17.The chapter in which Sky meets Harry
Christian
My gaze returned to Sky, who was now playing with a ring on her finger, avoiding raising her face to face either of them.
" My friends and I are alone today, what do you say we get the groups together? " she suggested, pointing to the same girls as before who were waiting nearby.
Alicia was watching us expectantly, and from the look on Rose's face she was about to make up some excuse and leave, and I decided to help her with that.
" Actually, I have to introduce someone to Skyller, so we were just leaving, right, Baker? " I slung my arm around her shoulder, drawing her attention.
" Let's stop wasting time then, Christian promised to teach me how to ride his Harley later," Rose stood beside me, wrapping her arm around me to pull us away from the group.
Liam looked about to protest, but before he could say anything, Theo joined us.
" I'll come along to supervise everything, see you later," he nodded to both of them.
We walked together for a few meters in a heavy atmosphere until I decided to try to lighten the tension a bit.
" You don't think I'm going to let you ride my bike," I warned Rose.
" You can even try to deny it, Davis. But I'll convince you," she hummed.
" That's not going to happen," I returned.
" I didn't know you had a motorcycle," Theo chimed in.
" He has an amazing Harley, and I'm dying for him to teach me how to ride it.”
Rose let go of my arm, going to snuggle up to the boy, who didn't hesitate to put his arm around her shoulder in a natural action. I observed the similar situation I was in with Sky, who, to my surprise, had not complained for a single second about this closeness, in fact, her expression was so desolate that it worried me for a few seconds.
Is Van Der Waal really that blind?
" A Harley? Are you serious?”
" My grandparents are founding members of a motorcycle club in Missoula, so when I turned sixteen and got my license all the members helped me to choose a good motorcycle," I told him.
That story caught Sky's attention, who seemed to have snapped out of his daze.
" Are you a member of a motorcycle club?”
" No, my family is, but I have to live in Missoula and be over twenty-one to become a member. Right now, I'm an honorary member when I visit my parents," I explained.
" You are full of surprises, Davis. I never would have guessed," Theo scoffed.
" Theo, I know you hitched a ride with me, but I think I'm going to head back home," Sky caught our attention, pulling away from me, starting to walk away.
I reached for her hand, pulling her back to our group, not allowing her to pull away completely.
" No, I meant it when I said that a friend wants to meet you. " I insisted.
" I'm not in the mood to meet anyone, Christian.”
I wasn't going to insist, I didn't know her well enough to act that way, but Rose took my place.
" So what's your plan? Go home and cry because Liam acted like an idiot? That's a dead end, Sky, because Liam will never stop acting like an idiot, unless you tell him how you feel.”
I think Liam is the only blind one who doesn't realize the way Skyller acts towards him.
" I don't know…”
" Sky, come on. We don't lie to each other. Nobody here is blind enough not to realize what is going on," Theo interrupted her.
" I've known you for like five days and I already realize what's going on," I endorsed.
Sky alternated her gaze between us before sighing, giving up.
" And what do you expect me to do? Liam and I are from different universes, it wouldn't work!”
" Then let's go meet Chris's friend, you don't have to spend the night with the guy, just talk to him.” Rose insisted.
" Exactly, Harry is a good guy, no need to worry," I confirmed, "and he has a British accent that the girls love.”
We walked back together through the festival, joking about what had happened, taking advantage of the fact that Skyller seemed a little lighter about everything.
"Also, the guy can be a comfort to you. Everyone knows that after being dumped, it's always nice to have someone to console you. I could offer, but you are like a sister to me, that would be disgusting," Theo concluded, drawing giggles from the girls.
" Theo, that was cute and stupid at the same time," Rose teased the boy, who still had his arm around her shoulder.
Theo glared at her, giving her a sideways smile before teasing her.
" Rose, I don't know you well enough to consider you my sister, if you need anything…”
" Oh my God, you're terrible," Rose pushed him away, drawing laughter from the rest of the group.
We followed this line of teasing until I spotted Harry with a group of friends, his face lit up when he saw Skyller standing next to me, and I hoped it was good for her. The girl deserved to have some fun.
" Davis, I thought you had given up coming," he greeted me as I approached the group.
Harry was accompanied by two other guys and a girl I had seen in some classes. I greeted them all, not bothering to introduce myself.
" No, I was just late because I had to give someone a ride," I returned, receiving a cross look from Rose.
" If you didn't want to give me a ride, just let me come with Brigitte," she returned.
" I wouldn't miss the chance to upset you," I smiled at Rose, causing her to roll her eyes.
I know I shouldn't tease her when she had a possible projectile in her hand, that would prove to be a big mistake for me, but I couldn't resist. I loved the feeling of irritating her every second, her angry glance at me made me feel alive and every time she fought back, a rush of adrenaline coursed through my body.
" Why don't you just introduce us, Davis?”
" Harry, this is Skyller Baker, our golden girl," I winked at her, watching her face flush, "Theo Peterson, and that's Rose, the bitch in room 55A.”
Theo's eyes widened and Sky choked up next to me, while the rest of the group just exchanged curious glances with each other, seeming to find this interaction strange. Rose, however, gave me a petulant look and then smiled.
" Since I'm hitchhiking, who wants to get drunk and dance on a table?”
" Rose! " Sky stared at her dumbfounded.
One of the guys who was with Harry was the first to accept, smiling broadly.
" I don't see a problem with that. Taylor Ashford " he introduced himself " Harry, see you later.”
" Sky, you have my number if you need anything," Theo declared unceremoniously, stepping aside to give the two of them a little privacy, not giving her the chance to deny it.
I approached Rose, as the group headed towards a drinks stand. She didn't look at me, but that didn't stop her from speaking up about what had happened.
" I'm going to make you pay for this, Davis," she declared with a small smile.
" That I very much doubt will happen, Rose.”
