156 - The chapter in which Christian gets out of jail
Christian
I was lying in bed, watching the sunset light coming through the small window in the corridor facing the cell I occupied. My cell was the only one occupied in the police station, and that was no surprise. In a town as quiet as Grayfox Mills, it was difficult to see any movement at the police station during the week, when all the university students were busy with their classes.
Everything I wanted. To get on with my classes without having to deal with some asshole who decided to play with my girl! But that asshole made it impossible.
I'd been there for over twenty-four hours, and that had been enough time to calm my mind, at least as far as Jax was concerned. But even though I'd taken a few naps during the day, I couldn't stop imagining how Rose was doing, the look on her face as I was handcuffed never left my mind, and I just wanted the chance to talk to my girlfriend and make sure she was okay.
My biggest concern with everything that had happened was just her. I didn't regret what I'd done to that piece of shit, and if I could go back in time, I'd probably do it again, but in some way that my girlfriend wouldn't be involved.
The sound of motorcycles outside the building made me sigh, knowing that the city was probably coming to life with all the university students excited for a lively weekend before embarking on a week of parties.
And from what the judge said at my bail hearing earlier that day, my plans to visit my aunt and camp at the Grand Canyon were over, at least until the end of that hell. The sound of footsteps approaching from the hallway made me raise my head, expecting to see Alex there. She had guaranteed that she would get the money and post bail by the end of the day.
"Davis, you can stand up, you're free to go "one of the officers unlocked the cell.
I let out a long sigh of relief before standing up and following him down the corridor towards the stairs that would take us down to the first floor, where the police station's reception was.
"You've got quite a reception waiting for you, I hope I don't see you around here again "the man, who must have been in his fifties, watched me out of the corner of his eye as he walked "the next time you defend your girl, don't do it in front of so many witnesses.
"I'll remember that," I assured him, hiding a small smile.
I couldn't say that I'd been treated badly by anyone there, especially after I'd given my statement and they'd discovered the reason for the assault, but they still had to do their duty. As I made my way to the front desk of the police station, I thought about everything I had to do. To begin with, I had to call my sister and let her know that I wouldn't be able to go to the weekend event and tell her the exact reason for my involuntary change of plans.
It was going to be a long phone call!
I stopped my steps when I reached the end of the corridor that led to the police station's entrance hall, my eyes immediately drawn to the couple wearing leather jackets and heavy boots who were waiting with a serious expression next to Alex, Jack and Addison.
What are they doing here?
"Mom, Dad? "I stammered.
"Chris, I knew that one day I'd get a call to get you out of jail "my mother raised both eyebrows.
I approached them, a little unsure of how to act. They must be furious, why aren't they shouting or throwing things at me?
"How did you know?
"Your girl called yesterday and told us that you got into trouble defending her. "My mother explained.
"I hope you did a lot of damage to that son of a bitch's face "a half-smile appeared on my father's face, surprising me.
Are they really proud that I was arrested?
"Davis, remember what I told you "the guard who escorted me there caught my eye.
I nodded in understanding, turning to my parents.
"What did he tell you? "Abe wanted to know.
"Next time choose a place with fewer witnesses to hit someone in the face with a board "I shrugged, heading for the door.
"That's great advice. And since you're not going to pay me for the defense, I suggest you follow it "Alex joked "You too, Addison.
"Hey, my witnesses are great. And Davis, guess what, we can schedule our anger management therapy together like a real family, isn't that exciting?
"I must say, that's a great way to meet your mother-in-law," my mother quipped.
I felt lighter every second in the company of my family, the only person I was missing at that moment was Rose. Of all people, I thought the first one I would see when I left that place would be her, and her absence seemed like a bad sign considering everything that had happened.
"I don't know if...
My sentence was interrupted when my father opened the double door of the police station, revealing the street bustling with the early Friday evening. The town always came alive on Friday nights, but today, in addition to the excited university students, the front of the police station was filled with motorcycles. I recognized some members of the motorcycle club, others, I wasn't sure who they were, but they all seemed excited to see me leave the police station, but I didn't have time to waste paying attention to anything other than Rose, who was leaning against my Harley. She was wearing tight black pants and a leather motorcycle club jacket with her name embroidered on the chest.
As soon as she saw me, she rushed towards me, making a move to wrap her legs around my waist, trapping me in a demanding kiss. I rested one hand on her ass while the other went to the nape of her neck, closing in on a handful of her loose hair as my tongue danced with hers, feeling the tips of her nails on my shoulders.
I returned the kiss with impetus, not wanting to move away from her for a second, and even when she turned her face away in search of air, my lips rushed to her neck, nibbling the sensitive skin, receiving a sigh in return as I heard everyone around us cheering and applauding the reunion.
"Okay, this is a great reunion moment, but you haven't spent that long apart "Jack muttered disgruntledly "Davis, put her down, she can walk.
Rose rolled her eyes, jumping to the floor before stretching out to give me another kiss.
"I've missed you so much," she smiled, her lips inches from mine.
"Here, you need this "Amber approached, making me aware of her presence.
She helped me put on a new motorcycle club jacket, with my name embroidered on it and on the back, just below the big Falcon that adorned everyone's jacket, was written "Grayfox Mills Wandering Falcons "NY". Rose turned around, showing the jacket that matched mine.
"From now on, you're no longer an honorary member," Amber explained.
I turned to my father for confirmation, knowing how strict he was about the rule that you can't be an official member of the motorcycle club unless you live in the same city as the headquarters or a branch.
"Are you serious? "I arched both eyebrows.
"I think everyone agrees that you two deserve it." A shadow of a smile appeared on my father's lips.
Still unable to believe what had just happened, I turned to Rose, bringing my hand to the back of her neck, pulling her in for another kiss, which she didn't hesitate to reciprocate.
"I'm not going to buy anyone a motorcycle, I'm telling you," Jack muttered, not looking very happy about the situation.
""I'll buy one for you if you help me," Addison proposed, receiving a cross look from the man.
"You had to support me "he complained, starting a small argument with the mother of his daughter.
I took advantage of their distraction and slung my arm around my girlfriend's shoulder, leading her towards the Harley.
"Shall we?
I grabbed the helmet that was hanging from the handlebars of the bike, putting it on while Rose did the same with hers on the back. I felt my girlfriend's hands crawl up my abdomen as she wrapped me in a hug to hold onto the bike.
My father got on his bike, and my mother got on the back, and at his command, all the bikes started to leave, and to my surprise, Addison was on one of them, hugging the waist of a man I couldn't quite identify.
"Was that your mother? "I asked, setting us in motion.
"She's decided to get over her platonic crush on your sister and get herself a biker girlfriend, in fact, the price of my own bike will help her with that "Rose scoffed as I followed all the other bikes.
"Passion for my sister? "I was surprised by that information.
"It's a long story "I felt her nails climbing up my abdomen, making me want to get home soon.
That's when I noticed everyone changing direction, making me frown. I thought they'd follow me home and then go on their way.
"Just go with the flow, Davis -"Rose instructed me.
"But...
"Don't argue with me.
I let out a small laugh, following everyone, feeling curious to know what else they were planning.
