#30 - The Assassination of George Stacy

“I’ve heard of him,” the assassin said, picking up the photo from the table. “Heard he has some abilities.”

“But he’s using his abilities in the wrong places. He’s overreaching. The ‘gentleman’ is not pleased, so I need you to eliminate him.”

Matt remained expressionless, speaking of killing a police officer as if it were a trivial matter.

“The ‘gentleman’ is never patient with such trifles. You have only three days to complete the task.”

“Yes, sir,” the assassin replied, taking the photo and bowing as he exited the room.

“Good afternoon! Chief George, looks like you’ll make it home for dinner tonight.”

“Good afternoon, Mrs. Morsy.” George removed his hat, looking respectfully at the old woman before him.

“Peaceful New York gave me a break today. Gwen has been complaining lately. If I missed dinner again tonight, I don't know what she would have said.”

“Gwen is a good child. She always cares about you. I’m sorry, but since Helen passed, you two haven’t seemed like a family at all,” Mrs. Morsy said, her tone reproachful, but then softening.

“But recently, your relationship has gotten better and better. Even an outsider like me can see it. Families shouldn't treat each other like enemies.”

“Thank you for your concern, Mrs. Morsy.” Mrs. Morsy was known for being blunt, but she was also kind-hearted. Almost everyone in the building had received her help. Facing such a caring elder, George accepted her concern, even though the topic was sensitive.

“Who are you! How dare you attack a police chief!” George drew his gun and turned to face the assassin. The brush with death made him sweat profusely. He forced himself to calm down.

Now he could see the attacker's full appearance. The person was dressed almost exactly like a Japanese ninja in the movies.

‘What is going on? High-tech prisoners, rhino monsters, and now a ninja assassin. When did New York become so crazy?’

Facing the dark gun muzzle, the ninja remained silent, instead bending down to pick up the ninja blade from the floor.

“Don’t move! I’ll shoot if you move again!” Seeing the ninja’s actions, George immediately warned.

Hearing George's warning, the ninja paused, not moving again. Just as George was about to speak again, the ninja moved the instant George opened his mouth.

The ninja hooked the ninja blade with his left foot and stomped down hard with his right foot, bringing out the ninja blade while rushing forward. The flying ninja blade drew an arc, spinning into the air, landing perfectly in the ninja’s raised hands. Catching the ninja blade, the ninja rushed in front of George and slashed down hard, cutting off half of George’s hand along with the gun barrel.

Lightning fast! It all happened too quickly. He only reacted to the sound of the gun barrel hitting the ground. He stared blankly at the gun sliding from his hand because he couldn't grip it. The ninja blade was too sharp. He hadn't even felt the pain yet. His hand had only just begun to bleed.

Fear to the extreme turns into anger. The fear of death made George lose his composure. He shouted and charged at the ninja.

The ninja didn't clash head-on with George. Although the ninja blade was sharp, it was easily broken. Facing the charging George, he wasn't sure he could kill him without breaking the blade.

The ninja threw out several caltrops. The modified and lengthened caltrops pierced the soles of his shoes, piercing into the soles of his feet. The intense pain made George lose his balance, falling forward with the momentum of his charge.

The ninja stepped aside, and George fell right beside him. He walked over, stepped on George's arms with both feet, straddled George's back, and raised the ninja blade high in a reverse grip.

‘Sorry, Gwen, looks like Dad won’t be able to have dinner with you.’ George thought despairingly. The intense exercise had caused his severed hand wound to bleed profusely. He no longer had the strength to resist.

Just as the ninja was about to stab George, the sound of shattering glass came from behind him. Before he could react, intense pain came from his back, and the ninja flew out, smashing into the tables and chairs, falling to the ground.
