154 - The chapter where Jax regrets it
Christian
" Chris, you heard the dean, he'll probably be expelled... CHRIS! " Rose raised her voice as I stood up, heading for the exit.
" What's his problem?”
" Damn it, Christian, get back here! " I heard Rose call before I got into the elevator that was standing on the floor, not waiting for her to arrive to press the button to close the doors.
I checked the time on my watch, great, it's right on lunch break time, I'll find this bastard and finish him off wherever he is.
Deciding not to waste any time, I got on the bike, driving inside the campus, heading towards the main cafeteria. I stopped the Harley anyway at the entrance to the cafeteria, ignoring the stares I was attracting, I opened the door without a care, looking around for my target. But to my dismay, the son of a bitch was nowhere to be found.
" Chris, what are you doing here? " I heard Sky's voice approaching.
I turned towards her voice, finding her standing next to Theo with a frown as she watched me.
" 'O'Donnel, have you seen him? " I practically growled as I approached them both.
" No man, why?”
" When I find that son of a bitch I'm going to kill him! " I warned, turning away from the two.
" What? What do you mean? " Sky raised his voice as I walked away " Chris, get back here!”
That's when I saw one of the guys, who if I'm not mistaken was part of the team's reserves as a kicker, I approached him unceremoniously.
" Hey, you... Do you Know where O'Donnel is?”
" What?”
" O'Donnel, where is he? " I almost yelled at him, making him cringe.
" He went to lunch at that diner that serves the fried chicken drumsticks " the answer came from someone who was watching the little show I was putting on, I turned around, finding several people staring at me, but I didn't care, as long as I got the information I wanted.
" Chris, what are you going to do? " Sky grabbed my hand, giving me an urgent look.
" 'I'm going to make that bastard regret ever coming to the same college as me,' I warned before letting go of her hand and getting back on the Harley, heading for the exit.
I caught a glimpse of Rose next to her father as I passed the rectory building, but I didn't bother to give any satisfaction about my destination, I continued at high speed to the city center, and it wasn't long before I stopped the Harley in front of the place, spotting the group seated at a table near the entrance of the cafeteria.
I got off the bike, took off my helmet and threw it on the ground anyway, and headed straight for the diner, not looking away from my target. One of his friends saw me first, drawing attention from the others at the table, and soon Jax turned to me, a debauched smile on his face.
" Look who decided to come out of the hole he was hiding in. I thought you weren't going to show up anymore after the little show your girl put on.”
I tried to keep my head on straight, or I'd really end up killing that bastard.
" 'From the way he's looking at you, I think he already knows, O'Donnel,” one of his friends quipped.
Jax merely let out a laugh, casting me a sideways glance before returning his focus to the plate of fries in front of him, making my resolve to calm down fade.
" 'I don't remember meeting anyone as good as his girl,” Jax continued his teasing.
I reached into the pocket of his jacket and pulled out the picture of him with the girl he pretended to be Rose, slamming it down on the table as I placed it next to his plate. His gaze and those of his friends focused on the picture.
" Ohh look, the guy made it up again," one of the boys sneered.
Jax started to sketch a reaction, but before he could turn around, I closed my hand on a handful of hair on the back of his head, pushing it against his plate of fries, hitting it hard enough to knock over everything that was there.
His friends jumped to their feet, surprised by my attitude, and all around us I could hear the shocked reaction of other people, but my attention was fixed on Jax. Still using his hair to control his head, I pulled him back, seeing his stunned look as blood dripped from his probably broken nose. Without giving him a chance to react, I hit him with a punch, causing him to fall to the ground.
" 'I thought I taught you to stay out of my way,” I growled, picking up a wooden meat board that had been used to serve a portion of snacks.
" 'Hey man, drop it,' I heard someone exclaim, but I quickly ignored the request.
"And now I'm going to teach you how to keep my girl's name out of your fucking mouth" I approached the boy who was lying on the floor, trying to get up, still dazed.
Without hesitation I hit him hard in the face with the board, knocking him back to the ground, hearing horrified screams all around us. I was about to hit him one more time when two of the guys who were with him grabbed both my arms, pulling me away. Jax tried to get up again, spitting out one of his teeth along with a good amount of blood.
"Davis, enough, you're going to kill him,” one of the guys holding me exclaimed as I tried to free myself.
"That's not even close to what he deserves. That son of a bitch hurt her for nothing," I yelled trying to get loose.
Jax was writhing on the floor with both hands on his face as he groaned in pain. I kicked one of the chairs in an unsuccessful attempt to hit him once again, being dragged away. It wasn't long before Jack rushed into the restaurant, followed by Sky and Theo.
"What the fuck?" the man exclaimed as he saw the scene while Theo quickly sprang into action, trying to pull me away while one of the waiters from the diner helped Jax, trying to stop his nosebleed with a towel "Davis, that's enough.”
" No, I'm going to…”
" Chris! " Rose's voice cut me off.
I hadn't even noticed her presence before, but she was there, coming towards me with determined steps.
" Let him go " she stopped in front of me.
" 'You're crazy, look what he did!”
" I TOLD YOU TO LET GO! " she shouted.
I felt their grip loosen before they let go of me for good, stepping back a little uncertainty.
" Christian, look at me," Rose ordered as she noticed my gaze focusing on Jax once again.
I looked into her eyes and for the first time since I'd discovered that damn photo, I felt a crack rise in that cloud of anger that had clouded my vision. Rose had a watery look in her eyes and was struggling to keep her voice steady as she looked at me.
" 'That's enough. Do you understand?”
" 'Damn it, Rose,” I muttered, looking away as I noticed the tears starting to stream down my girlfriend's face.
It was never my intention to scare her or make her cry, but... what else could I have done?
It wasn't long before the sound of sirens began to approach, making me realize how much trouble I had gotten myself into. Rose widened her eyes, looking at her father, while my friends seemed desperate to get me out of the situation.
My gaze focused on Jack, who took a deep breath, looking out the window of the restaurant, where a police car had just parked next to my bike.
" Dad... " Rose caught the man's eye, begging for a magical solution.
"Davis, put your hands up and don't show any reaction, do you understand? " the man instructed me.
