Chapter 10 Dark Powers

Liliana Roslyn's POV.

Anne's story rise up questions in my mind. Why would commander Lucas do all he did for her? Taking care of her, ensuring her safety and all. No wonder she's of more beauty than I've ever seen any other slave. I've also notice that she's the only human who has almost healed, probably due to the sparkling in the blood she receiving and she's the only one taking sparkling blood.

My brain flash back to the referendarius, I mean.. Commander Lucas said that he's still going to continue his conversation with me. I'll ask him all the questions since king Adrian's isn't going to answer me. Commander Lucas should.

Jeez! What the hell did I eat today? I'm still amaze by this confidence.

Anne sniffle as she wipe her tears, running my train of thought to an accident and calling me back to earth. I feel sorry for her. She has lost a lot to even want to continue life's journey. I'd say.. She's strong. Extremely strong woman.

"Lil, it was until you came that I finally feel the burden wear off. Thanks for that, you saved me." She says and I smile back at her.

We almost got lost to another marathon of silence when Anne snickers lightly.

"Do you remember anything from yesterday?" Anne ask and I nod my head in uncertainty. What could she possibly mean?.. Shit! Maybe it's about how I found myself half-naked. Oh shoot! Has king Adrian done something to me yesterday? And maybe she knows about it.

In a new interest, I focus on this new  topic of ours.

"What happened?" I ask as anticipation encloses me more than I expect.

"You didn't remember the funny yet deadly stunt you pulled." She ask again and this time.. I'm lost completely.

"Hey, you're scaring me."

"Okay let's start again. Um.. Did you remember taking any strong liquor?" She says. While I was getting worried, I could tell she's trying really hard to contain her laughter.

"Anne will you just please go straight to the..." I stop mid sentence when the doctor come near us.

"Anne, your vitals is getting better." The doctor says. Mack, his name should be. Well I see it from the badge on his left chest.

"Thanks Mack." Anne replies and in the process concreting my guessing and my observation of- Mack is a human doctor.

"I'll be nearby. Incase you need me please press that button." He says,  pointing to a button near the bedside and Anne nods at him.

When Mack disappear from the room, Anne continue. "Em.. Yesterday midnight, king Adrian sent his guard to bring me to his room and when I got there, I saw you acting craziness. King Adrian discover that you took alcohol from his bar, when I told him that I didn't mixed anything in your drink. He ordered that I change your clothes since its all filled with your vomit but you didn't oblige then you enter into the closet, and change into king Adrian's shirt. To my surprise king Adrian didn't say anything, all he did was smile. Which.. " She says (which) with a unbelievable tone. "Has never happened before. No king's emit has ever done what you did. To top it all up. He healed you when you fell over your feet and slam your head on the side table." She says.

All my brain holds in everything she has told me is that king Adrian healed me. I once remember Mrs Rogue teaching us something about the royals. That they can heal but I never knew king Adrian could heal human too. I thought it was only benders, his race.

Suddenly my brain flash back to my flawless skin, no bruises or marks, and the stomach full thing. No hunger and this sudden confidence. Its all his healing effect.

Deep down in me, I feel happy down to my core. King Adrian care for us. My subconscious adds but my conscious reject it. I'm unstable.

"Hey!" Anne calls, waving her free hand in my face's direction. "You seem lost."

"What? Um.. It's nothing." I lie. "Just.. I can't believe I did all that." I wonder why king Adrian isn't angry at me.

To move the subject from me. I say. "You still haven't tell me what happened" I almost regret asking another question that will most likely turn to another sad moment, but as a friend I need to know. Right?!

"The guards came over this morning to take our blood, as always though. They take it every 2 day, in mornings but except me. My blood only feed commander Lucas. One of the guard break commander Lucas' rule and he punish me and then drain my blood forcefully." She explain.

"This things are monsters." I whisper lightly.

Anne's had enough. The bender that did this things to her should be punished. Its just that the world's way of life has change.

King Adrian's POV.

It's been hours since Felix and I sit here, waiting for Lucas to awake since his bivatar powers are starting to kick in. Lorenzo on the other side, being the luxurious and lifeful man he is, has gone out to check out London's fascinating areas and have fun as he calls it.

During those past hours, 5 hours, 28 minutes and 39 seconds to be exact. I've been entering Lucas mind to know if he's still got anything to tell me but its all blank. Just hazy thoughts and not to lie, I love seeing him in this way even though its caused by an attack on him. At least he's free from his past.

Worst part of this hours is that I'ven't seen Liliana since she went to the slave quarters. I didn't want her to see the scene, somehow I can tell it terrifies her - Lucas draining me. Fulgencio has been mind linking me each and every minutes, telling me that Ana is safe and she's currently talking with Anne. Leave it to my emit to blend in. Ever since I saw her in that stairway, I knew she's different and her stunning, elegant, feisty and attractive attitude compliment it. I'm intoxicated by her, my emotions and affection for her cannot be subside anymore, they grow by each seconds ticking. Oh, man! I'm officially whipped!

