#11 - Peter Changed

The meal was enjoyed by all, and even though there was only one extra person, the liveliness doubled. During the meal, Gwen even performed her drum set skills. Yang Le didn't understand music, but he knew she was drumming with great energy.

"Do you really not need me to give you a ride?" George asked, looking at Yang Le, who was standing at the door putting on his coat. Ever since he learned that this young man supported the same baseball team as him, George had grown fond of him.

"No need, Uncle George," Yang Le politely declined. "It's not too late yet, and if the neighbors see me getting out of a police car, they might misunderstand."

"Welcome to come again, Habie."

"Next time, I'll cook a table full of delicious dishes."

Ben and May looked at Yang Le kindly. Yang Le admired May's cooking skills and ate many plates, which made her very happy.

"Bye-bye, Habie."

"See you next time."

Gwen and Peter also said goodbye.

"I really like the drumsticks you gave me. When is your birthday? Peter and I will also give you a great gift," Gwen said, pulling Peter aside. Peter nodded repeatedly.

"Uh, drumsticks?" George, who was standing nearby, turned dark when he heard Gwen's words. He didn't like this young man as much anymore.

"January 15th, I look forward to your gifts." Yang Le felt strange seeing George's face suddenly darken, but he didn't think too much about it.

After saying goodbye to everyone, Yang Le didn't rush home after leaving Peter's house, but instead went on his routine patrol.

However, possibly due to the destruction caused by that terrifying incident, which led to the New York police strengthening their patrols, New York has been unusually quiet recently.

"Hopefully, this isn't the calm before the storm."

Time flies, and Gwen and Peter have already started their high school lives.

Even when busy, Gwen and Peter would meet with Yang Le every week at the fast-food restaurant where they first met, sharing their experiences.

"So, Peter, you fought with that Flash," Yang Le said, looking at Peter's bruised face.

"That's right." Peter's face was black and blue, but Yang Le could still see pride on his face. "Habie, you're right. The best way to deal with these campus bullying softies is to resist."

"You won?"

"Peter won, but he was injured much more severely than Flash," Gwen interjected before Peter could speak.

"Tell me more, how did you win?" This piqued Yang Le's curiosity. Flash Thompson is a classic character in Spider-Man comics, a football player, and basically every version of Peter has been bullied by him.

Yang Le was very curious to know how Peter won despite the large difference in size.

"I summarized your fighting experience," Peter puffed out his chest. Because of the injuries on his face, Peter's smile looked more like a cry. "I first provoked Flash, and then I kicked his balls hard. Although he reacted and I didn't kick him solidly, he was still injured."

"Then, when he pinned me to the ground and wanted to beat me, I bit his hand. No matter how he hit me, I didn't let go until he cried and begged for mercy before I let him go."

Peter was very excited. This was the first fight he had won since he was a child, and he won even with such a large difference in size.

"Although Aunt May scolded me, Uncle Ben praised me for doing well and secretly bought me a new game. Now, no one in school is looking for trouble with me, and some people have given me a nickname, Werewolf Peter."

Gwen looked at Peter beside her with relief. This thin boy was changing, and the source of all this came from Yang Le, who he was currently pestering.

Yang Le might not know, but Gwen could see that Peter admired Yang Le very much. A few months ago, Yang Le had descended like a god and rescued them from the hands of the gangster Larry.

Larry could be said to be Peter's nightmare, as he was always looking for trouble with Peter, but Yang Le easily beat them until they ran away with their tails between their legs.

Yang Le was slowly changing Peter, something Gwen had not been able to do.

Suddenly, Peter seemed to see something. He, who had been talking non-stop, stopped as if his throat was stuck.

"What's wrong? Peter?" Yang Le felt strange seeing Peter suddenly silent. He turned his head and saw a beautiful girl with long red hair.

"Are you Gwen Stacy?" The red-haired girl looked at Gwen and asked directly.

"I am, who are you?" Gwen looked at the girl in confusion.

"Mary, Mary Jane Watson, you can call me Mary Jane." The girl flicked her hair, generously showing her charm. "I want to start a band. I heard that you are a good drummer. I don't know if you are interested."

"Band!?" Gwen suddenly became excited, just like Peter just now.

"We now have a guitarist, bassist, and keyboardist." Mary Jane held out her hand, retracting a finger each time she said a position. "Now we just need a drummer. I don't know if you are interested."

"Of course!" Gwen loves music, but she rarely finds like-minded friends. Now that an opportunity is in front of her, the girl will not let it go.

"Then tomorrow, in the school auditorium, I borrowed it. Let's make it clear that you have to conquer everyone in the band first, otherwise we won't let you join."

"I couldn't ask for more!" Gwen had no fear.

Mary Jane was noncommittal, shrugged, and left after confirming the time with Gwen.

"Then, you two, please help me move the drum set tomorrow," Gwen looked at Yang Le expectantly.

Being looked at by Gwen's watery eyes, Yang Le immediately raised his hands in surrender.

Looking at Peter again, he found that his face had turned red, almost covering his facial injuries.

"What's wrong, Peter? Did your internal injuries relapse?" Yang Le saw what Peter was thinking and deliberately teased him.

"No, Habie, I just..." Just now, the injuries on his face didn't stop Peter from talking non-stop, but now he became incoherent.

"That girl, is really beautiful, isn't she." After a lot of effort, Peter finally said this sentence. It can be seen that Peter has indeed changed. He would not have had the courage to say it before.

"Whoa~" Yang Le whistled. "It seems that our werewolf Peter has met his moon and can't help but 'become beastly'."

"Please, Habie, don't say that," Peter was so ashamed that he wanted to bury himself in the table.

"That's perfect." Gwen slammed the table, attracting the attention of the two men. "You help me move the drum set, so Peter can see his moon again. Okay, it's decided."

Ignoring Peter's soft "Why do you say that too..." Gwen waved her hand and made a direct decision.

"OK, whatever you say, boss." Yang Le raised his hands and gave a French military salute.
