Chapter 50 A Wish Come True
Epilogue - A Wish Come True
Aderyn sighed as she made her way through the thick forest.
It was lush and green at this time of the year, a beautiful, warming sight. But her favorite was still the icy beauty of winter. The glittering snow would coat the trees in a breathtaking white and the world would wait for the coming of spring with a gentle stillness. The lush warmth that surrounded her had been comforting as a child but now she viewed the world a little differently.
She was biased, but a mother always was.
Aderyn held back tears as she approached the lake. Previously she had only come here in winter when the teeming forest life lay sleeping and the surface was covered in a layer of ice.
It was Kari’s favorite place to be and he would always lose track of time. So, she would come out and just watch with pride as her son skated across the ice or built giant fortresses for him and the other children to play in before calling them all back to the village as the sun set.
Now, she found solace from her heartbreak at his most treasured place.
It had been many moons since she had last heard from him and she feared the worst. He had run off to join the army, her bright little omega that just wanted to help in any way he could. As much as she disapproved, there was no talking him out of it. His ice would certainly make a formidable weapon but she strongly believed that was not why Yhieris gave such a gift to him.
Yhieris’ gifts were given to help and heal, not to wreck and destroy.
But then, sometimes those actions were just different sides of the same coin.
Aderyn sank to her knees at the water’s edge and closed her eyes to send off another heartfelt payer to her son’s deity. She had given many over the years.
Please Yhieris, just see him safe. You need not bring him back to me, but please, please see him safe.
The rest of the village believed him dead but she would hold out hope for as long as she still had breath.
Kari possessed a strong gift. He was given to the world for a reason and he was not one to stop fighting. She smiled as she thought of his stubborn attitude and determination. He was exactly like she had been when she was a girl. He would need that fire to see through whatever path Yhieris set him on.
She had always known the sleepy village they lived in would never be Kari’s home once he has grown. One with such a gift would be needed elsewhere in the world and that was why she never asked Yhieris to bring him home. Most likely, only his ashes would return to this place.
Aderyn opened her eyes to stare at her reflection in the water and gasped as the image changed before her eyes. Tears streamed down her face as she brought her hands to cover her mouth.
Reflected in the water was a large bed with many rich-looking blankets and nestled in the middle was her son.
Her Kari.
His skin glowed with health and his gorgeous Daiyan tattoo was nearly twice the size from when she had last seen it. It was magnificent. Metallic silver snowflakes seemed to dance in a blizzard across his wrist and the swirls had moved now towards around his wrist. It surrounded his wrist like a bracelet would.
What caught her attention the most was the claiming mark set across his neck and shoulder. Her baby had found a mate and clearly one that could provide for him, judging by the luxurious bedding that surrounded him.
She was still drinking in her only son’s form when a huge alpha came into her view. She briefly caught sight of the claiming mark visible on him as he gently pulled a sleepy Kari into his arms and settled down after kissing his son's forehead and nose lovingly.
Tears threatened to blur her vision as she watched her son snuggle up contently against the other man.
“Oh, Yhieris,” Aderyn whispered. “Thank you.”
She had no doubts that was who had gifted her with such a priceless treasure.
Kari was alive and well. More than well, he had found a mate and seemed happy and healthy. A peace she had not known for a long time settled through her.
Standing, she brushed off her long dress and strode back towards the village. She needed to tell her husband what she had been shown. Aderyn was sure it would also bring him peace to know of his son’s wellness.
She had no doubts that the future would hold a lot of challenges for her gifted son, but with Yhieris watching over him and a mate to support him, she knew he would be fine.
The End
