#59 - Harry and Norman

Harry was in a good mood, as could be seen from his light steps and the little tune he was humming.

"Looks like you had a good day."

Harry, who had just pushed the door open to return home, was startled by this sudden greeting. He took a closer look and found that it was his father, Norman Osborn.

At this moment, he was holding a cup of coffee, watching Harry who had just entered.

"Oh, Dad, I didn't expect you to be home at this hour." Harry looked at Norman nervously.

Norman had always disliked his frivolous side, and his elated appearance just now had been caught by him, so he might be in for a lecture.

"There's nothing important at the company today, so I came back early." Norman took a sip of coffee. "You haven't answered me yet, what made you so happy?"

"Uh, it's Peter. I went to visit Peter with my friends, and we had a great time chatting." Harry explained.

Norman frowned and said, "Peter is in the hospital? Why didn't you tell me?"

"We haven't spoken for three or four days, Dad." Saying this, Harry lowered his head in disappointment.

Norman was stunned, thought for a moment, and realized that it was indeed the case. Coming home late and leaving early, or not even coming home at all, he really hadn't spoken to his son for several days.

"Sorry, Harry, Dad has been too busy lately." Norman put the coffee on the nearby table, walked to Harry's side, and put his hand on his shoulder.

"How about this, Dad will pay, and you invite your friends to go to the amusement park, okay?"

'If only you could come with us too.'

Harry thought in his heart, but didn't show it. Instead, he happily said, "Sounds great."

"Then it's settled." Norman took out his wallet, took out a card from it, and handed it to Harry.

"You should know the password, I don't need to tell you again. Have fun with your friends."

"Thanks, Dad." Harry took the credit card. "By the way, do you want to have dinner together later?"

Norman looked a little expectant and asked, "Oh? That's a great idea, what are we having for dinner? Are we eating out?"

"I've learned a few tricks from my friends recently, why don't I cook dinner."

Harry made a Chinese stir-fry gesture, looking confident.

"Really? Then I'm looking forward to it." Norman said with a smile.

Harry hummed a cheerful tune, placing the sumptuous dinner on the table. Some of the dishes on the table were learned from Yang Le, some from Mary Jane and Gwen, and even Peter had taught him a few tricks.

Since Yang Le moved to his current apartment, these friends of theirs basically gathered there whenever they had free time, and of course, they took care of the meals themselves.

Sometimes Yang Le cooked, sometimes Mary Jane and Gwen. Because Harry couldn't cook at first, everyone didn't let him do it, and Harry was happy to do so. But then Harry discovered that Peter could also cook, and he couldn't sit still anymore.

At first, Harry thought Peter was like him, never lifting a finger in the kitchen, but he didn't expect Peter to be able to cook some simple dishes, said to be learned from Aunt May.

Now Harry was upset. If he had an accomplice, he could continue to be lazy, but after discovering that he was the only one eating for free, he also began to learn from everyone.

Looking at the table full of sumptuous dinner, Harry proudly wiped his nose. Today was the first time he was showing off his skills in front of his father, and he was determined to give him a big surprise.

He glanced at the time on his watch, not too early, not too late, just right. Next, he just needed to call his father for dinner.

"Dad!" Harry called out in the direction of Norman's study. After waiting for a while and receiving no response, he started walking towards the study.

"Knock, knock, knock!"

Harry knocked on the study door.

"Dinner is ready, Dad."

Harry waited for a while and still received no response, so he opened the study door and found it empty.

Not in the study, could he be in the lab?

Harry scratched his head, closed the study door, and headed towards the lab.

Then it was no wonder, the lab had better soundproofing, no wonder Dad didn't hear him calling.

Arriving in front of a special door, all the doors in the house were wooden, except for the metal door in front of him.

This time, Harry didn't knock. He entered the password, waited for the door to unlock, and walked in.

Entering the lab, he saw Norman wearing protective clothing and busy at the experiment table.

"Dad, dinner is ready." Seeing this, Harry didn't go forward, but stood at the door and called out to Norman.

Norman was startled by the sudden sound, and accidentally added a little too much to the reagent he was preparing.

Norman immediately broke out in a cold sweat and froze in place until he found that the reagent was not abnormal, then he breathed a sigh of relief, put the reagent on the shelf, and looked back at Harry.

I remember I said to knock before coming in!

Norman's expression was serious, his tone was harsh, as if he had returned to the most common appearance in Harry's memory.

"I, I knocked, but you didn't hear me." Harry looked at Norman nervously. He wasn't lying, he did knock, but he didn't knock on the lab door.

"I saw that you didn't respond, and I was worried about you, so I came in directly."

"I'm fine, then, is there anything else?" Norman still had a cold face.

"I made dinner, we agreed to eat together, do you remember?"

Harry became obedient again, lowering his head and reminding him in a low voice.

Norman was stunned, remembered the agreement just now, and saw his son's obedient appearance, and sighed helplessly.

"You go eat first, I still have some work to do, don't wait for me."

After speaking, he didn't look at Harry, turned around and continued to work on his experiment.

Harry didn't move, still standing in place with his head lowered.

"What's wrong? Is there anything else?" Norman waited for a while, didn't hear the sound of the lab door, turned his head and found Harry was still standing there.

"We agreed before." Harry said in a low voice.

Norman frowned upon hearing this, but didn't speak.

"You're always like this, making agreements with me, but never keeping them. Now I just want to have dinner together, and I can't even do that? I don't even know if I'm your son!"

Harry became more and more excited as he spoke, his tone constantly rising, and finally he even roared.

"If you weren't my son, you wouldn't even be qualified to talk to me here." Facing Harry's anger, Norman was very calm.

"You are surrounded by some excellent people, why can't you learn something from them."

'It's like this again.' Harry thought resentfully. 'It ends in a quarrel again.'

Norman continued to lecture Harry, but his ears heard an unusual noise, the source of which came from behind him.

Looking back, he found that the reagent he had placed on the shelf was constantly boiling, and some foam had already poured out of the test tube.

"Run, Harry!"

Norman shouted and rushed towards Harry.

Harry looked up and only saw his father rushing towards him, and the green smoke exploding behind him.

After that, he lost consciousness.
