rooms
Rose
After getting over the shock of Liam's new reality, we signed the damn contract and quickly went upstairs, starting to discuss the division of rooms, leaving our parents downstairs.
" We have four suites and three good-sized bedrooms and a communal bathroom,” Theo declared as we walked into the hall upstairs. Liam had settled into one of the two armchairs that faced the staircase, but I kept my distance from them, as it seemed like the perfect place for a couple of spirits to rest after haunting the whole place " We just need to work out who gets which room...”
" I'll take the master suite," Liam warned, and we didn't bother trying to retort.
" I think it's obvious that the suites should be for the girls," Sky pointed out.
I opened the door to one of the bedrooms, next to the master suite that had windows facing the side of the house. Going to one of the windows, I opened it, observing the view.
" This is unfair, just because we're men we don't deserve the chance to have a private bathroom? " Theo complained " And you can't just say you're taking the master suite, we should follow some rule to share it properly, and…”
" I followed the I said it first rule, so the place is mine. Sounds simple to me,” Liam shrugged.
" 'That's not how it works! ', complained Theo, starting a small discussion among the group, where each one defended their vision of how the division of the rooms should be done.
I walked the length of the room I was in, opening the door, observing a sizable bathroom with an old bathtub next to the shower. I walked over to the large window there, opening the curtain to look out onto the street, listening to the argument growing outside the room. I returned to the group, finding our parents standing in the middle of them, arms crossed, trying to calm the situation.
" Right, and how are you doing the division? " Thomas asked.
" I'm following the I spoke first, so the room is mine rule, but Theo thinks it's unfair" Liam complained.
"Unfair why? That's life, the fastest get the best places, son", my father pointed out.
" I'll take this room here,” I raised my voice, interrupting Theo who was about to retort.
" See, that's how it's done, what are you waiting for? " Alex rolled her eyes.
Silence overtook the group for a second before they all got into motion, rushing to inspect each of the available rooms. Liam stood up, coming over to where I was standing, looking into my room, seeming to approve of my choice.
" Nice place.”
" Have you seen yours? " I indicated the closed door next to mine.
All right, we had visited the house quickly with the realtor, but we didn't get to know the place properly, since it was all dark and scary.
" No, is this it?”
" You chose without even knowing what it was? " I raised both eyebrows as I faced him.
"Well, the master suite is always better than the others, so the choice wasn't difficult " he shrugged, opening the door and turning on the light, finding a large room with an elaborate crystal chandelier on the ceiling and a fireplace in one corner " See, I didn't make a mistake."
" Cool," I smiled back.
A loud whistle caught our attention, and we walked back to the hall, where my father was still waiting with his arms crossed, leaning against the staircase railing.
" Time's up, if you haven't chosen yet, we'll choose for you,” Thomas pointed out.
" I'll take the back room, near the entrance to the Attic,” Christian warned.
" The back room? " I arched my eyebrows, knowing that was the smallest room in the house. Why would he choose that one?
" It has a nice closet and it's the quietest, since it's away from the street and the other houses, when I need to study for exams it will be great " he shrugged.
" Good choice," Addison complimented.
" You didn't want to fight over a bathroom, dear? " Maeve asked with the usual smile on her face.
" Rose got a nice one, I thought it would be a lot simpler if I just shared the bathroom with her,” he shrugged.
I opened my mouth, ready to retort, then closed it, frowning as I realized that this was actually a good idea.
" As long as you don't use my shampoos and moisturizers, I have no problem with that," I agreed.
" Really? What if you're late for class and have to shower? " Cam was surprised.
" Cam, that's easy to solve, they'll shower together. No drama," Sky quipped.
I felt my face heat up a little as I saw my dad raise both eyebrows at that sentence, but just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, my friends decided to act.
" Yeah, the drama comes later, when they realize they were late for taking too long in the shower," Theo quipped.
" Yeah, in that case they'll start arguing, her calling him an asshole and saying it's all his fault, him calling her spoiled and freak while they run around hoping they'll make it on time,” Sky resumed.
" The two of them are going to campus together, still arguing and they're going to end up missing class because in the middle of the argument they decided to stop for a quickie at Brigitte's " Liam concluded, making me widen my eyes and stare at him dumbfounded.
He didn't say that in front of our parents!
Everything got worse when I looked at Christian for defense.
" The worst part is that they're right, this will probably be our first day of class," he shrugged.
" And that's all a father wants to hear," Jack turned to Mr. Van Derr Waal, making my embarrassment grow.
" 'Oh my God, you're awful!”
" Now that we've established that my daughter's mornings are going to be quite hectic, what do you think we should do soon?". " Addison sighed.
" Go where? " I frowned.
" 'To buy everything you'll need to clean this house, dear,” Maeve explained.
" Exactly, I'll get the list in the car, we can go to a department store in Waterfall and get everything we need " Thomas instructed his wife " I'll wait for you outside.”
I watched my father stare at Christian with a serious expression, making me roll my eyes. Okay, he didn't need to know those details, but what can he do?
" Come on Jackson, get over it. They're young and have a spacious car " Alex came out in my defense " Our first date was like that too.”
I widened my eyes at that sentence. It's okay, I didn't need to know that!
" She has a good point. You yourself took full advantage of Brigitte's space, come on, Rose was conceived in the back seat of that car " My mother shrugged, to my utter dismay.
I DEFINITELY DIDN'T NEED TO KNOW THAT!
" All right, maybe that was too much information," Theo grimaced.
" Wow, it looks like someone likes cars," Maeve teased, getting a proud smile from my dad as everyone started down the stairs.
" You have no idea, and it's always amazing," Alex confided to my dismay.
I exchanged a shocked look with my friends, finding it hard to believe that this was happening!
" I'm glad it's amazing for you, it was horrible for me! Really, the only good thing that came out of that experience was Rose," Addison returned.
They're not going to do that to me!
"That's because you were like a sister to me, I couldn't do it right," my father justified himself.
"And you've discovered that you prefer women," Alex added, "and now you get to enjoy good sex in the car.”
I walked down the first steps with a shocked expression at the explicit content of my parents' conversation.
"They've found a great way to get back at you, Rose," Liam teased as we headed downstairs.
"You know Thomas and I have never tried it," Maeve chimed in, much to Liam's dismay, "You guys can give me some pointers.”
" MOM!”
" What is it, darling? Is something wrong? " she turned around with a confused expression.
" I think I'd better get out of here before they decide to ask for motorcycle tips," Christian whispered next to me.
" Please, let's go soon,” I groaned in response, receiving a satisfied look from my father as I passed him.
" Next time you decide to share your sex life with us, remember it can be a two way street, Rose," he winked at me.