I may be fighting these emotions consciously but subconsciously I'm not. I'm yearning for her, even if its just her scent but deep down in me, I know I just don't want her scent. I want her, every part of her. Thanks to her distant heart beat that my inhuman ears hear from here. It helps brighten up the dull moment and I can't seem to stop listening to them. Their thudding sound are music to my ears. Jeez! She's just..

words can't even explain how magnificent she is to me.

But at this situation, duty comes first because I'll be damned if I don't work towards getting rid of these bastards- the harlow's. If their rampant attack keeps rising on our radar, then it'll be a disaster on my people. It may even threaten Lilliana's life and I swear! They will have to kill all the creatures on this earth, and on my earth before their filthy hands would even touch her, and that's if it even would.

They all shall be shattered before they'd even see her, not to talk of now attacking her.

"Earth to Adrian." Calls Felix. He's currently leaning against the glassy window of Lucas's chamber. I must have been long gone in thoughts that I didn't realize that he has stand from my side. Trying to hide my distraction, I quickly face him but instead he narrows his eye at me as a confusion look paint his face and then it vanishes, replacing it with a wink. Oh, gosh!

Has he really take after Lucas' behavior?

"Sorry, what?" I say.

"Now that you are finally listening." sarcastically he declares. "We haven't talk about the research I did and if I remember correctly, you and Lucas are in a fit of a fight when I arrived." He walks closer, taking the seat opposite mine. "Wanna talk about it?" He questions.

Unsure of what to say, I question back, to not face the truth. "What talk?"

I don't want to relieve that moment, and I should apologize to Lucas for behaving awkward. My monster was on the edge of losing it and he doesn't like someone daring him, not to say slamming their mind's door right in front of his face.

"Why did I find my two brother fighting and gripping their necks, monsieur." He exaggeratedly questions.

"Can we please not start this topic?" Only Lucas knows about my affection for Liliana and I can only trust him on that big secret for now.

"Okay then." He replies but the look on his face says it all, he's not angry but disappointed, probably because he thinks I'm don't trust him enough. He will get over it. I'm sure of it.

"Felix, I promise you this. You shall know everything when it's time." I comfort and he pout out his lips playfully.

"Okay brother but remember this. I'm not that small kid of the family anymore. I'm an adult now." He says.

"You'll always be our little baby brother." I joke and we both laugh.

Lucas' coughs eliminated our laughter and I rush over to his side while Felix pours tainted into a silver cup and pass it to me. Lucas gulp down the content when I place it in his mouth.

"Want more?" I ask and Lucas nods. Felix hands another, using his powers and I hand it over to Lucas.

"What happened?" Lucas ask as he drop the partially filled cup in the side cabinet. Felix and I share a uncomprehending look before facing Lucas again.

"You don't remember anything?" Felix ask.

"Is something wrong?" He pause. "Well except, me buying a new emit and the harlow's..." His voice trail off as his eye suddenly flare. His voice panicking as he pulls out the words. "Is she safe?" He doesn't have to clarify the she before I know its Liliana and I'm happy that he appreciate her and he sees my view.

"She's safe." Simply, I reply and put both my hands on Lucas' shoulder. "She's with Anne." I add, his nervousness cools down. I don't know what he saw in that slave girl that made him care for her.

"I tried." He says.

"No, you did more than expected. Its the harlow's that needs to learn."

I face Felix and throws him a smile. He'll understand when I'm sure that he's fully on my side and not the acies (edge) side.

"The doctor said you were attacked with some strange dark powers. Remember that?" I say.

"It was a strong and heavy force and I wanted to blood bend them, but my powers notify me not to, so I went ahead and read their minds but wait.. I can't remember anything." He panic.

"What's wrong?!" He yells.

Lucas eye suddenly glows but with dark flecks on it.

"Lucas calm down, breath." I order.

"I can't... I'm feeling that rage, the one I felt when my beloved left." He's relieving his past. "I can't control it. It's playing with my mind."

"The blood lust again?" Felix ask as Lucas' monster is starting to rise on the horizon.

"Breath Lucas, continue to breath." I repeat again and again. I pass down my hands at his chest and let him feed from me. It works faster than tainted.

Soon his anger start to subside so is his monster.

"What the hell just happened?" Felix ask.

"Wait! I've got it. The dark powers. Brothers, do you remember that avatar created a place for us and somehow, Frederick found a way to send us away to earth, and then our powers start to change. It must have been from an unbalance in avatar and the universe. " He pause and sit up. "We never close the cave, Frederick did. Which means there's some strange powers that he's using. Powers that are not from avatar but from the cause of the unbalance." Lucas says.

"Which means we need to find a way to find answers." Felix says.

"We need to summon all commanders Adrian." Lucas says.

Suddenly the door snap open.

"My king, you need to summon a meeting!" He panic.
