159 - The final chapter

"Did you hear Liam's speech? "Rose asked.
I turned my head to the side to watch her, she was sitting on the floor next to the bed, wearing only my boxer shorts while drawing on a pad. No one had come home yet and we were enjoying the silence.
I felt exhausted after everything that had happened over the last few days, I couldn't believe that this nightmare had finally come to an end. After getting home and taking a long shower with Rose, the only thing I could do was lie down and stare at the ceiling in my room, imagining how everything would happen from then on.
"Could you not hear? "I sneered.
"Do you think he was serious about his vision of the future? "she turned her face to look at me.
"I don't know, maybe. But...
I kept quiet, wondering what exactly I was going to say. Because more and more the whole scenario he described came to life in my mind, and every second I found it more enjoyable.
"But?
"New Orleans is a nice city. We could live near each other and... I can see you owning a gallery," I commented.
Rose put the drawing aside and climbed onto the bed, partially on top of me, resting her chin on my chest to look into my eyes.
"Really? And you see yourself in a secret laboratory?
"I think it would be easier to get a pharmacist or something," I frowned, looking up at the white ceiling.
"And are we still going to be together? "Rose laid her head on my chest, and I hugged her, stroking her arm.
"Of course, I'm going to propose to you at our graduation," I let out without thinking.
Rose raised her face, looking surprised by this information.
"Are you planning to propose? What else are you planning?
I thought for a second about what our lives would be like in a few years' time, and one thing I knew for sure was that I wanted them all in my life.
"We could follow Liam to New Orleans, get a nice house there, we could all be neighbors. We'd have a small wedding, you know, something simple in the backyard...
"I like your plans, Davis. You could get married in a leather jacket," she added.
"I can wear a leather jacket, but I'm hoping to see you in white, Campbell," I looked at her with a smile.
"Do you expect a traditional bride? "she raised both eyebrows.
""I didn't say that, but it would be nice if you wore white," I shrugged, returning my gaze to the ceiling.
"I can do that," she agreed.
We were silent for a few minutes, and then Rose spoke again, not looking at me directly.
"Are you thinking of having children? I mean, you were terrified when I thought I was pregnant.
"I'm not against children, I was just terrified because it wasn't the right time, but... It could happen in the future, right?
"Will we be good parents?
"No, we'll traumatize them on every level, we'll certainly spend a lot of money on therapy," I said with a half-smile.
"Therapy for them or for both of us? "she said back in an amused tone.
"So it'll be tons of money, everyone will end up in therapy, even the dog!
That sentence made her laugh, and Rose started making circles with the tip of her fingernail on my abdomen, giving me goose bumps.
"What do you think it will be like from now on? This was only our first year and so many things have already happened "she whispered after a few minutes in silence, just enjoying each other's company.
"I don't know, but I do know that I can't wait to spend the next few years by your side.
